Vocalist/pianist Diane Schuur is as eclectic as she is brilliant. A longtime disciple of Dinah Washington and other legendary jazz singers of the '40s and '50s, Schuur has built a stellar career by embracing not only the jazz of her parents' generation, but also the pop music of her own youth during the late 1950s and '60s. In a recording career that spans nearly three decades - and includes two Grammy Awards and three Grammy nominations - Schuur's music has explored nearly every corner of the 20th century American musical landscape.

I bought a couple of Diane's cd's twenty years ago and then finally got to see her at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley in Seattle in 2006. I love her.
Some people say I'm too young for blues or too deep or depressed when I listen to the blues... The truth is that the blues has depth and soulful lyrics... beats and meaning. And I'm not ashamed to listen to the blues 🎶💜💜

I find singing the blues actually cheer me up. It can get a wee bit loud, but that is from half a century of belting out the blues. Tuning the notes is similar to Barbershop baritone which I also sang for years.
