Beautiful house and the landscape and brick pathways are lovely. I'm not a fan of boulders though, it always feels like the boulders need to be moved out and the area cleaned up, but that is just me.
These limestones , do they not have risk of slipping in case of earthquake. Where i live we had an earthquake once. Houses here used big black rocks to build house cemented by limestones. It was long ago. In that earthquake the limestone slipped, the black stones falling like house of cards killing many.
On Mackinac island they are called cottages. They are summer homes for people that have them. No one is being pretentious. I would encourage you to do a bit of research on the area and if you ever get the chance to see the island in person. While this house and property may be on a scale larger than some have, watching videos like this can be used as inspiration for a more scaled back version.
