I think the main difference between Alicia ripping off Mario and Wildshade ripping off Alicia is that Wildshade has quite literally copied all the mechanics and the magic. Even some of the animations are almost exactly the same. That's the part that bothers me. I wouldn't care if it was a horse racing game like Alicia if it wasn't so on the nose? Alicia is unique enough from mario that it's not as direct rip off as Wildshade is to Alicia. That being said, I'm not going to tell people not to play Wildshade. It's their choice, and I'll let Alicia speak for themselves about if they're offended or not (even though it's not even the original korean devs anymore).
Yeah I was thinking the same. While there are only so many ways you can make a horse racing game, and I expected SOME similarities, several animations are direct copies which does bother me. The game is really fun (I also got into the beta) but it kinda feels like the game devs Know that Alicia can't do anything due to no longer being protected under copywrite. Just a thought though.
@@Goulaash It would certainly be nice to have an Alicia game that can get updates more frequently and of bigger scale for sure, so I’ll see where this goes. It still would be nice if they at least had different magic or different animations for the attacks that aren’t directly copied from Alicia. I think of Mario vs Sugar Rush from wreck it Ralph as a comparison. They’re both kart racing but they hold their own uniqueness. Would have be nice to see more of that here. At the very least the art styles are unique enough.

Saying AO is a rip off of Mario Kart isn’t the same as saying Wildshade is a rip off of AO…AO took the idea of Mario kart and made it their own with horses and other mechanics. Wildshade took the idea of AO, changed a few things and called it their own, when it’s definitely just AO “retexture” and it’s on mobile..

In the case of Alicia Online using the concept of Mario Kart but changing it to be a different game with different mechanics, is something that I think is fair game, and here’s why. For example, just like the many monster collecting games out there that use the same concept of Pokemon, but aren’t really copyrighting them, is all because they included their own monsters, their own stories, and their own battles. If anyone hasn’t heard of the Roblox Pokemon game called “Pokemon Brick Bronze,” they had to take down their game because they incorporated Pokemon’s creatures, *but* , if the game had built their own creatures then they would’ve been fine, and that’s exactly what they did. Today, the game is called “Loomian Legacy.” Anyways, what bothers me is that in the case of Wild Shade, they *Did Not* switched things around. The stat system is the same with the same categories like “spirit”, the moving and sliding mechanics are the same (especially the jumping boost), and the power skills are practically identical. And this is all because the game, Alicia Online, is no longer protected by copyright laws. So, you could say that Wild Shade made a carbon copy off of Alicia Online because they can, and they did. They don’t care if what they did was considered wrong, they’re just there to make off with the concept and possibly get some $$$ on the way. While I appreciate a new horse racing game that will likely get new updates once in a while, just the thought of Wild Shade taking advantage of Alicia Online’s vulnerability makes me uneasy. For now, I’ll keep checking back on the game to see where it goes. Overall, I can’t support the game if they don’t give credit to AO or at the very least, make up their own concepts that would replace AO mechanics.

It’s a cool game. And I want to play. But it is Literlly AO.. the magic, the starting.. and even the sound effects the character makes…they didn’t really try to make it original.. basiclly just changed the style.. and even the towns look like ao.. I wish it would be more original.. and I feel like it took AO’s opportunity to make a mobile game .. that it would probably not happen but I wish they wouldn’t of copied ao so hard…
“ao” doesnt exist anymore. the game was shut down a long time ago and only continues due to efforts by outside parties. personally, especially due to this, i see no issue with windshade. im sure after its release people will eventually shut up and just accept it anyways as they’ve literally ALWAYS done with every other game in similar situations

At 1st i thought that the lack of real multiplayer would be bad but the more i think about it playing "offline" will make it more fair. The lag will be less and it will also make sure that no one leaves the match and spoils it for others. Also you dont have to wait for others to fill the race spots. Less down time in the action. It will also help with the Data management on your mobile not having to collect info from other players. Its nice that you can change the colours but im not a huge fan of the horse model. There is something bothering me about it. When will this game be available and will it be world wide or region locked?
They definitely copied Alicia when it comes to town design and horse animations. Could have been more creative, there. AO isn't an official game anymore, though. It's simply a passion project. And they do say imitation is the highest form of flattery. Looks good, so far and I hope they continue to add their own creative flare to the game, with more features that you don't see in AO.
Alicia Online still belongs to Netrev. And for the sake of the devs behind Wildshade, I hope Ntrev never finds out about their game, cause they can sue them.

The spells appear different, at least, but the town looks like it was lifted out of AO and plunked down into Wildshade. If AO is indeed still owned by the original devs, then they would have every right to sue them on that alone.

Actually Alicia doesnt exist anymore so it cant be really copied. It can be legally copied. The orginal Alicia was shut down years ago so its not really that big of issue
I honestly really dig this ESPECIALLY because of the similarities it has with AO.... I (along with a ton of other gamers) have wanted to play AO for years but have never had a desktop set up equipped for it. More of a console/mobile gamer myself. So this is actually pretty awesome.

There is difference between copying something with own style then copying with almost same look and features as other game. Imagine you make something and then someone alse make a copy of your work and sells it as their own achievement.
There’s nothing wrong with taking inspiration from an already existing game( there’s a reason people say if you copy from enough people you can create something entirely unique) BUT.. this game features and gameplay are identical to Alicia online right down to the sound effects, this makes it morally wrong because the dev team decided to entirely remake( down to every single animation!) someone’s successful game to profit of it and because they know the creator can’t legally defend it. I would be okay with it if they only took a few features from Alicia online but then added other unique creative things. I'll give you a relevant example to what's considered copying/ripoff and what’s considered inspiration, for example Alicia was inspired by mariokart and wanted to make something similar BUT they used horses instead of karts and also used unique animations and actions. What's wrong with wild shade is that it copied 90% or more of Alicia online’s gameplay and mechanics. They only used a different graphic style and a few different irrelevant features that don’t effect gameplay. It’s morally wrong that people are so money hungry that they wil copy a uncopyrighted game right down to its core for a quick buck…

I like the fact that it does have the Mario cart and Alicia theme. Then again this is their OWN game every game nowadays looks similar to others but they have their own uniqe and cute style to all the elements like the horses, models on the characters, the enviroment and also the magic. It looks and seems to have the inner workings that make me think it's HEAVILY inspired by Alicia Online. Depending on the games intrusiveness with data and whatnot and ingame purchases it could be a nice thing, but if they overdo it with those I don't think I'd wanna play it. Sadly. Good looking horsegames are so rare, so it'd be nice if this one was an option.
I love the game but more improvements are needed and there should be more options on how to control when playing you never know what will happen in the future💖🐴
This looks SO much better then most mobile horse games!! Personally, I like the graphics :D And breeding!!! I really like that they added breeding, because there isn't many mobile horse games with breeding that actually have good graphics. I don't play AO so I have no opinion on that, but yeah it looks great and I'll definitely play it! Btw the music kinda reminds me of tinkerbelle 😂
i think that wild shade should have a way to venture around the map and also being able to to choose what breed of horse you can have but not to many but they can have a couple different breeds
I personally agree with everyone about this new game. HOWEVER BEFORE ANYONE DECIDES TO COMMENT SAYING "omgosh blahblahblah" maybe hear me out. I've got in around 4+ years in AO, and even had some time in the original AO. Alicia online isn't really a 'ripoff' or a 'bootleg' of Mariokart or whatever it's called cause I don't bother with Mario...Because alicia online took it's concept and changed a few things. to make it more so a horse game then that. While yes it may be slightly rippedoff, they made it unique...Wildshade however, ripped off Alicia hardcore; and I get why. AO no longer has any copwrites; but this IS unfair for wildshade to do this. The buildings and everything else, even some of the sounds and mechanics look similar. However; I will be playing this. I do hope aswell they grow into a Mobile & possibly a PC game. Down below is the similarities and Cons for me. Wildshade Cons/Pros Cons: Way to similar to AO, and kinda has this stylized texture like SSO, While they have varietyof characters, I would love to personalize my character and even personalize my name, 3 starter horses...really? huh...,The controls just make me really agitated from what I seen, Only 1 horse model from what I seen, No small, medium, large. Pro's: New horse game, may have potential, a good kick in SSO's butt (maybe a wake up call idk? especially if they do go to PC compatibility), Different colors + rarety's, breeding sounds a lot better then AO's (but probably as bad as AO's RNG lol). So...I will play Wildshade, and I won't completely diss on it. However I wish they came up with more then just trying to be a bootleg or ripoff of AO...like cmon dev's if you can make a GORGEOUS game, make it unique! Make it a game you KNOW everyone wants.

Everyone is talking about how similar Alicia Online and Wildshade is, but I've never played Alicia Online, I normally play mobile games. It's really hard to download games onto the computer, the only game I play and have on the computer is Minecraft. I've never played Wildshade either because for some reason it says it can't be played on my device. They wanted a game for mobile players who prefer mobile and/or don't have a PC or don't like it as much. I really enjoy a lot of Tivola games so I do want this game and I'm sure I would probably enjoy it.

i also think with the breeding they basically copy pasted the style of the breeding screen where you switch through the horses.

From what I know, it will be world wide, however the 'leaderboards' will be grouped, as for release it is planned for 25th of November! ♥

You know, this is actually a cool game! It's like Alicia, but on phone. I like the fact you can play it offline, that way there wont be as much lag.

It does have AO theme cause everything look like AO in this game. They just copy and drop as their own which is shame.

(Honestly i dont know much about Alicia, simply because i havent played it, or even watched anyone play it. Maybe like once i watched someone play Alicia, but, i cant really remember.) And definitely see how it relates to mario kart! Which i think is fine! You can see that its definitely inspired from these games! Which is very fun. Its like the best of all three worlds! I think its fine for a game to have similarities to other games, rather its from popular games or not. It seems like a rlly cool game! I may try it out when its released!

i wouldnt call it but the gliding and the spells are legit the same thing as in alicia, alicia is at least different from mario kart but this legit just seems like a mobile offline alicia .

This game has an amazing future! Its a great game and im glad theres a similar app to ao but for laptop. It was always my dream to play ao but i didnt have a suitable device for it! Its great i love the game so far!

It looks and seems to have the inner workings that make me think it's HEAVILY inspired by Alicia Online.
Depending on the games intrusiveness with data and whatnot and ingame purchases it could be a nice thing, but if they overdo it with those I don't think I'd wanna play it. Sadly. Good looking horsegames are so rare, so it'd be nice if this one was an option.

This looks SO much better then most mobile horse games!! Personally, I like the graphics :D And breeding!!! I really like that they added breeding, because there isn't many mobile horse games with breeding that actually have good graphics. I don't play AO so I have no opinion on that, but yeah it looks great and I'll definitely play it!

i think that wild shade should have a way to venture around the map and also being able to to choose what breed of horse you can have but not to many but they can have a couple different breeds

I personally agree with everyone about this new game. HOWEVER BEFORE ANYONE DECIDES TO COMMENT SAYING "omgosh blahblahblah" maybe hear me out.
I've got in around 4+ years in AO, and even had some time in the original AO. Alicia online isn't really a 'ripoff' or a 'bootleg' of Mariokart or whatever it's called cause I don't bother with Mario...Because alicia online took it's concept and changed a few things. to make it more so a horse game then that. While yes it may be slightly rippedoff, they made it unique...Wildshade however, ripped off Alicia hardcore; and I get why. AO no longer has any copwrites; but this IS unfair for wildshade to do this. The buildings and everything else, even some of the sounds and mechanics look similar. However; I will be playing this. I do hope aswell they grow into a Mobile & possibly a PC game. Down below is the similarities and Cons for me.
Wildshade Cons/Pros
Cons: Way to similar to AO, and kinda has this stylized texture like SSO, While they have varietyof characters, I would love to personalize my character and even personalize my name, 3 starter horses...really? huh...,The controls just make me really agitated from what I seen, Only 1 horse model from what I seen, No small, medium, large.
Pro's: New horse game, may have potential, a good kick in SSO's butt (maybe a wake up call idk? especially if they do go to PC compatibility), Different colors + rarety's, breeding sounds a lot better then AO's (but probably as bad as AO's RNG lol).
So...I will play Wildshade, and I won't completely diss on it. However I wish they came up with more then just trying to be a bootleg or ripoff of AO...like cmon dev's if you can make a GORGEOUS game, make it unique! Make it a game you KNOW everyone wants.

Yes it is. It’s AO but with a different art Styles. Even some sounds are the same!! But AO it’s not Copyright protected any more. I personally don’t like the lack of effort and respect and won’t play the game to „support“ AO and to show that I want something original:)

Everyone is talking about how similar Alicia Online and Wildshade is, but I've never played Alicia Online, I normally play mobile games. It's really hard to download games onto the computer, the only game I play and have on the computer is Minecraft. I've never played Wildshade either because for some reason it says it can't be played on my device. They wanted a game for mobile players who prefer mobile and/or don't have a PC or don't like it as much. I really enjoy a lot of Tivola games so I do want this game and I'm sure I would probably enjoy it.
