    That 3129 and that takeoff though @ 0:25. Priceless. A true soul sound of Philadelphia.

    Joe, I think this was one of the best videos you put up. Gulph Mills was lit back in the 96. Man, 8411-8434 group on the 95, 8851-8875 appeared just about anywhere between the three routes, 3117-3137, 3237-3251 were the norm on the 124/125 for the longest, and it was a good day whenever 3450-3479 showed up. I'm not sure if 3357-3371 showed up on the 124/125 like that. I don't think the NABI buses started running on the 95 until around 2000, and by that point, the 95 was just a shadow of itself. 8562-8584 and whatever was left of the RTS buses seldom showed up on the 124/125 but were probably standard when the 45 still ran to King Of Prussia.

    Considering that this was filmed in November 1996, I'm wondering if SEPTA'S Frontier Division had just retired their 8411-8434 group, because until then, the 8411-8434 group was still nearly standard on the 95, because of it's close proximity to SEPTA'S Frontier Division and it not being a long route. At that time the 95 was a 40 to 45 minute run between Plymouth Meeting Mall and King Of Prussia. If you could catch the green lights coming out of King Of Prussia and if you didn't get held up in Conshohocken, you could shave off 10 minutes. That might have been an 8400 in the background at the 7:14 mark. 4:31, God I miss that sound. I spy a Neoplan @ 7:12

      The NABI's did kill off 8411-8434 for Frontier, yes. On the day this video was shot, deliveries were only up to the 514x mark, so only Callowhill and Comly had their first batches, and Victory and Frontier randomly split a group of 20 (10 each, but not in any sequential order). Both depots split Routes 124 and 125 at the time.

    Why didn't they come straight down Trinity Lane instead of taking the long way via Gulph Rd?

    • @trainman1971
      @trainman1971  4 года назад

      The bridge over the P&W tracks off Trinity Lane was demolished for replacement with the current structure (note construction in the background at the 3:30 mark and the Jersey barriers along S. Gulph Road at the end of the last scene of the video).

      3460 may have had them because I remember the one time I saw 3460, on the 95, May 1996, and the engine cover had these round tailights, turn signals and backup lights. I'm not sure if 3460 was overhauled at that time but seeing a 3400 suburban on the 95 was rare, but not frowned upon.

But as for NJT, aside from limited rail ops and the Philly buses, I did not cover them in depth until a 2014 video, in which by the time it was over, every single NJT bus route except for 30 scattered 100-series routes had appeared at least once. Check my channel for samples from that video... it would be any NJT-themed video posted between April and July of 2014.
