    That string risk level is a perfect visualizer of what makes Chipp so strong; sure his strings have a lot of gaps in them but they go by so fast that it feels gapless.

    The big thing with Strive´s Chipp, the thing I really like, is that they made his speed EFFECTIVE. Meaning: if you are too fast, then it´s all about guessing what is coming, I feel he was a bit too fast in XRD, and that, ironically, erased his speed, it made it, to some extent, a visual thing, not 100% part of the conversation, a lot of the stuff he did you simply could not react to, and he had to be balanced around that.
    Now his speed is very great, but he is balanced around the idea that you CAN react to what he´s doing, which means they can balance him around HAVING to react to what he is doing. Basically, he has endless options, and you are going to have to be on the lookout for all of them.
    I really love the detail of making people aware of the points of risk (must have been really time-consuming to edit). Knowing when to instill fear by doing very safe things, and when to extend yourself to open them up is key for Chipp, since he´s skating the edge all the time, playing him produces this sense of "rush" from feeling super free and omnipotent but knowing death there lurking if you become predictable (or if the opponent lucks out)

    • @CharacterCrisisTV
      @CharacterCrisisTV  2 года назад +3

      Yeah I tried to not leave any room for interpretation with the sample strings. That's what the risk gauge is there. Def a annoying to animate and i def missed a few gaps in the second combo. I also mislabeled some moves. I will try to lessen the examples next time n just give like 10 good ones that give the idea

    • @CharacterCrisisTV
      @CharacterCrisisTV  2 года назад +1

      DO IT! Just keep in mind, chapter 4 is just there to give examples, ideas, etc on HOW blockstring should be approached. Chapters 2 - 3 are where the juicy parts lie IMO. Specially the RC shenanigans!

  • @blabibuu

    Would you be inclined to update videos of online matches where you use some of these tech from your videos ? I'm always impressed at the number of things you have to know and execute to put out these videos with chipp's infinite strings/combo possibilities, and I would be very pleased to see them applied in a real match (also see how you and your opponent adapt to these on defense/pressure respectively)
    Sorry if english grammar is flawed i'm trying ^^'

    • @blabibuu
      @blabibuu 2 года назад

      Also I always get thrown when I land right after a IAD j.H or j.D, is there a spacing trick ? I always see pros doing it and their opponent never throw them whereas EVERYONE instant throws after a blocked j.H / j.D in celestial

    • @CharacterCrisisTV
      @CharacterCrisisTV  2 года назад

      @@blabibuu Yeah man, this is a nono if you're too high. They recover from blockstun. But if you IAD the lowest point, your jump in JH will NEVER be thrown since it true blockstrings into close slash or kicks. Jump in with JD only if you're going to cancel it into a shuriken which is risky af or if you're going to cancel it into k alpha which is also risky if blocked.

    • @CharacterCrisisTV
      @CharacterCrisisTV  2 года назад

      I sure can. I'm actually making a chipp montage for my online play. Been collecting clips for a long time. For the smaller matches I just do memes n stuff but I can start uploading gameplay like the "Chipp has footsies" video
      I just feel some type of way uploading content that isn't edited. I think the editing is what sets me apart from other channels so not doing that feels a bit od. I say that to say that some of my gameplay clips are editing worthy IMO BUT, i will explore this more for sure.
