  • Predator engine charging flywheel swapped led lights on go kart mini bike and more with predator 212 charging coils or electric start.
    This video will show you how to install a wiring harness for go kart headlights and led lights. You can make this charing system light kit for a mini bike as well, or anything you predator swap an engine in or use a small 212cc engine for. This is a light generator mod wiring diagram based headlight kit.
    One of the engines is the predator 212 charging system kit installed from amazon purchase and has electric start. The other engine magnet flywheel used comes with the coleman mini bike headlight kit on a coleman bt200x, ct200u-ex and can also see a similar charging coils setup and flywheel on the new coleman rb200. The engine does not come with LED lights or a battery chagring system which is where THIS video can help you get rid of LED flicker when LED headlights are installed on a mini bike or go kart, or again, other anything including snow thrower and more!
    I break this video into two parts: the first has a wiring diagram for any engine to add the wires needed for charging a battery and also shows battery type needed and fuse needed. Then, the second part shows some engine options such as electric start on the tillotson 212, the duramax 212cc, and an extreme sports 212cc engine with charging coils. The non-hemi predator engine used is 212cc with electric start kit for model 69730. I have reference that the HEMI engine might be able to use Kohler electric start flywheel part number 1702530S ??
    Although the predator 212cc electric start, charging gear, coils, and flywheel all work in the predator - if you are starting with a NEW engine and looking for a billet flywheel, the billet flywheel does not knowingly exist at this time. A POSSIBLY 10,000 rpm rated tilloston magnet flywheel, however, might exists on the Tillotson 212 with electric start.
    I've asked about bringing this part into the US by itself, but the distributor will need to break news on that one if possible.
    This install will allow you to get battery powered mini bike led lights and install go kart lights quickly. I hope all the color coding helped out and I hope you have a GREAT day!

    I'm about to wire my Odyssey and this is the bee's knees as far as DIY tutorial. 2 ques.
    1. With one charging coil do I just leave the male end open that would have connected to the 2nd coil?
    2. My engine has an electric start. Do I just stack another hot wire from battery to solenoid and stack another ground from battery to engine? It starts with just the two connections. I'm just basically using and converting the coils power via the rectifier but still using battery to start? (which I have.and plan to fab your harness). Hope your well. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks - Josh

    I was a bit confused about the wiring adapters from two charging coils that were found on the "electric start motor kit" link in your description. They come together in a white adapter but in the video, they were single wires. Is it possible to remove the white wire adapter from them or could that adapter still be used for the head lights?

      I do actually, great suggestion! The coils struggle taking power away from the engine and the coils need to be external so I need to up the power and change jetting to compensate. I'm looking into specs on it but I do not have a complete solution. The billet flywheel for the predator engine is very pricey and not in current video budget, but has a larger outer magnet to test with (taper untested for fit).

    • @megoingfast

      Yes. If you only run at night, the battery will go into 'maintain' mode while consuming power and charging kind of levels it out if using very intense bulbs like I'm using. It makes for a very bright light but it's a very small charge. If however you are running the engine without the light on it charges very nicely and when you need to flip the lights on they're very nicely ready to go.

    What's up my Friend...You are to me the finest person who shows exactly how to do something from start to finish and everything in between.. Red Beard is TOO fast and doesn't explain things good enough for people never doing this such thing before. I use to race lay down Karts in Chantilly, Va. about 50 yrs ago.. Cars and Cameras are about 30 mins away from in Greenville, N.C. Back when I was running karts we just had battery to starter, ground and a push button momentary switch to crank them. These sorry ass new China made stuff is something.. Are you using the starter switch that came with the electric start kit? I'm building me a Dingo with predator engine with electric start. I want while the key is set on run (before cranking and after) to be a accessory for the lights that way when I turn it off the light will go off if I have forgotten to turn light switch off. Can the switch that come with the electric start be made to do this or is another switch needed? trying to make this short, but impossible.. The Red wire and the White wire coming for this switch box are Hot. The wht./blk wire coming out goes to a single charging coil.. I'm wondering isn't there a way to make the white hot wire here run to the solenoid and make this switch work acc. and run the light without cranking when you turn it to the run position. Also, couldn't the lights be wired in series like tying the black from 1 to the red of the other and that will leave 2 black wires, which 1 is actually Hot? Put a piece of red tape a few places on it so you will know. Instead of wiring them parallel. Or do they have to be wired in parallel. Main question is, I guess, Can the switch that comes with the electric start kit be made to have accessory or with this switch just crank the engine? Thanks and sorry for long post..

      Yes and not really. The p15d replacement bulb had many LED replacements that fit, but the engine is not putting out DC energy which LEDs are best suited to work on. Basically you're making a strobe light that can burn out an LED quickly. However, I've not tested all replacements, only a handful.

    I've watched this video a few times. If I'm understanding correctly, the electric start kits are not good because the flywheels are not good and because they don't come with a flywheel fan. The Coleman flywheel might be better in terms of construction however there is no such thing as a "Coleman" charging flywheel with the starter ring gear.
    Not sure where this leaves us if wanting both elec start and a quality flywheel I don't need a billet flywheel and won't be building a high-RPM engine.

    • @megoingfast
      @megoingfast  2 года назад

      Tillotson 212ee, electric start, complete engine. Flywheel rated for 6k, with bursts up to 10k for not prolonged durations. There are some charging options if you custom fab here and there, but they are hard to find. For a predator hemi version engine, the Kohler flywheel is a higher quality, but cannot match the Tillotson.

    • @megoingfast

      The electric start kits, all 3 I've had my hands on, were trash quality. I use them, they can work, might need a tweak might not. But overall I won't trust them to spin 5k myself. I run with a torque converter so it keeps rpm lower.

    • @thenexthobby
      @thenexthobby 2 года назад +1

      @@megoingfast That's my thinking too, My RB200 has a torque converter and I have no interest in high RPMs for it. The kits seem like the easiest way to get flywheel/shroud/starter at once. Starters and shrouds I've seen separately, but charging flywheels with ring gear not so much. Perhaps since I'm not concerned about high RPMs I should not worry about it.

    I was confused by your fuse placement in the actual wiring harness. It does not match your wiring diagram. The wiring harness as you configured it pulls the positive side directly off the battery terminal, so the current going to the light system from the battery does not pass through the fuse. There is no fuse protection for the lighting circuit and all the fuse does is protect the wiring between the regulator/rectifier and the battery.

    • @megoingfast
      @megoingfast  2 года назад

      The battery should not have a surge coming from it to need protection from. The surge can come from the generating coils on over rev. You're protecting the battery and circuit there after. A flashlight should not need fuse between battery and light, for example.

    • @byronmill
      @byronmill 2 года назад

      @@megoingfast the main purpose for a fuse is to protect against an overcurrent condition. That is almost always caused by a dead short in the wiring (pinched wires, failed insulation, etc) as most devices fail open as opposed to shorted out. No fuse protection for wiring harnesses is how they get melted and/or fires start.
      Any "surge" in the charging system from over reving would be a high voltage condition, not high current. A fuse will not blow from over voltage.

    If I add electric start do I need to use the normal key switch panel? I’d rather use a traditional motorcycle key switch on “the dash” of my RB200. Incidentally these come with a regulator.
    I haven’t yet found Coleman’s parts page but it’s shown here, www.monsterscooterparts.com/brands/coleman/models/coleman-rb200-mini-bike-parts/4-pin-rectifier-voltage-regulator-coleman-rb200-mini-bike.html

    • @megoingfast
      @megoingfast  2 года назад +1

      I do not use the key panel. It's bulky. You connect the coils to the regulator same as in video, they charge the battery only and everything else runs off battery. The solenoid can have its circuit completed coming off the battery from a key and the starter just hooks to battery to ground with the solenoid completing the circuit on key turn.

    • @thenexthobby
