Wow, thank you for covering Imperium and your enthusiasm for the game, it means a lot. It's been a journey and that people are enjoying it now is great to see.
Thanks for the awesome thoughts and nice words!! Wanted to reply on the "development choice" thing: the "easy" nations all have fewer developments than average, and you're only faced with the development choice mid-to late game. Egyptians for example are rated higher difficulty mostly because you have to care about the development choice from the get go. :)
I absolutely love this game and I am really glad to see it getting a positive reception, especially as David and Nigel have been exemplary in their level of engagement with the public on BGG. Although not relevant in solo and two player games, I like the fact that in three and four player games the attack cards affect all other players, so you are not picking on just one other player.
This is a masterpiece for sure. Some ideas in this game like the auto upgrade deck on each reshuffle with your civilisation deck are so great. It feels obvious and makes wondering why nobody did it before ! I love this game !!!
I absolutely love this game. I’ve already logged about 38 games from maybe a month of owning it, which easily is already one of my most played games of all time. I’ve only played 4 with other players, but the solo version keeps me busy indefinitely. Some of my favorites include Minoans, Olmecs, Atlanteans, and Carthaginians. I had a game that was Utopians vs. Arthurians and was the weirdest game I’ve played of this. The art is absolutely amazing, and I love all the references on the cards. I’m just amazed this game has continued to keep me so interested. I like your shirt too!
Quick fix for a care bear variant: Every card that target another player card could target a market instead or absolutely nothing. Like you said, you could also add a dummy player but it could add maintenance to the game that already has plenty going on imho.
I've been watching you for years, and I don't think I've ever seen you so enthused! This game, then, looks like a must-have. I thank you for your videos! (My wallet hates you, though. Ha ha!)
The Solo game of the year for me. This one really pushes all the buttons. Combined 16 nations all with different focuses give you so much replayability. I Love Mico's art. I have issues with the tokens though. Production quality could have been a bit better but doesn't really affect how wonderful this game is. I don't see the attack cards as an issue. It just slows you down. Plus it costs an action that they could use to help with their focus. It just seems more of a deterrent than actually breaking up your engine. I only play solo so that may be the issue.
@@darren.mcauliffe it's an automa opponent to beat. paul grogan of gaming rules did a good video demo of it here: ruclips.net/video/fjgb6PJImRM/видео.html
Yeah it's a shame they didn't go for better production quality. The tokens are especially confusing as the colours and art don't fit the rest of the game at all. I'll have to look for upgraded components, and will probably have to be the first game I sleeve from what I've read, as the card quality seems very poor and not up to multiple shuffles.
I had been keeping an eye on this game ever since the original, yet unsuccessful Kickstarter. Pre-ordered both boxes when my FLGS listed them. Played a bunch now and it’s an instant classic for me. Great duo.
I'm really on the fence with this one. Everything about it I love. Sadly, there are misprints, different card sizes, erratas, etc. that deter me from pushing the buy button. It really makes me want to wait for a reprint. At the same time, I'm afraid it won't get one.
re: typos, there's a couple of "need to use a sharpee to turn a 2 to a 3" type errors in legends, but afaik there's none in classics, so you could start there re: card sizes, i've played a half dozen times and never noticed. it wasn't until i saw your message and went and looked it up that i found they were off by the tiniest bit (a fraction of a millimeter). doesn't affect shuffling at all, pretty much invisible unless you're actively looking for it
it's been many years since i've played CW so my memory is spotty, but i wouldn't say so. they're both deckbuilders, but you're going after very different activities in both games, and the deckbuilding is handled very differently as well
@@nigelbuckle3759 That's good to know, I haven't played CW but I've been interested in it for some time now. Imperium is a lot prettier and seems even crunchier so I might just go for that instead. I appreciate how active you are in BGG and elsewhere by the way, thank you for replying.
I wasn’t sure if this was going to be a ‘Rahdo-game’ but looks like it is. :) I have played 8 games in a week now, some solo some 2p, has been great fun - even when you “accidentally” derail your own deck and realize only later that your current nation is about st entirely different. :)
Imperium: Horizon has an option for less "take that" in the rulebook (attack cards chnaged for a less hostioile game. Sounds like your kind of thing :)

i'm sure most folks wouldn't bat an eye at the attackey cards... i'll freely admit they are mostly mild at best
