this is what localizers should be doing when we ask 'translate the meaning for us'
(this is the response you were pining for. inb4 tl;dr)
sigh. it is what we do, and especially with songs when there's meter involved translation requires significantly deviating from literal translation. just look at the first stanza for this TL, it differs significantly from what a typical translation would give you, e.g. ふたりの序章だと literally could be "on the topic of our beginning together" but it's illustrated in the translation as "now...because I met you" and "means more" is taken from the line afterwards (意味をくれたこと/"gave meaning to") but these two lines are also duplicated in "you gave meaning to my lonely world" ("lonely world" is *nowhere* in the original lyrics, but the sentiment is obviously there given the song and associated anime as a whole). the second stanza even mentions 由来 (etymology) but that's completely rewritten in this translation (closer literal TL for the last three lines in the second stanza would be "your calling my name gave more meaning to my name than the origin/etymology of my name" but obviously this isn't singable and I would definitely not write it like that in the end product). anyway, I'm not here to judge someone else's translation, considering songs need more creative freedom to come out good.
people who write statements like yours tend to fixate on the few localizers who overreach or are just incompetent and fail to see and appreciate the majority of localizers who aren't like them. either way this translation is very definitely one that that crowd would complain about if they actually checked the original lyrics, despite it actually being decent, but they won't because there's nothing in it that they'd find controversial.
