Ok I figured out a fix for the issue I was having. I didn't wanna take the headphones apart bc usually I break stuff when I do that. I've had audio prompts off on my 550s forever. I could only get them to pair to my phone if I was actively playing audio at the time, as soon as I closed the audio app they stopped working. I had to find an apk for captune since they removed it (and my phone isn't compatible with the new app), turned on audio prompts, and I learned that my device was listed as device 2 and it would connect to "device 1" If i wasn't playing audio. THE FIX THAT WORKED FOR ME was to turn off headphones. Turn them back on and hold the effect mode button until she says it's pairing (it's a little finicky). After that, simply hold the button until it says that the pairing list is cleared. Repairing my phone with the headphones had no issues at all afterwards.
Note: If two (2) Bluetooth Devices are already actively paired to your HPs, then holding down the 'Voice Assist Button' will not allow additional Pairing until you manually 'Disconnect' at least one (1) of the connected BT devices. Sennheiser PXC 550-II.
I tried doing this but now the headphones won't turn on ("say Power On" anymore). They will still charge and the lights for charging will show but it won't turn on. Any ideas on how to fix?
Hi did you experience strange high pitches in your left handset? so intermittent strongly audible. this happens when I turn on Spotify but not only when I close S. then it stops after a while. sometimes turning the headphones on and off gives a good result but often not. I listen mainly to Bluetooth on the iPhone. when they are on the cable this does not happen.
I'd like to check, in cameltoats's video he links the jack 'STX-25427-6N-TR' as used in the headphones. This would mean that after the jumper the audio would only be in mono if the jack is connected. After jumping the pins, does audio via the headphone jack still work and if so, does it work in stereo or in mono?
Well, it worked! The jumper was soldered and now Bluetooth works as expected, when the jack is in use the audio is in stereo so that's still working as well!
Tried everything and the soldering between the two points as stated here and still not getting the pairing option only the "effect mode." Has anyone found any other recourse to fixing this problem?
Pairing any headset is expected to be easy option for customers. But, It is a big design flaw for the PXC 500 II headphones. This is simple but big headache for customers. This flaw needs to be addressed by recall.
How is shorting out pins on a headphone socket have anything to do with bluetooth as they are on different circuit boards - well, unless any of those two lines connected to the bluetooth antenna through that ribbon cable - did u find that anywhere ? You know that solder connection might have nothing to do with pairing as in, just opening and closing the headphones disturbed any possible bad connections near the bluetooth or power connections to it - IOW correlation is not automatically proof of causation. The way to check & gain some certainty is unsolder that connection and see if it turns off pairing ? So please tell:- What particular error did u get before and what made you think that socket was in any way related to bluetooth please ?BTW: The effects button has a very flakey push switch that isnt reliable - the depth of push very variable before it does anything...
I got a pair of momentum 3 that failed to turn on Bluetooth at all after a few months' use. After seeing this and cameltoast's video I tested by shorting the two pins shown here and the Bluetooth turned on. Soldering a jump wire kind of fixed the issue. Thanks for the post! Did anyone figure out what those two pins do? They are obviously related to the aux cable jack but there are 5 or 6 contacts while a normal jack only has 4 pins.

Amritraj Sasidharan before u try this, make sure the Bluetooth switch is on (it’s on the right ear pad at top area) then press and hold the effects button to enter pairing mode. If u do that and all it does is say “effects mode....” then u can try this fix, it still working for me
There is a trick! A lot of answers to this problem were simply to hold the "mode" button for 4 sec to enter pairing mode but it was still not enought for a lot of users. The trick is to do everything in a specific order: 1- make sure the bluetooth of your computer is OFF (yes, off) 2- switch the headphones on 3- if the headphones aren't into pairing mode (if they were you would hear the voice saying so), maintain the mode button for 4 sec until it says its in pairing mode 4- activate bluetooth on your computer, then in the Parameters/Bluetooth devices and others, where you can activate/desactivate bluetooth, clic on "add a bluetooth device" and clic on "pxc-550" while making sure the headset is less than 20 cm away from your computer 5- congratulations it should work
I have 2 problems and cannot seem to find proper help online. 1.) My "pairing" button all of a sudden does not move (almost flush with the headset). It did not fall and nothing strange happened. Also, 2.) I cannot get the headset to pick up as an "audio device" on my PC after using the split jack plugins on the PC - it just shows under "other devices". Normally I would hold in the pairing button to rectify this (and struggle to get it connected) but now is just not functioning. Was fine yesterday. Can anyone please help? I have Win 10, 100% updated, have tried everything I could find online but nothing helps. My bluetooth adapter works fine with any other BT devices, just the Sennheiser PXC 550 is an issue. Pleaasse.
For me it helped to just wait a little longer until it is listed as audio device. Before I connected immediately after it showed up and it was not recognised as audio device

Well, it worked!
The jumper was soldered and now Bluetooth works as expected, when the jack is in use the audio is in stereo so that's still working as well!

The trick is to do everything in a specific order:
1- make sure the bluetooth of your computer is OFF (yes, off)
2- switch the headphones on
3- if the headphones aren't into pairing mode (if they were you would hear the voice saying so), maintain the mode button for 4 sec until it says its in pairing mode
4- activate bluetooth on your computer, then in the Parameters/Bluetooth devices and others, where you can activate/desactivate bluetooth, clic on "add a bluetooth device" and clic on "pxc-550" while making sure the headset is less than 20 cm away from your computer
5- congratulations it should work

1) you can open the right side speaker and move the button to the correct position. It is not hard to do
2) Not sure how to fix this for Windows
