"With all you people as role models, no wonder my son is... sensitive" This is it, the best episode of the series, theres a lot to this that needs big analysis. First of all the "when you see nothing have a little hope" part, I realized too late that because of what happened in Nature, Orel despises his dad and is very sad untl now, until he saw the seat next to him empty, and he had hope BECAUSE it was empty, he stopped being sad for a moment BECAUSE his dad wasn't around. Clay saying that what Jesus went through wasn't as big of a sacrifice as everyone say it is, because of the whole afterlife and heaven stuff from cristianity, death is very welcome. Jesus was good through his entire life and found death, Clay has been struggling to do that and is still alive, waiting for the death that will release him from the real life with the real problems he doesn't wanna deal with. To him, he is doing a bigger sacrifice than Jesus because he is still alive. A little detail that is kinda confusing is that Clay at least hints that he knows Putty was the one that had sex with Florence despite Clay being away when it happened, fun to overlook I guess. The thing with Dr Quentin Xavier Potterswheel's wife is not that she overdosed, heavily hinted near the end and with his scenes in the episode "Numb", it is believed in both Moral Orel universe and in the fandom that he has such a fetish with gruesome scars and injuries, that he didn't try to heal his wife when she was near death and instead he had her as a living fetish doll, if you may, and just giving her a lot of painkillers for pity. In this case it is believed he killed his wife because he was too aroused with her dying. Clay whole speech is amazing, its got that feeling of sadness over his situation, a broken man losing control of his life and yet, we know Clay. We know almost all the faults in his life are his own fault so we cannot feel sorry for him. At one point he tears up thinking about it, showing that he knows he caused damage to his family, but immediately soaks it up and angrily moves on. Clay may have started ranting about stuff he was irritated about, but by the end he was only saying stuff to cause a reaction, he wanted the three other men to hit him, because he was raised to believe that he is worth something when someone does physical harm to him, this again being his fault. After this they all leave instead of hitting him, they all see him as a broken man that is not worth getting their hands dirty with. Something interesting is that when they all enter the bar, there is a blinding light coming from the outside and everyone inside yelling at them to close the door. They all come into the bar to hide from it, none of them wants to deal with their own problems so they hide inside to be safe, but once they see what Clay has become by going that road, they all are finally ready to deal with it and walk outside into the light, leaving Clay inside all alone. In Orel's home, as Orel himself says "things sure have changed around here", every member of the family is different than what we saw on the start of the story. Orel is not on his usual happy mood, Clay has lost all the respect and love that he had left from his family, Bloberta has stopped being a clean maniac and instead doesnt mind leaving a huge mess when searching for the handkerchief, and Shapey is calm and can say something totally understandable. This last one hits the hardest tbh, we see little interaction between Shapey and Block, but when they both arrive home they immediately see how similar they are and understand each other. I am sure this is all that was really needed, all Shapey needed to not be a mess was a friend, someone who understands him, and he only got it this late into the story. Shapey at this point says "when i'm thirsty it feels how it feels when i'm alone", and beyond being shocking to the viewer hearing something new, it also can relate to the story of the 4 men in the bar, they all went into the bar to drink their sorrows away because they all felt alone. This is what the whole series led up to, this is it. Savoy - Bottomless Pit, I like this song a lot is very nice.
Also I have to say, it took me way too long to get the pacifists joke, just ocurred to me the other day what the punchline really was. "It looks like the only fists that are raised in this town are paci-fists"
This analysis was amazing! I think the reason Clay knew about the reverend sleeping with Florence was because he heard them arguing outside the bar and he might have just recognized her voice.
They weren't weak for walking away, there are just some things that a beating wont fix. It certainly didn't do anything for him as a kid... well nothing good. Clay is in a living Hell of his own making and he can't find a way to claw himself out, so he'd rather drag others in with him.
THIS. I see so many people rag on Potterswheel, Papermouth, and Putty for not beating him brain-dead, but some people are just too pathetic to bruise your knuckles on.
Yes bro! OMG! Like Clay was just BEGGING for it, any attention is good attention even if it's negative and stressful. Sometimes it's not worth it, even if it'll make you less bound by the worries of dealing with the person it's still tying you to them fr. Dragging you into their gross, toxic bullshit. Kinda sad in a way that he didn't get it too, dude was soooo close. God why's it when people challenge you to s fight and most especially with men it's like you obliged, almost honor bound to fight fr. Never made sense to me. Sidenote: the stuff with Dr Potters wheel had another angle, Bloberta only went to doctor cause she was attention starved and wanted affection and care. By injuring her privates which is what the "good" doctor got off too! It's not just about her overdosing, it's HOW and WHY! the stuff Clay said about feeling and not feeling the has a different ring to it. Honestly watching this show back months ago, while high ASF was probably one of the best things I ever did.
Shapey and Block are good for one another. Exactly the person each of them needed in the other's life to start progressing because they make one another feel less alone.
Its implied that Dr Potterswheel neglected to treat his wife of her infections because of his kink for bodily wounds. So he likely feels some guilt over letting his wife die over some sick sexual fetish.
the whole point is that clay wanted to be hit, so he could feel “worth it” also the doctor played a role in his wifes death cause he comes across as having some sort of pain kink ☠️
Whenever I think of Moral Orel This is the episode that pops into my head almost immediately. It all goes back to when Clay was a kid trying to get his father to hit him so that he'd pay attention to him. If they had beaten Clay they would have been giving him exactly what he wants. Attention. The only thing you can do to truly hurt Clay is ignore him. edit: I've been waiting to see so react to Shapey talking and it did not disappoint. That was almost my exact reaction. I paused immediately when I first heard that. This show is so good.
I find the the title for this episode ironic since really no one making any sacrifices. Its not like Clay choose to sacrifice his happiness for his kids or his wife. He thought having a family would make him happy. Now when he realizes it dosen't he pretends like he sacrifed his happiness for them when really he's not doin anyone any favors. This episode would have been the start to Shapey (& Block's) growth into maturity had the series not been cancelled.
Being honest I am 20 and I still don't want to return to school, because how much it sucked and prohibited stuff like drinking water, going to the toilet, start a small business and sell candy to learn about using money to make money. It really sucks ngl
Hey sorry I hope Raptor readin this rn but basically some shit happened a few days ago that made me lose all (my) personal internet access and I started to get a bit worried cause I didn’t want to be late with your uploads on Moral Orel, ESPECIALLY with this episode. I did manage to get on here to make a quick comment about this. I’m glad I could kinda relieve that stress by putting this out here for a bit but it does kinda suck it’s this episode I almost missed of all episodes lol
People like clay exist. Eventually, they end up destroying themselves. So just walk away, let them talk shit, even though they're really talking shit about themselves, and ignore them. They're not worth it.
Clay not getting hit in the bar took him right back to when his dad said he wasn't worth it.
Clays voice actor fuckin popped off this episode

Great analysis

Exactly, you can't let clay drag you down to his level.
Beatings never fix anything in the first place, thats the whole point
Shapey and Block are good for one another. Exactly the person each of them needed in the other's life to start progressing because they make one another feel less alone.
This episode was great, and Clay once again fails to get people to hit him to show their "love"
Also I'm excited for his reaction to Nesting
9:50 Clay air-humps Reverend Putty and does the >:3 face
"y'all know what the definition of insanity is?"
"NO! YOU! DON'T!"

Clay was on demon time this episode ☠️

I’m sure he killed a lot of people with his mutilation fetish
Definitely one of the best episodes in the show. Free Churro shit
