This was so moving, and I loved seeing the town as it was back then. It's surprising-and gratifying to see that many of the old shop names still exist. Thank you,BIGTIME!

My dad left Galway in 49 right off the farm. But Galway never left him. Thank you for posting these.

I have wonderful memories of Galway city and Salthill as a small boy on holidays in the late 60's, and my dad rowing us up the Corrib, blue dragon flies alighting on the oars, and picnics on the riverbank at Menlo castle. Passed through Galway last summer with my own family. Sorry to say very disappointed with what we found - grubby streets, haphazard ugly development around the harbour and Spanish Arch, dreadful lunch in a cafe, not particularly friendly, crowded. Left quickly. In contrast, we had the most wonderful, enjoyable holiday ever in Connemara.

The 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s Galway always had magical attraction.. The City of the Tribes. One of the bastions of culture😂😂😂 Muhammad was the most popular boys name in 2022. Maybe the NUIG was reason for that??

The correct sentence should be, ARE there any Irish left in Galway? To answer your question, yes, there was a considerable number of Irish people in Galway when I visited recently.
