I had music class in 7th grade. Sadly, my ADHD caused me to not be able to pay much attention. I adored the subject but I was sadly behind. This little series is helping me relearn what I missed. Thank you! Hopefully I'll be able to teach uke one day as well

I have learned so much from you these couple months especially during lockdown. I will forever be grateful. Gave this tiny ukulele collecting dust a purpose. And ukulele community is so wholesome never fails to make me smile. So glad i picked it up. Wouldn't have progressed as much if it wasn't for Miss B. Thank a lot.

I have always had a hard time understanding how to read music, for some reason, it just always confused me, even when I was in band at school, I had no idea how to read the music, I just learned how to play the flute by memory. I decided I want to learn Ukulele, and I really want to be able to read the music. I've been researching websites, and I've watched a bunch of different youtube videos, and still was confused. After watching this video, I feel like I actually have an understanding now!!! I am so excited now! I am so glad I found you! Thank you for making it easier for me to understand.

A great related resource is Samantha Muir's Classical Ukulele Method. I sang through high school, so I can already read music, but tab was new for me when I started picking up the ukulele. Creating the mental connections between tab and notation is a process for sure.

At last someone teaching us how to read music. I am teaching 30 children 7 years of age and they find using their left hand so difficult (only had 4 lessons so co-ordination is tough) yet so much music emphasises chords only. Introducing notation therefore is ideal for playing melodies instead of just playing chords and singing a song. Would it be possible to do series of videos using tab so we have the options of chords, tab and notation. I am aware however that it is not good to go to notation too soon as it is important to hear what they are playing ie sound before the sign but I must thank you so much for introducing notation to be used as a resource when required. I hope to use notation as a way of allowing the children to compose songs maybe in their third term of playing (UK). Thank you.

How does one know how to translate that to the written notes, i.e. A is shown as the second from the bottom open line on the staff and the B note is on the middle staff line? Excuse me if I am getting ahead of you.
