Love the front end, basic white exterior with red interior and the upgraded roof in both colour and optional black which is and overall outstanding convertible. The front end critics are totally wasting their time because this convertible will appeal & sell. Did I mention I have this car in my garage RIGHT NOW & absolutely love it.
Really good review and for me you nail all the points I would. I actually think the 430i (4 cylinder) with a mild tune on it might be a sweet spot in terms of value, without the sheer punch of the 440i. Completely agree on colour and trim.
Hi George, the manufacturer for the 4 Series roof is Webasto - they do roofs, heating in good quality. Good point with EV drive capacity - there are no plugin in their "Coupe" series (like 2-4-6-8) that need to change. I have seen one coming back from Italy yesterday at a gas station on the "Brennero" the Brenner pass which is famous over here - many BMW employees came back from their long italy weekend with their brand-new cars - this one was a grey/black metallic one with black roof and cognac interior, looked really good - dare I say it also the front made sense. Thanks for the great review!!!
I guess because lighting is balanced due to the open convertible but this is one of the first time’s I was able to see the road and the interior at then same time when you were driving. Usually the road is washed out and you can’t see it.
looks so beautiful.. I just bought this car in early May.. same color combo ( Ihard to tell if this is oyster inside or not).. taking mine in today for break in service! thanks for posting and discussing this car. BTW, I love the grill.. its one of the reason I bought the car. not everybody hates it.
I'm thinking to buy one m440i convertible , but I am worried about the convertible part if it will be noisy while driving ? I will be my daily use car ... please advise .. I was almost about the buy the jaguar f type v6 380 hp but then someone convinced me about this one ... please advise
People will get used to that grill, I've loved it from the start. Love the new tail lights too.. I prefered the hard top convertible... but that's ok. Getting one of these in the next year gonna make sure to add the M sport exhaust. Love this car. Also.. these are listed at 4.7 0-60, but multiple people have tested it stock and it's actually 4.2. Add a better cold air intake, the exhaust and a tune and it's down at 3.7.
Yes it does improve ‘that’ nose. Greatly at that. I’m very anti green. Dark green. Green/almost black. Any green , that’s before spearmint green. I’m in car trade.
I currently drive an M850 conv. which is, if I am not mistaken, my 7th BMW to own so I am very very familiar with BMW rediculousness (if that's even a word) when it comes to pricing.... BUT how can a wireless charger cost $500 when the HK upgrade costs $875!!! What kind of wireless charger is this?
Wow, and I thought the Lexus grill is ugly! This ranks right up there with the Ford Edsel, Pontiac Aztec and the early models of the Subaru Outback for design by a committee of blind designers.
There are a lot of points to take from this video. 1. The coupe is very overpriced. 2. This car is very heavy, approaching Dodge muscle car heavy. 3. The laziness of BMW to use the same design across their entire portfolio is just ridiculous. I suppose it works for those who just want to go from one BMW to another without having to think about it. But for those of us who want a different experience when we get into a sporty car, this doesn't cut it IMO. 4. The nose is still ugly IMO. 5. There is no excuse for this car to be under-braked considering that they already have the parts in their own parts bin. 6. I agree with you on colors. A few more colors would be great especially at this price point. A lot more choices are available on the E-Class convertible for a lot more money. Overall, this is typical BMW. This is a good car but could have been better with not a lot more effort. The company exudes a level of arrogance that is unwarranted and unearned and its products reflect that.
The only way to get the neck warmers is to get the Oyster interior. All other interiors do not offer this option. Dumb IMO. (I'm basing this on the BMW configurator)
Look up this gentleman on instagram or online. He designed this car and he has amazing sketches of these cars on his instagram. He is a true artist of car design , amazing.."Lim Seung-mo".
200kg extra on an already outrageously heavy car! The 992 and many other soft tops only have a 70kg weight penalty. BMW really don't care in the slightest about weight.
David, with all due respect, critics like yourself doesn't matter because you will never buy this car. I bought it and absolutely love it. I have received numerous positive comments with all loving the front end grill. And some of my friends are car critics. What's the old saying, "Different strokes for different folks." Have a nice day.
@@RO-cf3lz You're SO wrong. I have had 9 M3s, and currently own an M Roadster and an M2 Competition - and my wife has an X4M. You're totally within your rights to purchase this car, and BMW believes many will. That doesn't change the subjective nature of car experiences. Just as you say, "different strokes for different folks." And, I'm not a car critic. I'm a BMW loyalist and owner. I am having a lot of GREAT days. Good luck to you.
David, I'm wrong about WHAT... And what on earth what does owning 9 M3's have to do with this M440i CONVERTIBLE and its subjective evaluation? This is my 5th new BMW which only means I like BMW's or I wouldn't buy one.
I know everybody has a go at the grill but, honestly, it really IS that awful. This car is like usain bolt who's lost his teeth and a drunk dentist replaced them with chiclets gum
It’s been like that for over a decade at BMW. I don’t know why they’re worried about saving weight when the car is already 4100lbs. Just give me metal parts. What 20lbs at this point.
Love that shade of green, BMW is on a roll lately with the vibrant colors.

I really don‘t know where the opening thesis about a folding roof improving car designs comes from😅
You nailed my favorite spec... green with the camel seats. I want one.
that's white oyster, not camel...
Nice vid. Thanks. Just bought on last week. White with all the packages available. It pull very hard. Love it.
Thumbs up just for your Sanremo Green over Congac comment.
cognac interior sucks, white interior would have been better with that green
best view ive ever seen in car review test drives
Over 4,100lbs. We’re shooting ourself in the foot when it comes to efficiency. It’s a compact 2 door convertible. I wish it was 600lbs lighter.

BMW I6 will ALWAYS SO7ND BETTER than any 4, + torque makes it no comparison. 4 efficient, 6 luxurious.
What are your thoughts on this or the Z4 M40i as a second car ? Im leaning towards the Z4 . I currently driving an X5 Xdrive 40i
"Something tells me that this would be a prudent choice for NBA players". Well, that sounds like a challenge for me to investigate.
Report back with your findings.
NBA Players would buy M4 Convertible or M8 Convertible...

I remember when Webasto made aftermarket sunroofs . . .
@@MotoManTV Yes you are right that's them! they are now investing into Batteries for EV´s but they are most known by their roofs!

green and white interior is the best combo ever, but you need to spec with a reddish-brown wood trim to make a perfect contrast.

Shame they got rid of the hard top cab
I agree, but I think the three panels make it a semi-hard top.
Not sure where they’d put the batteries to any amount of range except under the seats if that not where they already put the assist set. 🤷🏼♂️
The grill though
I must say, this one is quite appealing, specially at it's price point. For my wife that is.

Awesome new grill- makes last years look super dated.
Nothing can make up for that grill. Well nothing short of replacing it.
Remind me, do these mild-hybrids still have a 12-volt battery? Or, do they only have the, give or take, 1 kWh Li-ion battery?
There is a 'back up' 12v electrical system
@@MotoManTV Interesting. Thanks so much.

Literally, it looks as if they intentionally made it ugly AF.
Your opinion doesn't matter. What matters is how much does the buyer like this or any car they own.
Interior is nice
your very polite mom made you say that right?
Why do not sell in Korea as of today? We need 440i instead of 420. So i turned to porsche.
Nice content.

Is there a metal between roof and inside cloth ? For security?
The structure of the roof is comprised of three composite panels.
imo the G22 coupe looks much, much better than the conv.
i don't care what car you review...but from now on they all must be rag tops.
that is it.
the folding roof totally doesn't fix the nose lol
“Dark blue metallic with a red top...”. Sounds like a Gentien Spyder with a red roof to me 😉
Dude 4:50 LOL
The only way to get the neck warmers is to get the Oyster interior. All other interiors do not offer this option. Dumb IMO. (I'm basing this on the BMW configurator)
My 21 Vert has a neck warmer with red interior w white exterior.
Well Bred Hybrid
Folding metal roofs do, cloth downgrades are still downgrades

The nose is bad enough, but worse than the nose is the instrument layout. Speedo and Tach increasing towards each other? That's needlessly stupid.
Can't say I disagree with anything here.
Um, no it does not. While the “folding roof” is desired by many, the overall design is a mess.
Have you seen it in the metal?

That front end is gross
Just take a 2series convertible… that nose is terrible
can't you just drive the car & tell us how great a topless cruiser it is...because that's what it is. Always this comparison BS from YT auto neophytes
