I went to elementary school there from '85-'91. This is the first I've heard about this. I have had my share of strange health issues that haven't been easily explainable.
I went to school there.1978-79 Mrs. Evers 2nd grade. Mr Cunningham was the Principal. I had Mrs. Menconi 1st grade. I still have my old report cards and school class picture. I lived on Conner Ave. End of Pusan Way.
I was at E.T.M.S. from kindergarten to 6th grade 89-96. I’m thankful that I’ve not had any health issues from the chemical exposures. Sadly not everyone was so lucky.
In the 60's, I was a civillan on the base working at the Marine Corp Exchange. I have a number of illnesses, including Heart AFIB, but because I was Not a Marine, lawyers exclude me from the lawsuits. Not right. I got deadly illnesses there.
I went to that school and lived in officer housing on the base from '79-'81. I am 41 now and couldn't be in better health. Maybe I have a stronger immune system.
That whole place is a ticking time bomb. Its full of TCE, Uranium, and other Abestos and now they want people living there and placing parks. This is ridiculous
Went there from ‘86-‘88. All the contamination aside, I really enjoyed that school! Sad to see it gone.
That's scary- my little sister and I attended El Toro Elementary School from 1979 through August, 1981. Thanks for posting!

Hi classmates!
Been a long time Matt. I remember you. Stayed there until 98. I lived in Midway Place. Many of us moved to the inland empire after it closed.

My son went to Kindergarten at that school in 1993.
asbestos as fire proofing but that would have been done in accordance with fire code regulations meaning reapplied before the material degrades
