I’m turning 60 next month and have never once been tempted to go on any cruise offered by any company, despite a deep love of the oceans. But your descriptions in this video about the steps that RCCL have taken to mitigate the effects of the Pandemic on you, Cass and your colleagues reflect extremely well on that particular brand. You two are lucky to benefit from their enlightened personnel policies (which you have consistently recognized and acknowledged) and RCCL is lucky to have you as a brand ambassador.
You and Cass offered a fascinating look into the cruise industry during this pandemic. Wishing you both all the best, safe travels, and great futures ahead.
I know you're already home, but I just discovered this series and it's so cool to get a peek into the life of an essentially stranded cruise ship crew! I'm glad you made it through and made it home eventually, and I hope it isn't too-too long before you are able to get back to it.
Man... I was lucky to stay only 2 weeks on the ship in Genova, after returning from Asia. I disembarked on 5 April. I still have friends still on the ship... in September
Thanks for the videos. I’ve worked in the travel industry for 20 years and found your videos so interesting and entertaining. Safe travels and I look forward to seeing you in future videos. Don’t stop making them!
Wow, what a rollercoaster ride you have had since you started working on the ship! Good luck with packing, I procrastinate too! I have enjoyed your range of videos from food to work to pandemic. Your positive outlook is inspiring! I look forward to whatever other videos you post.

Great news. I quarantined for 3 months on Carnival Fascination and they were planning to take us home (Argentina) BY SHIP but in the end they got a flight for us so I know the feeling. Enjoy your -undefined- stay home!!
Thank you so much for the update! When you went dark, I feared the worst. The press was printing stories about how all the Cruise Ships were hotbeds for C19, and I was like what happened to Riley!!! So in a way, I am glad you are safe, but I am also sad that you have to leave. Good luck on your trip home.
A cruise to nowhere is for people who like being on the water and the lifestyle provided by the ship, not for the destinations. Home is good, sorry you and your girlfriend are ending up in different directions.
I agree. As long as it's a nice ship and it's cruising in tropical weather, I would take a cruise with no destinations. It would be nice to get rid of the port fees. At least that was my feeling before COVID.
I am so glad that you and Cass are heading home. Don'r worry about documenting the entire thing. Do what you have to do. I just want to see you and Cass stepping off the ship and you getting on your plane. I am sure your family and friends will be very glad to have you home. I hope Cass will eventually be able to visit you in Alaska.
Good to know that your're safe and still on the ship. I been keeping up on the cruise news and have heard that pretty much no sailing out of North America until Next year! Nice that they give you an option to go home or stay on a different ship. Be careful traveling home. I can't wait to see when you post again even if you don't do it until you get home. I wish I was going to Alaska. It's so hot here in NY. Be careful in Hong Kong even in the airport. Things have changed in the last week with china so it's not really safe there anymore.
I'm sure that your family will be so happy to see you! All the best for you and Cass. I hope to see more of your future adventurers. I'm sure that I speak for many of your fellow viewers when I say that we would love to see what you are up to in Alaska.
Thank you for the update. Excited that you both are going home, but sad that not together. It has been great to follow you through this journey. Keep us updated and hopefully we will all be back on the Seas in the not too distant future.
Hi Riley, Donovan from South Africa here, just want to say I really enjoyed your cool videos these past few months. Safe journey home and hope to see more cool content soon. God bless.
So very sad to hear this , I’m sorry you two will be apart, I am very sad about not being able to go cruising , I am very sad , keep making your videos you have our support , Thomasfrom Fort Lauderdale Florida
Good luck and safe travels. So many of us have taken our freedom and ability to make choices for granted. I really feel for those who have had those things taken.
Other than Cass, what are you going to miss the most about ship life? Best wishes to you both, safe travels, and stay healthy! I'm looking forward to watching your journey home. I'm sure your family is super stoked of your return!!!
The key to NOT getting overwhelmed at packing is to set a daily goal. Maybe 1 suitcase or bag per day. Otherwise, it just becomes overwhelming. Safe Travels!
Having worked 6 cruise ship contracts, honestly the packing can be done in a couple of hours total (did this for all but my first contract, because the first time around I was feeling overwhelmed). Some people like to plan ahead but it really doesn't take much time to pack 2 suitcases and a carry-on which is really the most anyone is carrying on a ship.
I agree. I was an exchange student and packed the night before my early morning flight. Had to leave a pair of boots, but only took about 3 hours to pack everything.
A friend is in Alaska now. Had to get a Covid test 72 hours before flying to Alaska or be in quarantine for two weeks. The odd thing about that is after their testing they were socializing, going to the bar and have been through two airports before arriving at the Alaska airport. Exposed to a lot in 72 hours after testing. Stay well.
Hi Riley, love your videos. I’ve been watching you since the beginning! I’m sure your parents are happy you’re coming home! Sorry you have to split with Cass. 🥰
Congrats! I've been watching your channel and feeling so sorry for all the people who have been trapped on the ship. I'm sure your family can't wait to see you again! Safe travels, and I look forward to seeing more videos. 👍😊
The Life of Riley - glad you are safe and home. I’ll be interested in hearing what you think of things at home. I think things have changed a lot in the USA.
Thanks for sharing your "tales of life upon the sea" (Jimmy Buffett, The Captain and the Kid). Safe travels home to you and Cass. Keep smiling and looking forward to the future.
Safe travels to both of you, I’m sure it was a difficult decision to make. Very interesting tho to hear they don’t know when this ship will sail again. Thanks for posting an update, I’m sure both of your parents are looking forward to your returns.
Glad you guys are OK. Was getting concerned. I started following you when the DJ of our local radio station mentioned he was following you. Stay safe. Hope you continue to make videos. God bless you both.
Safe travels, fellow black shirt! My suggestion is to bring a small bottle of hand sanitizer, a few extra face coverings and a face shield if you can get one (the airline might have one), on top of anything else you would have with you on a long flight. It will be a shock, but I'm sure you will be relieved to see home on land again. Best of luck!
So glad to see you again but now quite sad you have to go home Like your dad says your mum will be happy to se you Safe travels Riley and see you back in Alaska 😍😍👍👍
No matter how comfortable your living conditions have been. 5 months is a long time to be held captive. I understand your decision to return home. It's a great opportunity to wind down from this epic adventure you've been living and refocus your life and where you want to go with your life. The day will come when cruising resumes and you may well return. Whatever you decide I wish you well and hope to see your smiling face as you continue on your life journey through many more blogs to come.
No decision on Riley's part took place here. The cruise line is sending home all crew members who originally stayed voluntarily for a potential return to operations. This is a cost-cutting measure. No cruises are coming back any time soon, probably not until 2021 for the most part.
That ship looked fun, but you both must miss your families. I'll wait for the video of the flight, I really want to see how passengers will look like on that plane lol
Thank you so much for sharing your story! It has been a wonderful insight to what you and others have had to go through. Best to you in the future!

Yes! Yes! Yes! Thanks for planning to visit HKSAR, China! Hope you enjoy our airport. However, please still protect yourself as there was a sudden, random spike of cases in my city and precautions should be taken. Have a safe flight:)
I'm so glad to hear this!! I kept checking your channel since the last video. I was getting ready to msg Matt Y. and see if he'd heard from you. Safe travels home!! You are in my thoughts!!
Long distance relationships are terribly hard. I've been in one for 3 years now. I was supposed to be seeing her in the Philippines right now, but because of this pandemic that did not happen. This is going to sound terribly cheesy, but once you're back home rest your heart. It's gonna hurt. But it'll be okay. Good luck Riley. (Same advice for Cass! Sorry if that's not the correct spelling!)
Sorry to hear that, you must miss her so much! :( I sincerely hope all of this will be over soon so people can see their love ones ❤️ (yes you spelled Cass right!)
I really feel for you Riley... I know this was a curve you were not anticipating... but I have seen how inspiring all your vids are and I've even commented on them... you are creative as hell ... I'm a big fan.. sorry you will be apart from Cass right now... at least for awhile ... but I know your future videos will be just as awesome on your new journey in life... you and Cass are a fantastic couple... I will miss your videos together... Stay safe and stay happy... Luv ya!
Kinda sad to hear you are leaving the ship. We will miss you. I wish you and Cass all the best. Stay well. We will all be waiting to hear from you soon. From the ship and from Alaska. I'll continue to watch for your posts! Goo luck! Most importantly Stay well! Tim

Your mom and I can't wait to see you Riley. Here's to the next chapter in "The Life of Riley"! We really hope Cass can come visit in Alaska soon!
Ah how sweet ur dad...
James Tench yeah bring Cass to Alaska!
Came to the comments, just to find the comment from his dad.
Alaska is a great place to shoot a wedding vlog, or so I hear.
You’re too sweet Mr. Tench.

Thank you so much!!
Sad to see you go but glad you’re finally getting off. Thank you a bunch because you have been very informative.

Will you give us some tours of Alaska and what your doing at home in Alaska.
So glad you two get to go home! Safe travels
All the best to you and Cass, and I sincerely appreciate you taking us along on your journey!
Congratulations on being able to go home! Hope you have fun up in the great north.
CONGRATS going home after 5 mos will probably be good to see family and friends.... be safe. Well stay tuned!
Safe journey to the both of you. Vlog as much as you can but always stay safe.

I'm sure your families are super excited to get you home! Thank you for taking us along on your incredible journey!
It’s been amazing watching your journey but really happy you are going ‘home’. Safe journeys to you and Cass.
Safe travels! I look forward to future videos.

How are you?? Thank you for all your hard work on the vids. I really wish y'all went to the Bahamas.
Thanks Valecia. Cass and I are both doing well. Sorry they won’t be from the Bahamas, but I do have some new videos coming soon.
I’m happy for you that you’re finally going home, safe travels for both of you.

Really interesting content. Glad I found this channel.
Hi Riley, wishing you a safe trip home to Alaska.
Hope you have a safe trip. Sorry that the two of you can’t travel together😢
Good luck Riley, stay safe and bon voyage

Great to hear from you guys! I am sad you will be going to different locations. Stay safe and thanks for the update!
I'd like to see the video of your trip home so we can see what air travel is like now.
Best wishes & safe journey home. Hope to see you in Nov 2020 onboard the Quantum though. Stay safe & keep well.
Cass and I would love that too!
Hi Riley, love your videos. I’ve been watching you since the beginning! I’m sure your parents are happy you’re coming home! Sorry you have to split with Cass. 🥰

Thanks Jorge... Looking forward to seeing what the future holds.
Congrats on this journey coming to an end! I've been following your dad reporting that you were on the way home!
Good luck fella. Really enjoyed your videos these last few months. Take care out there its a different world than last time your were on dry land.
VLOG from Alaska, that would be super cool.
Yeah, I definitely want to do something. Just trying to wrap my head around subjects, stories, etc. Stay tuned!
Safe travels to both of you, I’m sure it was a difficult decision to make. Very interesting tho to hear they don’t know when this ship will sail again. Thanks for posting an update, I’m sure both of your parents are looking forward to your returns.

I still remember your long trip and the wonderful video from Fairbanks to Shanghai. "I will follow you. Follow you wherever you may go........."

Tim
I was gunna comment on your last video yesterday asking where you were, so glad you’re finally getting off!
Are they flying you home the long way because it's cheaper? Royal did that to me coming home from Voyager in Shanghai in August 2012. 24 hours through Dubai instead of 14 hours direct to Toronto. The only thing that made it bearable was I got a surprise upgrade to business class on the Shanghai>Dubai flight. Emirates business class is nothing to complain about for sure.
Pretty sure he’s taking the shorter route, HK is just very far away from Alaska 😂 The layover times are very short too!
Love your videos! I’m currently a BFA Lighting Design Major at UCF. I was wondering if you could make a video talking about your job and how you got to where you are today?
I think that RCL should add you to its marketing department or at least move you up and Cass up to Celebrity or Azamara. We cruise on Celebrity and you gave a genuine experience of your journey and it makes me want to support the cruise line when we go back to cruising.
Hey tats a great News Riley 😀 aft sooooo many months.....
I guess we are equally happy wid you Coz now at tis tym of Corona Virus being in entire world ....

I wondered what had happened to you, glad you have a strategy now but sad you will be separated from Cass. Cruising will never, ever be the same again. As committed cruisers, this is upsetting, but the world has changed forever. Stay safe.
Thanks for the update but holy crap I have been on several cruises and never felt sea sick until this video !
Best of luck!!!
Safe travels man cruiser 4 life!
