@@cnovasalmanhussain751 TI snow has the exact same engine as the TI2 but half the DSP power. It's 4 part multitimbral rather than 16, and has 50 voices rather than 110. It's obviously cheaper, but the UI can be a nightmare sometimes. Depends if you have the budget and space for a full TI, or if the snow would be a better fit for your use case. Fucking sick 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 Quick question though - was the cutoff on an LFO or did you record MiDI first time around and then manually adjust on a second take?
I've got the drums and cutoff sequenced in cakewalk (you can see the MODX sequencer isn't running), and spent a bit of time getting my transitions right before recording. A few other CC changes are sent too, you can't really hear it, but the virus is switched from mono to poly I think onwards of Carte Blanche. (On the move sounded better in monophonic mode).
@@lewisd56 Thanks! LOL I was too busy listening that I didn't even notice it was played off a MODX :) Now I know they're completely different machines, and sadly the non-new-Montage M don't have the ANX sound engine, so you're left with making saw and square using FM (which still work)... but how close do you think you could match patches on the MODX for trancy Virus sounds? I'm saying this because I have a MODX and am thinking about pulling the trigger for a Snow
@@alfiedotwtf FM-X is powerful, but has it's limitations. It's very much not a VA engine, even if it *can* do VA to an extent. There are tricks to get sawtooths from FM engines, I've never really got a totally convincing sound, Yamaha provides a few different non-standard waves for FM-X too, but they only help so much. I recall to patch a good saw you need a 3 operator stack, but the best way is using feedback, you only get this on a single operator though. Don't get me wrong, the MODX can do trance, and you can get bases and leads from FM-X and AWM2, but both really struggle with supersaw sounds. Ultimately, if you need a VA, buy a VA. The snow is a great little synth, half the voices of the TI, with the same engine but for less than half the cost. It's not got the best UI in the world, but given youre only paying £500 for a virus Vs £1500 I think it's easy to forgive that. There's a few other synths that work for trance, the ultranova/mininova is massively underrated in terms of the power of the engine, it's a poor man's virus, and beats it in some respects. Does sound a little more harsh and slightly thinner, but that can be desirable for some sounds (see my binary binary cover). Behringer also released the JT-4k micro recently, and it is supposed to emulate the JP8K, which it does surprisingly well, only 4 voices though and a really terrible UI, but if you want it for supersaws alone, for 50 quid it's really not bad.
@@lewisd56 I asked because there was a reasonably priced Snow near me, but after reading your comment, GAS kicked in... I managed to then find a reasonably priced TI 2 Desktop and it was literally a 5 minute drive. SOLD!

Watching you just play these without a sequencer or arpeggiator is absolute madness. Super impressive!
Thanks!
Apparently I am a human arpeggiator.
Agreed, but it is the delay effect that make these sounds to sound what they are..
Great playing of the classics, took me back!
Is it worth buying a virus ti snow compared to a virus ti 1 or 2...
