I think the amount of people now a hard no is increasing. With good reason. Albanese and Labor have been dishonest about this from the start. It IS about treaty, truth-telling and reparations. As many of the proponents of the yes group, (Reid, Mayo, Davis to name some), have said in the past. For that attempt to deceive Australians about the true nature of the voice, it does not deserve to succeed. I certainly hope it does not. I have no desire to become a second class citizen. And be placed in permanent debt to a small minority of the nation.

Bit of misinformation on your part. The request for The Voice came from the First Nations Constitutional Convention at a Uluṟu in 2017. This was the result of a national consultation process with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people which had been known as the Regional Dialogues. So it had nothing to do with Albo. He wasn’t even an opposition leader back then. It is not a Labor concept, it is not a Coalition concept. It doesn’t come from Canberra. The request for the First Nations voice comes directly from the Uluru Statement From the Heart which was first issued on the 26th of May 2017.

The generational attack, offensive, assault on muti-cultural Australia has left us divided, and embarrassed of Australia’s wonderful past. All to serve the self seeking, selfish interests of a very small militant, embittered and clearly corrupt organisation. The goal of separatism seems to be this small ‘elite’ group within an equally small group's agenda. This small ‘elite’ group has garnered a great deal of power, and influence thanks to some very clever, and less than honest use of every available manipulation available to them, especially the weaponization of race.
Our nation's genuine history has been entirely subverted throughout the last two decades with: ‘truth’ telling that there is now virtually only one Australian hero, the innocent, entirely virtuous Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander’s who were wronged by ‘white men throughout their innocent, and entirely virtuous histories.
The Voice is not a path to reconciliation, and harmony it is a path to entrench structural racism within our nation's constitution. Something that should be abhorrent to all Australians but particularly so to Indigenous Aboriginal, and Torres Strait Islander’s.
Only the left are allowed (permitted) to have emotions, and feelings. And we can see conspicuously when examining the phenomenon of Welcome, and Acknowledgement ‘ceremonies’ represent. The meaningless collective embrace of this disrespect and the fact that it is now everywhere, high and low covering all Australian activities and endeavours.
Compelling Acknowledgement of Country and Welcome to Country into meetings, gatherings, schools, and events while apparently displaying respect to those descends of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage 2.5% of the Australian population.
Is entirely self-centred, narrow-minded, bigoted, insensitive, insulting, and represents a clear provocation that Australian’s not of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage are not Australian’s, And if they are given ‘permission’ to be Australian, that they are not as linked to their country, or that they require permission, it’s a disgrace, it's a narrow minded put-down, and an inequality, a bias extended to 97.5% of the Australian population. It's culturally insensitive, and clearly discriminatory, one-sided, bigoted, and racist. How has it gone so far so fast? By weaponizing race, by manipulating the Australians' publics better natures against them. And this has been the successful strategy of the bulk of the lefts racist, discriminatory, one-sided, bigoted policies.
Aside from the self-centeredness, and self-absorption, Acknowledgement of Country and Welcome to Country are highly similar, comparable to forced religious compliance.
Not to mention these ceremonies are entirely works of fiction, and the meaningless collective embrace of this disrespect and the fact that it is now everywhere, high and low covering all Australian activities and endeavours epitomises the cultural vacuum that clearly exist in those arrogantly, intrusively, and immorally pushing this hollow vainglorious agenda.
Acknowledgement of Country and Welcome to Country are fabricated, fictitious, and counterfeit ceremonies (Welcome to Country was created by Ernie Dingo in 1976 as a response to the Māori Hakka.) They are not representative of authentic Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and heritage, and are contrived, concocted, artificial and hollow, highly symbolic of much of mainstream Australia’s compulsive coordinated virtue signalling.
The individual capabilities and needs of human beings have little correlation with their race, and racial heritage. But are far more and consequently a product of capable, effective, education, training, and a cohesive, healthy, nourishing, family and community.
This race, culture, history, ‘flock’ narrative is resoundingly racist, bigoted, narrow-minded, and prejudiced, not to mention very backward. Race, culture, history has become the accepted belief, and is the emphatically twisted opinion of a demented, unbalanced, fanatical group who are themselves profoundly racist.
The echo chamber that has created ‘The Voice’ in its current form needs to take a long hard look at themselves; and their shameful, unjust, and discriminatory doctrine of critical race theory.
And instead of pronouncing: racism, discrimination, unfairness, and bigotry upon any Australians who stand against ‘The Voice’ in its current form. They should examine the structural racism they intend to widen and inflate with the same furious incrimination.
The Voice is not a path to reconciliation, and harmony it is a path to entrench structural racism within our nation's constitution. Something that should be abhorrent to all Australians but particularly so to Indigenous Aboriginal, and Torres Strait Islander’s.
    Voice, Treaty, Truth
Voice=transferring to a minority, while taking from the majority.
Treaty=transferring to a minority, while taking from the majority.
Truth=transferring to a minority, while taking from the majority.
Australia: "We won't bow down, and legislate based on morals from some silly ancient book about an invisible sky man."
Also Australia: "All hail the rainbow serpent and his sacred land!!!"
    ❌❌❌End 'Welcome' to Country.❌❌❌
✅✅✅Start Acknowledging that you’re Australians, just like the rest of us.✅✅✅
Indeed this proposal is completely self-centred, prejudiced and incredibly vainglorious, real positive change is not being implemented. So a small corrupt group can gain greater power.❤🇦🇺🦘

The Voice is part of a six stage strategy, the Voice itself is stage 5 and stage 6 is Makarrata. The aims are clearly stated "A TREATY could include a proper say in decision making, the establishment of a TRUTH commission, REPARATIONS, a financial settlement (such as seeking a PERCENTAGE OF GDP), the resolution of land, water and resources issues, RECOGNITION OF AUTHORITY and CUSTOMARY LAW" (from page 19 of a 26 page document released under FOI (FOI/2223/016) from the National Indigenous Australian Agency, page 1 is titled Uluru statement from the heart [centre justified]) "Makarrata is the culmination of our agenda" from the Uluru Statement from the Heart (page 1).
So its very clear not only is the Voice a planned assault on democratic principles, not only does it introduce race/cultural identity into the constitution, its part of an agenda that the Prime Minister himself promotes VOICE - TREATY - TRUTH. He even has the T - shirt.
The National Indigenous Australian Agency (under Linda Burney) has had executive authority to close the gap since 2019. (e) specify the functions of the National Indigenous Australians Agency be as follows: iii. to lead and coordinate the development and implementation of Australia’s Closing the Gap targets in partnership with Indigenous Australians; (Federal register of legislation, C2019G00474).
I note, life expectancy for Indigenous men increased from 56.6 years in 1999 to 65.6 years in 2018 (change, 9.0 years; 95% CI, 7.9-10.0 years) and from 64.8 to 69.7 years for Indigenous women (4.9 years; 95% CI, 3.2-6.7 years); Med J Aust 2022; 217 (1): 30-35. || doi: 10.5694/mja2.51553
Moreover the three clauses to be inserted into section 129 of the constitution do not include the words advice, advisory or advise: - i There shall be a body, to be called the Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander Voice. - ii The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice may make representations to Parliament and the Executive Government on matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. - iii The Parliament shall, subject to this Constitution, have power to make laws with respect to the composition, functions, powers and procedures of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice (AEC).
Clearly unique access based on race/cultural identity to all levels of government. Vote NO "it is a ruthless con job" (Greg Craven, The Australian).

It should be clearly understood that, unlike all the other power-brokers who have formalised positions within our Constitution - the Members of Parliament, Senators, the High Court judges, the Governor-General, the military and civil servants, who are all elected or appointed for set terms and can be removed by being voted out, sacked or retired, with no expectation that they can pass their position onto a family member or descendant - the Voice members will be different. They will be ‘chosen’ [that is, appointed; free elections for the Group of 24 are not proposed] based on regional and family (tribal) connections. This will allow powerful Aboriginal families and clans to dominate the membership process and ensure that only their family members are `chosen’.

Let me add some clarity around the voice issue. There have been hundreds of indigenous and government bodies managing the disadvantaged indigenous people in remote communities (about 20% of the indigenous population). Every Australia is interested in closing the gap and ensuring the remote indigenous people have the same opportunities and life quality as the rest of the population.
THE REALITY IS that after having spent billions of dollars over the past 20 years practically nothing has been achieved in terms of disadvantage of children, alcoholism and crime despite the 'so called' efforts by the respective state and federal governments.
The problem has been that money was spent, there may have been good intentions but the reality is that practically nothing has been achieve because the actions taken lacked the will to succeed, accountability and the relentless pursuit of producing tangible outcomes.
For this reason, there is no point in suggesting that a new chapter in the constitution is now somehow magically going to solve the problem when in fact the root cause is the effectiveness of accountable action at the local level.
Summarising, the YES/NO vote is not a matter of more clarity but rather it is necessary to determine why all the money spent and the action taken so far has not been effective in closing the gap. My vote is NO until this issue is resolved and the question has been answered how this new chapter in the constriction is going to solve anything except divide Australians on identity.

I remember they said but I want to forget: History they don't want to talk about: This will need your own research to prove the merit of the following:
The first Parliament. The first federal elections for the new Australian Parliament were held on 29 and 30 March 1901. The first Governor-General of Australia, Lord Hopetoun, proclaimed the Commonwealth of Australia at a special ceremony in Centennial Park, Sydney, 1 January 1901.
National Library all Australia was under thick and smelly mud and even today, the mangroves around our coast and near our waters and oceans shows evidence of a recent continent flood.
    NOTE the DATES:
The 17th century was the century from 1601 to 1700.
The 18th century was the century from 1st Jan, 1701 to 31st Dec, 1800
The 19th century was the century from 1st Jan, 1801 to 31st Dec, 1900
PLAGUES note DATES: It happened within the centuries-long Second Pandemic, a period of intermittent bubonic plague epidemics that originated in Central Asia in 1331, and included related diseases such as pneumonic plague and septicemic plague, which lasted until 1750. -The First Fleet of 11 ships, each one no larger than a Manly ferry, left Portsmouth in 1787.
FRANCE: a period of intermittent bubonic plague epidemics that originated in Central Asia in 1331: The Black Death was present in France between 1347 and 1352. The bubonic plague pandemic, known as the Black Death, reached France by ship from Italy to Marseille in November 1347, spread first through Southern France, and then continued outwards to Northern France. Due to the size of the Kingdom of France, the pandemic lasted for several years, :Bubonic plague hit France in 1720.
Second Pandemic, a period of intermittent bubonic plague epidemics that originated in Central Asia in 1331,now spread to England: The Great Plague of London, lasting from 1665 to 1666, was the last major epidemic of the bubonic plague to occur in England., which lasted until 1750.
These many ships floating on the ocean that held some adults but many children who were saved from the plagues and as you see were on "The First Fleet of 11 ships- there was no invasion.
Conclusion: There was no invasion but immigrants looking for a new place to start a new life.
Several plagues that hit the whole earth 1331 to 1750-
he 18th century was the century from 1st Jan, 1701 to 31st Dec, 1800:
Who was the monarch when the First Fleet of 11 ships, left Portsmouth in 1787 and arrived in Australia 1788?
└── George III (1760-1820): not Queen Elizabeth 2.
"The First Fleet of 11 ships, each one no larger than a Manly ferry, left Portsmouth in 1787 with more than 1480 men, women and children onboard. Although most were British, there were also African, American and French immigrants. After a voyage of three months the First Fleet landed on the islands of CoCo island, Christmas island, Norfolk island and when it started to be overcrowded they came to the mainland and arrived at Botany Bay on 24 January 1788. This was the first European settlement in Botany Bay and Sydney"
Just immigrants looking for a new place to live as we do today. There was no invasion in 1788.
Question: if they all came from Britain, why do we have not only British, but African, French, and American immigrants?
Conclusion: There was no invasion but immigrants looking for a new place to start a new life.
A Day of Remembrance- an Australian Day that our great great grandparents saved their children our grandparents and parents that we are here today:
On this sacred Our Australia Day, we gather to remember the profound sacrifices made by our ancestors-of all nations from the British, African, American, and French immigrants who, against all odds, found solace and opportunity on this vast land. Together, we stand as a united tapestry of humanity, bound by respect, honor, and immense gratitude for the privilege of being here today. We stand resolute against those who seek to tear down our cherished homeland, driven by their malevolent ideologies.
In unison, we rise to uphold the legacies of those who laid down their lives, their valor echoing through the annals of time. We rally together, steadfastly refusing to let anyone trample upon the hallowed ground that holds the memories of our ancestors, both here in Australia and across the oceans in Britain, France, Europe, and America. We unite to combat the tyranny that threatens to dismantle our nation and erase their courageous deeds from history.
Australia Day, to us, signifies pride-a collective pride that transcends generations. It is a day when we share the stories of our forebears with our children and grandchildren, ensuring that the flame of remembrance burns brightly within our lineage. We stand as a formidable barrier against those who would desecrate these sacred memories, shielding them from the hands of profanity.
May evil never befall our great nation, and may our dwelling be forever shielded from plague and harm. Let those who harbor malicious intentions toward us be consumed by their own malevolence, while we remain untouched. Even as we traverse the darkest valleys of adversity, we shall fear no evil, for our unity fortifies us.
We will not allow anyone to besmirch our nation or betray the memories of those who came before us. Let it be known that we, proud Australians, stand tall and resolute. May our unwavering patriotism serve as a beacon of hope for future generations, guiding them to cherish and uphold the noble values that define our great land.
This is Australia Day for 2024.

    My reasons to vote No
    1. Govt is elected to represent its people. If our govt cant hear us, we need new govt. NOT A NEW VOICE.
    2. Once the constitution is changed then the govt and the advisory board can make treaties that will have consequences for common man, even though we will have no say in it whatsoever. We will have to bear the brunt of it. And if we dont agree, we could be breaking the law.
    3. The uluru statement mentions percentages of Gross domestic product.
    4. Asking for 7th state (cited in uluru statement from the heart)
    5. Having a separate law for indigenous Australians and resulting in separate law for 'other Australians '
    6. The government and its operations can be held at ransom with no accountability for the voice.
    7. The whole concept is too vague and in wrong hands can do more damage than good.
    8. I personally would like to see things that unite us.
    9. To practice ones culture one does not need to infiltrate the government. Look at India all 28 states have different cultures yet the governments and central govt represents all. They represent their constituents, not their race.
    10. If there is a voice to parliament , then there is not much point of democracy at all. Why do we vote? Why do we elect people? If those people actually cant do their jobs, without consulting a third party that is clearly biased.
    11. The reasons to vote yes are emotionally charged and almost guilt tripping you into thinking that anything other than a yes is cruel. That is not a rational approach.

We weren't the first nation and in actual fact, we weren't a nation. This will need your own research to prove the merit of the following:
    Colonization
    Prehistory
It is generally held that Australian Aboriginal peoples originally came from Asia via insular Southeast Asia (now Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, East Timor, Indonesia, and the Philippines.)
African Australians refers to Australians who were born on the African continent and migrated to Australia, or who have or had an immediate ancestor who made such a migration. Large-scale immigration from Africa to Australia is only 'a recent phenomenon', with Europe and Asia traditionally being the largest sources of migration to Australia.
Australia was colonised by two separate genetic lineages of modern humans. One lineage was believed to have been the evolutionary descendants of Indonesian Homo erectus while the other lineage had evolved from Chinese Homo erectus. Modern Aboriginal people are the result of the assimilation of these two genetic lineages.
The term colonization is derived from the Latin words colere ("to cultivate, to till"), colonia ("a landed estate", "a farm") and colonus ("a tiller of the soil", "a farmer"), then by extension "to inhabit".
COLONY Meaning: "ancient Roman settlement outside Italy," from Latin colonia "settled land, farm, landed estate,"
They were men, women, and children - immigrants who came to this island to start a new life just as we do today. There was no invasion.
The term of Race: The concept of race as a categorization of anatomically modern humans has an extensive history in Europe and the Americas. The contemporary word race itself is modern; historically it was used in the sense of "nation, ethnic group" during the 16th to 19th centuries.
National Library: Gateways into a new continent
There has always been an ocean separating Asia and Australia. At times this distance was reduced but the earliest travellers still had to navigate across large stretches of water.
For much of its history Australia was joined to New Guinea, forming a landmass called Sahul. These countries were finally separated by rising sea levels : Changing sea levels have significantly affected the geography of South-east Asia and Australia and the migration patterns of prehistoric peoples. During times of low sea levels the travelling distance between Timor and Sahul would have been reduced to about 90 kilometres.
Pre-flood: Modern humans had reached Asia before moving down through South-east Asia and into Australia. However, Homo sapiens were not the first people to inhabit this region. Homo erectus had already been in Asia . It is possible that these two species may have coexisted, as some dates for Indonesian Homo erectus suggest they may have survived there until as recently Homo erectus remains have never been found in Australia.
A second species, the Denisovans, was also know to inhabit this region and evidence shows they interbred with modern humans (Homo sapiens). Melanesians and Aboriginal Australians carry about 3-5 % of Denisovan DNA. This is explained by interbreeding of eastern Eurasian Denisovans with the modern human ancestors of these populations as they migrated towards Australia and Papua New Guinea.
The original inhabitants travelled across the southern hemisphere as far South America building their civilisation as they moved about. After the flood (which I will place in next comment) and for years water was over these islands and there was no habitation- When the waters subsided and the gateways opened new travellers from Asia made heir way to the southland( which we call Australia today).
Many from different continents and Nationalities, travelled from Asia and from the east side of Australia, seafarers came with other immigrants. Why did they? a history they don't want you to remember or know and the 21st century have no idea. Only what we are told but our great 3 times past knew about what I am to relay to you in the next comment: This also gives you a different perspective of history and why there were different nationalities...
(Next comment: tribal wars and death- so we had to leave....

It is not simply about recognition. Moreover, there is a Minister for Indigenous Australians in place to deal with issues that pertain to Aboriginal Australians. This is not a game, this is the Constitution of Australia - the most important document in the land, the document that sits above the High Court, Parliament and Executive Government. If you don't understand why read the short summary below. (1) There are two elements to the Voice (a) Recognition and (b) the Voice itself.
    (2) The Voice itself is made of three clauses:-
i There shall be a body, to be called the Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander Voice
ii The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice may make representations to Parliament and the Executive Government on matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
iii The Parliament shall, subject to this Constitution, have power to make laws with respect to the composition, functions, powers and procedures of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice.
Now let’s look at the wording of the second clause
“MAKE REPRESENTATIONS” this will be two way, from government to the Voice and from the Voice to government, this includes advocacy and influence and is not simply an “advisory” function.
    “TO PARLIAMENT AND EXECUTIVE GOVERNMENT”
This is very expansive e.g. Voice representations may be made to both Parliament which includes legislators and politicians plus Executive Government which means government departments, public servants and Ministers. Absolutely implicit in this is, the Voice is not just limited to advocacy for or against laws but can also advocate and influence government policy, programs and decisions.
“ON MATTERS RELATING TO ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER PEOPLES”
The absence of words like, “ONLY relating to” or “SPECIFICALLY relating” is clear, it means the intent of the Voice is broad and could influence or advocate for anything that relates to the broader population as aboriginal australians make up part of the broader population.
Clearly, the clause makes no link to the race power outlined in section 51xxvi of the constitution - in other words the Voice is not limited to involvement in laws made under that subsection.
To put it simply there are very few limitations on what the Voice can and cannot advocate for and it can be involved in all elements of government from Parliament through to Executive branch functions, in other words public servants, dept. heads, Ministers etc.
To be absolutely clear the Voice is broadly consistent with a document known as the Langton Calma Report which clearly:-
    (1) Recommends the inclusion of executive government
    (2) Wants unrestricted scope
    (3) Absolutely rejects any limitations
    (4) Rejects any limitations made under the race power provisions under S51(xxvi) of the constitution.
    (5) Government depts. will need to identify Voice “triggers”
    (6) In the absence of constraints under clause (ii) the Voice can be involved in most aspects of government and will extend reach into implementation and administration of laws.
    (7) There is significant scope for the Voice to challenge government actions under administrative law
Does the Voice give a different level of access to Parliament and Executive government - to put it simply yes, how?
    (1) Voting at Federal elections
    (2) Representations made by the Voice between elections - not available to most Australians
Other recommendations include a Voice Parliamentary committee with the ability to Table its advice in Parliament.
To put it simply there are very few limitations on what the Voice can and cannot advocate for and it can be involved in all elements of government from Parliament through to Executive branch functions, in other words public servants, dept. heads, Ministers etc.
This is both dangerous and far reaching. Very surprised a government would put this forward, its not in the best interest of all Australians and has the power to do great harm. In my view its a naked power grab dressed up as a Trojan Horse.
I note that Greg Craven when asked for an opinion he replied “I think it’s fatally flawed what it does is retain the full range of review of executive action. This means the the Voice can comment on everything from submarines to parking tickets…We will have regular judicial interventions” (Danyal Hussain, Daily Mail, 24 March 2023).
Not only that, Greg Craven got caught on record multiple times - "fatally flawed" (see above) "colonised by left leaning ideologues" (2GB), "it is a ruthless con job" (The Australian) etc perhaps the most cynical is Twomey, who when asked about showing legislation to voters said this as a key point, "would confuse voters and limit flexibility" (ABC).
There are several things that sadden me about this (1) that an Australian Government would propose something that is not in the best interest of all Australians - this shows they are either naive or craven (2) they have largely been dishonest by lying by omission in regard to detail and when reality is pointed out - they run for cover (3) some ALP/hard left leaning legal scholars have backed it knowing it is "fatally" flawed - they're not naive so they must be knaves (4) many elders and their viewpoints have been ignored and some rightly concluded it would be damaging "that canvas is a trouble maker"

@@rossrose1534 Its the wrong thing to do in an egalitarian multicultural democracy. Why? because its not simply about recognition its part of an agenda which the National Indigenous Australian Agency has described. The Voice is part of a six stage strategy, the Voice itself is stage 5 and stage 6 is Makarrata. The aims are clearly stated "A TREATY could include a proper say in decision making, the establishment of a TRUTH commission, REPARATIONS, a financial settlement (such as seeking a PERCENTAGE OF GDP), the resolution of land, water and resources issues, RECOGNITION OF AUTHORITY and CUSTOMARY LAW" (from page 19 of a 26 page document released under FOI from the National Indigenous Australian Agency, page 1 is titled Uluru statement from the heart [centre justified]) "Makarrata is the culmination of our agenda" from the Uluru Statement from the Heart (page 1). So its very clear not only is the Voice an assault on democratic principles, not only does it introduce race/cultural identity into the constitution, its part of an agenda that the Prime Minister himself promotes VOICE - TREATY - TRUTH. He even has the T - shirt. I suggest you read the information that is available and make an informed choice.

Its ok that there are many reasons to vote yes, I argue that having more reasons gives a clear & definitive argument to vote ‘yes’ giving clear clarity! Its just how you look at it. Lets go ahead with saying ‘yes we want the best for all Australians’ we want it for this one special group of indigenous people here who are not meeting the bench marks the rest of us are meeting with living standards. We are saying ‘yes’ to move forward to improve living standards for people who to date are missing out. We are saying ‘yes’ to hearing concerns from indigenous members of the Australian society that are not supported fairly & justly. We are not letting fear about what ‘could possibly eventuate negatively in the future’ occur because we are all part of the future & we won’t let negativity take hold because we are all listening if we have a ‘voice’ to listen to. Fear says no, yes says possibilities for improvement.
Sky News you have a lot to answer for with your support of the ‘no’ vote!
