@Eva Bolton Not yet. A Set time for the video to go live.
Love this kind of videos, great style!
My great grandfather was a Swiss watchmaker, and when he came to the US, went to work in the Waltham watch company. I have a box of screws, springs and assorted parts passed to my grandfather, father, then me. Awesome video!
Nearly 2am now, should be asleep but have been completely engrossed with this restoration. Ends up to be a beautiful looking watch. Also thought the microscope shots were superb. Great job!
what you do is an art, I do not understand how I had not discovered this channel before, thank you very much for taking your time and for teaching us the magic you do with watches.
Dear Mike, thanks for this video and every previous ones which I (like many others) regularly watch. You helped me to enjoy getting rusty metal parts back together and tick again (and buying tools..), so, humble but massive thanks to you for sharing your time and great skills!! Please keep on spreading your contagious good mood in saving time keepers of all kinds. Gilles
appreciate these videos and am very glad you mentioned "if we want to do a watch, do it". I am in a vintage pocket watch group on Facebook. I took my 1st 18s apart, got stuck a few times but in the end with patience and perseverance I got it to work again and as I didn't know 'till later all she needed was a stem replacement.
*_Beautiful job, a pleasure to observe the work and the finished deal. Congratulations._*
Got into the watch watching over lockdown, very relaxing to watch. Your vid was great. Love the way you call the pieces by there name and can feel the struggle at time in your work. Great learning vid. Thanks for filming A
Thanks Mike. Helpful for me as I start the hobby.
Lovely job. Really enjoyed the video. And the cleaning interlude was superb. I was smiling and tapping my foot, and it satisfies my OCD to see parts nicely cleaned.
Lovely watch and a great outcome, Mike. Thanks for making the video. Seeing that balance jump into life gave me a huge thrill - even vicariously..! I love that Pioneer movement holder.
Beautiful watches that you bring for service and restoration ... in addition to being your guides and ways of explaining are very clear ... very good to indicate with time the sections of the video ..
Thank you so much .
Nice "watch cleaning" ragtime music. Very enjoyable. Good job on the rebuild. Keep at it.
not sure how I got here and I most certainly should have been doing many other things. Very entertaining video, I stuck around for the entire thing. quite impressed. Thanks for the nice hour break from my tasks
That’s fantastic. Strange how the algorithm works sometimes and offers you a video you would not expect.
Pleased you enjoyed this one. There’s is plenty more 😉😉
Great job. Perfect band for this watch too. It's my favorite when you service really 'vintage' watches. For me, that's pre-1970.
Thank you. I intend to do more like this soon. Thanks for watching.
+1 for the accurist restoration. Great job on the Waltham, love the all dial look.
Fantastic transformation!
Thanks for a good video, I got one of these for a graduation present in 1964 just starting messing with watches. 😊
Watch looks amazing .
Thank you for letting us know that this is good for beginners, I have my Grandfather's Waltham so I think I'll have a go at it . Really like your videos Thanks
Thanks Mike, your finding lost parts resonates as we all do it, and I seem to find lost parts from old projects every time! (Thank God for spare fhf parts) I work on a Waltham as I watch, mine has a centre second hand, but similar to yours, marked ST. Clear jewels are not uncommon in fhf, same thing, but different. Well played sir, best hobby ever.❤
Thank you. I find a magnet or a pet hair sticky roller thing helps to find missing parts!
Good luck with your repairs
Love that watch Mike, great job!. Love the music at the end👍. Bring on the accurist.
Adrian Birkett okay then Accurist will go in the queue.
What a little beauty! I actually lived about 300 yearns from the Waltham factory. Really cool building. Excellent job.
Thank you very much!
I love to see a watch that was thought lost brought back to life. Great work!
Another watch pulled from the boneyard, brought back to life. Great job Mike, the watch is beautiful.
Great job 👍 and very informative
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Excelente trabajo saludos desde Argentina
Lovely loopings watch! Nicke restauration!
A pleasure see your work, thank you very much!!. Nice watch!
Very enjoyable video Mike, and a lovely looking watch :-)
Thanks Mate!
What a fantastic transformation, I have a similar looking Avia Cadet. I think this must have been a popular style in early 1960s. Keep the videos coming.
Um trabalho muito gratificante parabéns pelo trabalho, nota 10
Absolutely fantastic
Beautiful watch! ... good for the work !! ... what is impressive is that those calibers with 18000 bph achieve high rates of precision, despite being produced decades ago when precision manufacturing was not so advanced ... all a technical feat.
Lovely job!
another amazing work, more power
Hi Mike what a great result, the watch looks amazing well done. I am a beginner and have been watching some of your other videos and find them them really very good with great advice offered for the hobbyist. I also have a few old vintage watches which I now want to try and restore and will be following your methods as best I can. In relation to crystal replacement as I don't have a box of these like you have I will need to find new ones for my project. It would be very useful for you to do a video going through the process of how to select a generic replacement crystals for vintage watches from a site such as Cousins taking into account all the considerations such as measurements, materials and styles etc. Keep up the good work.
I love these watches. I wish they would still make them like this at prices I could afford.
loved this video! thank you for making it and walking through every step. i really want to learn to do this (restore), but watching this i was on the edge of my seat the whole time... the watch is gorgeous now!
Thank you for commenting. Watches like this are the most rewarding to do. Glad you enjoyed it.
@@MyRetroWatches do you then sell them?
@@pandoble no they go into my collection

Greetings from Brazil Mike! Awesome video! Love see you bring back to life those little pieces of history! Keep up the good work! 😎🍺
Thank you ! My audience really is world wide!
Great video and a lovely looking retro watch. I can't help but think that that crystal was perfectly cued up for you to find in your collection lol.
My main thought was the barrel spring may be damaged but I only saw it going back in complete after the cleaning interlude.
Great video
Great restoration footage and great result!
Lovely 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great vídeo, lovely Waltham watch, congratulations.
Many thanks!
Its actually a beautiful watch, great restoration!
I think vintage Walthams are beautiful watches, even after they were being made in Switzerland. I own 2 vintage Walthams from the 1960s and I am very impressed with their simple elegance.
It looks fantastic, clean classic lines, very stylish on the wrist. Another great transformation loved the video.👍⌚
Thanks Jeni
Mike, I thoroughly enjoyed your restoration! I am not a watchmaker nor do I have any delusions of becoming one. I am, however, so appreciative of the engineering of a mechanical watch. Just bought the Hamilton intra matic (38 mm) with champagne dial with the 2892~2 movement.
It is very satisfying to watch something so "dead" come back to life in your very capable hands. A beautiful piece resurrected!
thank you. Glad you enjoyed it.
What a smart watch looks great on the wrist, well done
Outstanding video. love your comments and teaching style. Inspires me to try this.
Go for it! Its what my channel is all about , I show what I can do as a hobbyist and hope to inspire more into this.
A great restoration as always ! Very tricky moments, but you have finished it successfully, well done mate ! Very very nice watch indeed !!
Thanks
Great job!!
Great restoration - Thanks !!
Many thanks!
That was great! Accurist next please!!
Excellent job well done.
Really nice!
Excellent job. You really impress me. Good quality craftsmanship. Good show. Thanks for downloading. Happy new year. Stay safe. Johnny, Montreal Canada
Bom dia, escrevo de Goiânia capital do estado de goias Centro do Brasil, parabéns pelo magnífico trabalho o relogio ficou como saiu de fábrica o Sr.é um verdadeiro artista.Continue assim.Deus abençõa.Jason
I don't know what it is about the look of this watch but I really love it especially the dial. Thank you for the upload.
Thanks. It’s a classic look of a dress watch mixed with some age and water damage patina. I just like that it’s been brought back to life from the scrap bin. Wears really nice too.
Thanks for watching .
Very cool comeback for that watch. Nice job on the repairs.
Glad you enjoyed it
Awesome resto Mike. That watch cleaned up a treat. Really turned out quite nice. I'd own that one. Nice find and great work as usual. Congrats
Cheers
That is a beautiful watch...well restored!
Yes to the Accurist! My latest addition is an Accurist chronograph (first Accurist I've bought) and it's a little beauty. Would love to see you work miracles on one!
I will try . The dial is really bad though .
@@MyRetroWatches That's a shame, it's so tricky to restore/clean a dial without actually making it worse.
Superb!
That turned out to be a great looking watch! Amazing that you found those previously lost screws and jewel while searching for the shock mount spring. Glad you finally found it in the last place you looked of course! 🙃
I almost forgot I lost that spring on this watch!
Thanks for watching. I was only wearing this one yesterday
Working on one now Mike. Learned alot from your video's. Great job on this one. Thanks for the video.
Bravo! Wonderful job. There is a product in the US called Rust Free. It is sold in wood working supply stores. It’s primary use is for removing rust from cast iron table saw tops. It worked great for me.
Thanks for the tip. I’m now looking into rust removing solution
Great restoration, I'd wear it in a "Heart beat"! Thanks for sharing. I'm looking for information on Garsons watches from the 1930's and 40s.
Lovely watch
Good !!!👍👍👍
love this channel.....maybe you can make tutorial about every part of watch...i'm very interesting to learn some new...thanks
Great project Mike, I am very jealous of your crystal collection. You definitely deserve that beer. 🍺
Thanks, joblots often pop up on ebay, I do buy from time to time. All the Seiko and gaskets I have added myself.
Oh yes for the Accurist m8, I have quietly been gathering old Accurist bits and pieces and Rotary as well as they both have outstanding build and quality levels. One of my Accurist's has a right proper ETA quartz in it and that is a movement good enuff for an Omega. Today's haul for mine is three quartz, a Peterwerth monster rectangle, a Lorus divers watch with torch and backlit dial and a Ben Nevis "turtle" homage watch from Aliexpress... which looks a lot like the Seiko, if I can fix the janky bezel click I might be happier as its sloppier than a spaniel eating a toffee :P Got an even bigger watch incoming called a Qmax which is a hex shaped monster at 60mm on the widest bit, that's gonna be heavy man lol I wore my Indian Ricoh for a couple of days and it is flawless, thanks for re-inspiring me to try out the Bombay Bad Boys again, the Reamer er Roamer is pretty good but that Ricoh is a delight to wear.
Nice job 👌
Loved the cleaning bit hehe
AV Cuber thanks. Completely random , just hit on an idea and went with it.
@@MyRetroWatches I think it's a nice effect 😉
Отлично, великолепная работа мастера!
My Retor watches you are good at restoring vintage watches ⌚️ my friend
Nice!
Brilliant ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Never fails, 9/10 if the crown is missing the keyless works are corroded. I always give a second thought to buying a watch that's missing the stem/crown unless I have a donor laying round.
very good work. i like it
Bravo!
I know the feeling of sheer despair when you lose a part. They turn up eventually, long after you stopped looking and purchased a replacement.
As always, thoroughly enjoyed watching you transform that Waltham. Good eyes and a steady hand are obviously a major tool of the trade. I have often wondered about working with the small ladies watches, which were more the fashion in my younger days, must have been difficult?
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed this one. Yes ladies mechanical are tiny, I have a few with one or two I might bring to the channel one day. Steady hands just comes with practice and muscle memory.
One "yes" vote for the Accurist here! I agree that it has a lovely looking movement.
Hi MIKE MY NAME IS MIKE ALSO JUST WANTED TO SAY THAT I WATCH YOUR CHANNEL ALL I CAN IM LEARNING FROM YOUR CHANNEL ALL I CAN .I WOULD LIKE TO SAY I LOVE THE MUSIC YOU PLAY IN THE BACK GROUND ITSSOUNDS A LOT LIKE WHERE IM FROM I LOVE BLUGRASS IM FROM KENTUCKY IN THE US .HAVE A GREAT DAY AND KEEP TEM COMING.
I've been enjoying some of your videos and was surprised at around 20:00 when you showed a bidfun web page with a photo I provided! Keep up the good work
Nice work 👍🥰
Thank you! Cheers!
That’s very similar movement of my father’s watch, a Beguelin, from my memory it is a FHF60. Very nice job!
Greetings from Brazil!
Nice work, Mike. This appears to be an off-the-shelf Jeambrun movement based on the layout of the train bridge and Waltham was known to use Jeambrun movements back then. (?)
I love these style of watches. I would like to have one but not easy to find and harder to find one who restore it.
Very nice
You should invest in some 'Evapo-rust" for any iron or steel parts that are corroded, it reacts with the rust softening/dissolving it and leaving the part with a protective coating on it.
Will save your cleaning solution from becoming dirty and make it last longer lol 👍
I have done one of these and try a sharp pocket knife on the bezel. Just push it in and the thickness of the knife just pushes it up gently. No chance of a screwdriver mark. These FHF movements are bulletproof and really take a cleaning well. All the ones I have worked on came out and ran well enough, and there are still standard parts pretty readily available.
You're right. They are fairly easy to work on and nice ones like that come out great!
Thanks, I should have used a knife you are right. Didnt want to bleed on camera or slip and scratch the dial..
This is my second venture into a FHF movement, the first being in my Mumbai special video. Quite impressed with the simplicity but durability. These would keep going forever if maintained correctly. Thank you for watching.
Very nice, Mike.
Many thanks!
Nice video as always! :-) the watch is also a nice one!!
Nice video really enjoyed watching 👀 it mush have a go at rebuilding a watch my self 1 day 👍
Always like your videos Mike
