So true. I mean everyone from congress and anyone come at you. I dot know how much he get pay but for me that much stress are not worth it. I mean it is about supply and demand. The shareholder want to decrease the salary ceo or average the problem is the supply. We have ceo in shortage and abundant average do the math. Market works. This economic disconnect really stands out when one compares today's executive pay to what their predecessors were paid for creating most of the major corporations involved. Senior executive compensation reached the grotesque levels we see today because corporate governance was compromised, antitrust law enforcement was marginalized, and CEO'S handpicked the board and compensation committee members who determined their pay over recent decades. The "market" had precious little to do with it.

You're crazy if you think shareholders would vote to pay an employee (since that's exactly what a CEO is) such amounts if they could pay less. Also, Citigroup has over 200,000 employees. If you fired the CEO and gave away his salary to the employees, they would each make 120 dollars a year more. CEO salaries are fine and are a drop in the bucket of money companies make. Once again, politicians make statements that sound like they are of substance, but ultimately are just a bunch of pathetic virtue signaling statements.

Also no one is talking about justifications for his paycheck rather just keep brining up the pay ratio. If board decides your paycheck to be few millions and feel like you have earned it without hampering companies financials and growth would you be saying “oh no I am getting paid too much”? GTFOH! Besides I do not see CITI employees making any issues nor anyone bringing up average weighted pay ratio. Class wars. The natural state of man is poverty. Since the beginning of history 80% of all humans were in poverty.
And that was true up until about 150 years ago, when it began its decline to below 10% today. That is globally, not just in the US. This due to the capitalist and individual rights systems of the west.
To be in the top 1% globally, a family of three needs a household income of $45,000 annually. Anyone in this country should feel blessed.
I also think that most people are not smart enough to know what money is. Or what wealth is.
Money has no value. None at all.
Imagine an alien stopping on earth preparing for the journey home. What has value to the alien. $500,000 worth of plutonium, or $500BB in non-consecutive bills?
Money is a Representation of Relative Value. It is not value itself.
If you are so worried about income inequality, let’s give everyone a base salary of $200,000 on top of their salary. Then all of us would be wealthy.

That has to be the most uniformed and sycophantic opinions I have witnessed. You're staring at the most overprivileged, entitled corporate welfare queens in the country (i.e., banking CEO's) and you can't even see it. Since it was lost on you, those are the very ass hats who caused the financial crusis, got bailed out after committing a slew of financial crimes and bribed the federal government to keep their national embezzlement scheme running. They pulled that scam off by using U.S. taxpayer dollars, while fighting to evade THEIR tax responsibilities to the nation.

The problem is this woman is on the cusp of making a good point but because she’s a congresswoman not a businesswoman, she can’t differentiate the fact the tax cuts work and have worked and our economy is booming, where she goes wrong is to suggest to pay everyone more and pay himself less, even if he lowered his salary to 50k a year the millions of dollars left over dispersed to employees would literally equate to a few dollars each, they have thousands of employees you can’t just say raise their salaries. What should be done is acknowledge the tax cuts work because it puts more money in the hands of employers allowing them to hire more people, the stipulation should be the tax cuts should indirectly have to go to employees/ re invest into the business, the left over profit from the tax cuts shouldn’t go to ceo, but don’t discredit the tax cuts that are responsible for the low unemployment and strong economy we have right now.

The problem with your tax cut argument is that it is out of touch with proven math principles, fiscal reality and U.S. economic history. Republican tax cuts have never and will never be self-funded because any tax structure that is less progressive than the progressive distribution of national income and wealth will only produce growing national debt. Why? Math! Reagan and the neoliberal crowd have proven this to be true since he was stupid enough to reduce taxes on the wealthy and corporations in the 1980's. Growing national debt did not manifest itself in the U.S. until Reagan and his neoliberal ilk wrecked the national tax code.

Will D lower the spending, stop taking( taxing) and giving it to people who aren’t paying into the system and guess what, there won’t be any debt, and even with tax increases from Obama he still saw the biggest % increase in the national debt, % is the point because I’m not gonna try and pull a falsehood and say it’s the highest dollar amount because although it is, it’s relative to the amount there was when he came into office, but still debt increases rapidly because the gov, even with tax increase, increase spending past the point of what they were taking in, cut taxes, cut spending and there will not be any debt, and yes the tax cuts have produced the economy we have now, steady amazing gdp growth and the lowest unemployment numbers we’ve seen in a long time.

@@Johnny974 The problem with your spending argument is that it has been utter bullshit since the Republican Party began spewing that fraud. The problem this country faces with its government can be traced to neoliberal politicians in both parties, since Richard Nixon was elected in 1968. I'm referring to Republican, Tea Party and Third Way Democratic politicians. In stark contrast, Progressive Democrats are the only politicians who have displayed any economic or fiscal competence whatsoever. I'm not pointing this out over political differences. Instead, it is over the merits of the underlying economic, fiscal and mathematics principles involved. Allow me to point out that growing national debt is directly tied to decades of Republican economic and fiscal reforms and practices, NOT those of Democrats. Case in point, it was Reagan and his ilk who ushered in the era of growing deficits and national debt when he slashed government revenues and engaged in deficit spending. I will also point out that Congressional Republicans repeatedly abandon fiscal discipline every time they are in the majority or White House. So, stop blaming government for the problem when it is actually politicians who share your economic/fiscal beliefs and narratives who are ALWAYS found to be the culprits behind dysfunctional government. Donald Trump, Mitchell McConnell and former House Speaker Paul Ryan epitomize this seditious/treasonous conduct.
