I've heard it standing right next to it when Steve was playing. Fabulous amp. It'll get any sound you'd ever want - and trust me - Steve gets a LOT of different sounds, certainly with the Dregs!
Well 2300€ for this Engl in Europe... For comparison: Diezel VH4 - 2900€ Soldano SLO - 4400€ I wouldn't say that this one hugely expensive. Especially if compare with some others really expensive ones.
If for someone 2k$ to much, there is always solutions. Same clone pre-amp would be cost around ~250..350$ Clone for full amp (without midi interface) with any wattage you want (20,50,100) cost around 700..950$ Check "Crab" amps for example.
I'm pretty sure that the Steve Morse model has been around for longer than the Invader II. ETA: It was released in 2008, whereas the Invader II was released in 2014.
I remember when it came out. Morse was using the original Invader (not sure if 150 or 100) and it's based on that. There are pics floating around of Morse's rack with an Invader in it. I have an Invader and Channel 1 and 2 of the Morse are pretty similar to it. Channel 3 of the Morse is where it has its own thing. I would love to own a Morse someday. They're still pricey used.
Hah! I JUST wanted to write a comment about the Thunder 50 Reverb Combo, because...i gained it back from a friend. Don't know now why i EVER gave it away! It has that wild-boar- Chainsaw-Sound, not compressed that much, great low-mid intermodulations... that satisfies the Metal-Beast inside of me, and though i'm also an Ambient - Guy, the ENGL makes sure, that i play MEAN and EVIL riffs... I'm happy as can be. Cheers!
Man, pulling out that SZ with the EMGs just immediately reminded me of an old internet friend of mine from the ESP forums back in the day that had one just like that. The very reason I first ever put EMGs in a guitar of mine.
Additional (probably boring) info. There is a very small number of these that have misprinted master volume labels . They both say 'Master B' rather than 'Master A, Master B'. I emailed Engl about this and they recalled any that hadn't been sold but don't know how many misprints are in circulation.
Sounds really good-i always liked the demos I heard on the invader this seems to have that mojo too-i never played through anything but a fireball 60-cool amp
Doesn't sound right without being plugged into an ENGL XXL cab. Said cab will run circles around any Mesa oversized cab out there considering it's bigger and also heavier.
The XXL Pro cab definitely sounds bigger. Significantly more lows and highs. It sounds more fun in the room. So much of that "extra" gets EQ'd out live or in a recording just to get a closer tone to what the Mesa puts out.
@@BrunodeSouzaLino I'm not debating that the dimensions are different, you are. I'm saying that taste is subjective, specifically pointing to the opinion that you shared in your original post
Don't know why it "flies under the radar"... it's well known. I know most people define a high gain tone by the "american standard 5150/rectifier... type of tone" but, especially in europe, engl, diezel have been used by many artists.
Dude, I need this amp. Is it true bypass? Real tubes or nanobots? Does it have a sweet spot? Is it nonbinary? Can it get well behaved tones? Asking for a friend
soundwise i agree, but don't ask amp techs about the internals, they'd tell you another story. i havn't had any problems with my powerball 2 so far though.
I was really looking forward to this!!! I'm glad you liked the amp; I was hoping it wouldn't be labeled as terribly compressed and dark... By the way, the change with the EMGs was drastic because you had the 'Hi-gain' mode engaged. It's a global switch, just like the 'Tone.' So, every channel has both Low and High gain modes. Tonally speaking, which one do you love more, this or the Silver Jubilee? (Steve Morse himself was a huge fan of the Jube and its voicing was supposed to somewhat influence this amp. I wonder if there's any resemblance between the two...)
I bought one when they first came out. 2010 or so. Didnt care for it. Its not a metal amp. The Engl invader 100 i had was definitely more metal. Just didnt care for rhe voicing of the Morse. Actually i got te Morse back around 2008.
Let's see...$300.00 dollar pedal (UA ANTI) or $3,000.00 overcomplicated tube amp...Hmmmm? I will go with the pedal for high gain stuff every time. I try to focus my spending on great guitars as opposed to amps these days.
One of the best sounding amps you've had on the channel in a while. Also my favorite ENGL tone
I've heard it standing right next to it when Steve was playing. Fabulous amp. It'll get any sound you'd ever want - and trust me - Steve gets a LOT of different sounds, certainly with the Dregs!
Really great sounds, especially with low tuned guitars. The King In Yellow pedal sounds incredible good!
I have additional information about this amp. It's blue.
Sold!
Dang, I'm color blind, so I would have never known!
Thanks!

That's an amp?
The clarity on this amp is fantastic. Please bring back the title fight riffs Kyle!!! They’d sound great for the medium gain and crunchy segments 👀👀
Kyle, please do a 3 way shootout between this, the Fireball and the Artist Edition 🤘🤘🤘
i too would like to see more comparisons to the artist edition, it’s only 2200$ new 😂
engls are cool cause they actually tell you all the different cabinets u can use… clearly labeled on the back of the amp.
Wow jack of all trades amp for sure... Awesome drop tuned low end growls especially with a 7-string that has fat strings. Very awesome 👌🏽
This one is hugely versatile, also hugely expensive 🥶
US? Where I live it's pretty affordable for a high end 100W tube amp

i just bought one @ month ago. Sounds great! I put EL34L's in it to add a little more bottom end.
Great video, brutha!!! @17:07 I was stunned with the tone without boost straight in; I'm betting in the room it shakes guts!
Nice work, KB.
i wish you tested it with the Engl XXL cab. 😅

JESUS, the tone with the Ibanez SZ320 and the MXR GT-OD was brooooooootal. DANG DANG!
EMGs + ENGL is the tits. Can’t go wrong 🤘
Are you trying to say you’re hungover?
What song you playing at 18:22 ?
ENGL 50 watt Thunder has been my favourite from their lineup.

Love my Morse 100 watt. Best Engl amp they made.

Please, Kyle, do a comparison between both Engl amps, Savage vs Morse.
There’s something slow with how Engls react in the low end. Like the low end lags. Or am I crazy?
Sounds so good
Been using one for years. Boogies gathering dust..
This amp has a great "wetness" to it that sounds really nice.
Have you ever tried the Victor Smolski Engl?

😂 ok bro
I used to want the Victor Smolski ENGL - if you get your hands on one that would be great content. Cheers! 🍻
Sounds great. Special order only these days?
@8:57, on channel 3, when you engage the mid switch, the low mid 1 knob magically goes to noon, lol?!? 😅

Thanks for the acdc Kyle glad I suggested
ENGL amps are the best! I have the Powerball 2 and the Iron Ball SE and I'm extremely satisfied with them.
Damn bro pretty nasty tones IMO in that incredible way.
I get happy face when you play the Strung Out riff
Are you in Kohle Audio Kult? So am I! 🤘
Yeah this is a ripper, I've played one and it's super tight and bangs.
Engl acoustic 120 watt air amp review ?
A friend of mine in town had one of these for years. Always sounded awesome. I also remember it having a beautiful clean channel.
My Powerball II has the best clean channel I’ve ever played. For metal focused amps, they have incredible clean tone.

This or Invader 2? Anyone tried both?
Dang, only if they made it in a 20watt version lunchbox amp size, I'd be all over it. 🧐
Peavey Triumph vs Mesa mk iii or IV.

Tumeni knobs and switches. Give me the ENGL Fireball.

those PRS PAF's sound more "PAF'y" than gibby PAFs. if that makes any kind of damn sense..

Lame. You could get a 1000$ 6505 like the rest of us. Sending a pedal to do an amps job… smh
A pedal is a "preamp", you can't power speakers with THAT pedal.
