  • This video features the assembly part of my work with this piece. I will provide a video later where I discuss the progress from start to finish. I also made an unboxing of this piece years ago. Link below.
    In short, I sanded, polished, blued and painted this piece as it came as a assembly kit from Tomenosuke.

    This looks terrific! Great job! I too would be very interested in a video detailing how you did the bluing, polishing, etc. I've had the same kit for years but have been putting it off as I have no clue how to do that stuff. Would love to finally get it looking like this.

      Thank you, Stefan. I know it can be very intimidating, and I was in that exact same boat. I got a finished version as well, and this took off some of the pressure since no matter what, I'd still have that. :) I'll try to put together a video where I share my experience and share some tips and learnings.

    Hey CHris did you ever create the more in depth video? I have 2 issues with my build (or rebuild as I stripped mine down to weather and attach the metal barrel) My grip or handle is loose and I cant see a way to tighten it and I cant get the chamber spring back in there lol)

    • @DarthChrisDK
      @DarthChrisDK  2 года назад

      Hi Colin. I only have the videos available that you'll find on my channel. Hmm, it's been so long now I don't remember in detail the handle and how it goes together - other than what can be glimpsed in this video. I really you sort it out! There's definitely a way to tighten it properly.

    Can you explain the entire process to get this blued (sanded, polished and blued) like your Blade Runner Blaster please ? :) The result is magnificent !

    • @DarthChrisDK
      @DarthChrisDK  6 лет назад +4

      I will probably make a video on this later. I took some photos over the course of it all. Basically,
      - I used different grades of sanding pads from 3M (UltraFine, MicroFine) and polished with steel wool (0000).
      - Before bluing, I wiped the parts in acetone.
      - I blued using cotton pads and applied it directly to the surface in long dedicated swoops.
      - I used a clean cotton pad to wipe/rub the blued area immediately after.
      - The small parts I dipped in a 1:10 concentration of the bluing chemical. This way the liquid could reach the small details that couldn't be reached manually. I dipped them and counted to 5. Then took them out and rinsed them and rubbed them.
      - Whenever I felt that the corrosion was too dark or crusty, I would wipe gently the surfaces with clean steel wool (0000). To bring out the metal finish and make some patina on edges and details.
      - I then soaked all the blued parts in acid free oil (hobby oil etc.). I left them for a day or more (whilst waiting for supplies to arrive).
      - I then polished the receiver and bolt lever with Novus 2 (using a fine cloth) - an old T-shirt would do fine as well).
      - Finally, I used Renaissance Wax on the receiver and bolt lever to give them a protective coat. Again, using a fine cloth.
      I think that's basically it. As mentioned, will probably do a video later where I go over it again and show the various materials and tools that I used.

      DarthChrisDK Which one is the best ? Casey's perma blue or Casey's aluminium blue ? :)

    • @DarthChrisDK
      @DarthChrisDK  6 лет назад +1

      I have had difficulties finding good comparisons of the two. Most videos just show one of them. I believe that that expert that did the blaster for Tomenosuke used Aluminium Blue. I have an idea that Perma Blue gives a more black color with a blue hue/tint - more cool. Like pearly. Aluminium Black, from what I can tell, is a more black color with grey hue/tint - more warm. But I have not compared them directly. It's more an impression of mine.

    • @DarthChrisDK
      @DarthChrisDK  4 года назад +2

      It's a prop or model. Not a live-firing gun. Its construction has parts taken from the design of real firearms, but the materials used on this model are not compatible with a real gun.
