    That yeast strain is my favorite! For fresh mint I've had success either with using a tincture, or with expressing the oils and mixing in about 20-30 minutes before kegging (any longer and it starts to get funky). Alcohol is a great solvent for the flavorful/aromatic oils in mint. I'll have to try the mint tea idea though! That looked like a good way to get a different array of mintyness.

      The mint tea worked great. And it was 100%mint (95Spear mint & 5% green mint).

    Yum, I need to add mint stout/porter to my to-brew list, would be perfect for Christmas but have it ice cold also perfect for summer too, versatile beer.

    • @DrHansBrewery
      @DrHansBrewery  7 лет назад

      Yes, ice cold it's really minty and as it heats up the chocolate gets more pronounced. Brew it!

    I'm cooling off a mint mocha stout/porter (not sure which it is here) as I watch this. I will be using extract, cocoa nibs, and coffee in the secondary.

    Very good. I may just have to make one of these myself. I'll add lactose, though.
    Did I understand you correctly? You didn't put the cacao nibs in the boil, but rather in at the end of the fermentation?

  • @perjetesi2811

    Looks epic! However i think it's far too carbonated for a porter. Porters and stouts are far better with minimal or even none additional carbonation with priming sugar. :) Keep up the good work. :)

    • @DrHansBrewery
      @DrHansBrewery  5 лет назад +3

      You're right it is more carbonated than you're a average porter. I like my beers a little fizzy. Thats what's cool with homebrewing. You get to decide everything. Cheers and thanks for watching. This was an amazing brew. Do try the recipe out if you want.

    What do you think would happen if I put the mint in the fermenter for the duration of fermenting?

    • @DrHansBrewery

      You might get little less mint taste and aroma.

    That's a low mash temperature for a porter or any other brew for that matter.

    • @DrHansBrewery
      @DrHansBrewery  7 лет назад +1

      Mihai Mahu Not in my opinion. I adjust my mash temp to the yeast and grainbill. Cheers and thanks for watching

    • @DrHansBrewery
      @DrHansBrewery  3 года назад +1

      Go to my website and sign up for the newsletter. This recipe is in the ebook you get for free when signing up.
      To increase the ABV just use a little more base malt.
      Let me know how it turns out if you brew it. Cheers!

    Why didn't you add the dark grains towards the end of the mash like you have in other videos? Or do you only do that in stouts?

    • @DrHansBrewery
      @DrHansBrewery  6 лет назад

      Just checked my notes on this. I did ad the chocolate wheat with the rest of the grains but the chocolate malt vent in at mash out!

    Hi. Wondering about your O2 setup. Would you like to tell me/us a bit about it? What parts do one need (required and recommended)? Where do you recommend buying it at the lowest price (Guess mostly applies to your swedish viewers.)?
