    Very impressive rig and test setup! Still watching, but have noticed an error around ~8:30 [edit: see 8:19] where the Art lens shows a setting of f/2.2 against the I-series at f/2.

    That photo of the bridge in the AF speed test looked so beautiful on the back screen! Wish you’d shown a full size version as well 😍 16:40

    I picked up the F2 for size and weight. I do a lot of street photography so size and weight are important to me. Plus, it’s more discrete.

    Something not mentioned here is that the two have different coloring. I own one prime of each line (Art and Contemporary) and it is noticeable. The Contemporary primes have a little more of a vintage look because the blacks are a little darker but perhaps don't render as much detail in the shadows as the art series. The greens and yellows look slightly different also. To me the Art series has a bit better resolution (even the MTF chart agrees) but the Contemporary series has a really great look that I love also

      I had the same feeling as you. Color rendering is very important and I prefer the 1.4mm on this, color seems more warm, more romantic to me.

      For street and travel shots, the f/2 version gets the nod. For professional portrait and wedding work, I would choose the f/1.4.

    Excellent comparison, thanks! Next logical step: 50mm F2 vs 45mm F2.8 - sharpness vs character.

    • @musar03580
      @musar03580 10 месяцев назад

      Yes, especially since the 45mm f/2.8 is the kit lens that comes with the SIGMA fp when body and lens are bought together. It would be good to know how much of a difference there is between them and whether it might be worth investing in both.

  • @Life_x_Rory

    Interesting to see that with all other things equal, the light meter on the body with the contemporary lens attached consistently read a third stop higher than the body with the art lens attached

    Nerdy moment, but it is necessary to test close focusing even if both have the same minimum focus distance: sharpness on minimum close focus distance might vary.

      @@oneeyedphotographer Sony FZ100 batteries are so good you can go 2 days with 1 battery just for stills. Nobody cares about how many shots they have based on the lens. It's utterly ridiculous. "Oh Lens A shoots 28 more shots than Lens B because it draws less power" lol. When SD cards can hold 3000-6000 photos and batteries last a full day, there's no need to even consider power draw.

    • @oneeyedphotographer
      @oneeyedphotographer Год назад

      @@professionalpotato4764 I don't own a camera that I can shoot with all day. I use M43 cameras, mostly, and some of those, the better Lumix G series use batteries the same size and capacity as the better Canon DSLRs and mirrorless cameras.

    I do not like Sigma Lenses, the "Art"-series is just too heavy and big, hense the nickname "Bigma", the i-series is much too dependant of software, fx too much distortion and vignetting. Overall the colors that Sigma Lenses produce is not pleasing.

      Ah oui. Magnifique c’est les objectives Canon, ou bien connu sous le de brique de construction🧱
      Sigma et Fuji font ce que d’autre marques n’arrive pas parce que ils ne veulent pas. Et ça c’est difficile au consommateurs d’assumer cette vérité.
      Après pour la couleur, c’est le gout mon petit et chacun as le siens.
      On va voir le 5 octobre comme va être le 70-200 2.8 face aux des autres marques. Voulez vous que je parle de prix? Non 😅 je suis sûre.
