Got a lot of love for Afeni but she conveniently doesn't tell the whole story. She leaves things out on purpose. She told PAC that Billy WAS DEAD. hence the line " he passed away and I didn't cry- cuz my anger couldn't let me feel for a stranger " she didn't want billy in his life. And she also makes it seem like he only showed up twice and only wanted money. He went to visit PAC in jail, he was around PAC when he was 5 - and he's not the bad person she's making him out to be. Did he make mistakes? Absolutely. But afeni is partially to blame and idk why she is lying like that. Rest her soul though.
John Hajduk I read the same thing and Billy was trying to come around. It was hard for him as well because she was addicted to crack. I know a man that was in prison and he wrote a bunch of letters to his child and the mom threw the letters away. When a child got older he went to go see his father and that child asked why he didn't keep in touch and he said he tried to and he showed the child the copies of the letters that you written for years! So it's not unheard of but what you said was on point and yes rest in peace to her soul.
Yea. I'm starting to see that Afenis full of it when it comes to Pacs father. She did everything to keep him away for her own personal reasons. And never thought about how it affected Pac.
Maybe she thought it wasn't for him to come around Pac, but no matter what a father should never be kept from his children if he wants to be a part of it. Billy might also be lying about his wish to get closer to Tupac.
Tupac knew Billy was alive all along, those were just lyrics not all his lyrics were about himself, some were symbolic or metaphoric to get a message across. Billy had a choice, and he made it. No one can keep a man out his child's life, if he wants to be in it.
I can’t care about any of those claims or sentiments when 2pac didn’t find out about Billy until 1994. Hiding the truth is lying! My mother did the same bs by telling me my dad was dead. I was twelve when that man called our home. I answered the phone. I never really confronted my mother about her lie because at the end of the day she was/is a really good mother. But, that lie was foul and every woman who deny their child that knowledge need to understand they are being foul!

Imma need you to open a book and take you anti black women bs somewhere else. Just loud and wrong
yea Afeni is right...Billy Garland wasn't apart of Tupac's life growing up. but what afeni neglects to mention is the reason. billy garland was in Tupac's life up until he was five. then afeni "chose" to just leave without telling billy garland anything at all. was that billy garlands fault?? NO. ...that was afeni's fault!!
Will Garland there's absolutely NO EXCUSE for a father not to be there for his children unless the law prevented him to do so which was not the case here. He could've taken Afeni to court to get partial custody or at least visitation rights. But unfortunetly some men don't love their children enough to go through all that trouble.
She fled with her son and never intended on billy garland to be in his life for whatever reason. Too many black women keep their sons from their dad. I do not respect her for this. Billy Garland is a wonderful father to his other kids he raised and he too has a story.

Spoken like a woman who has never been a father!! A female creates the circumstances in which her child comes into the world. She can decide to birth the child or legally abort it. A man doesn't have that option legally. Even though females are told and taught marry before you carry, it's all a man's fault when they don't listen. All due respects to the late PAC and Afeni Sip. But you moved all over the country” and kept the man away from his son. You had the opportunity to take him up with an argument when the man was in the emergency room with your son. But you to held secrets. I know that feeling because i to have experienced it with my own son.
Well, if Kadafi is Pac's half-brother, take a wild guess who Kadafi's real father is LOL Now look at the timeline. Billy left around the time Yaasmyn (Kadafi's mom and Afeni's close friend back then) got pregnant. Not hard to guess why he left or should I say had to leave?!?
That's my story too. The mother of beautiful daughter kept my daughter from me. She Kept moving around the country in an effort to keep me away from my daughter. Still trying to fsther my daughter. She's 9 years old in the next 7 days. Pac is my hero, I luv him to death... I also luv Senior dearly, but there's 2 sides to every story. She moved all over America befure Pac was 18 and she was on crack. There were no cell phones then. How could his father have kept up with the constant moving around... I wish one day he also tells his side of the story.
@@weworldwide1348 YAKI is not PAC’s half brother. They grew up together, bc Afeni and Yaki’s mom were friends since the Panthers days, hence the “brothers”
Why? Do we really need to see a 20-something-year-old be allowed to beat a case, turn to the streets, become a hardcore unemployable, and then turn to crack while she traverses the country with two children? All they will do is blame black men for her mistakes. No, SHE made those mistakes. She probably kept her kids to keep a check and some Section 8 voucher.
She may have been angry, bitter or just wanted better for her son. Perhaps Mr. Garland was the person that introduced Mrs. Afeni to drugs who knows but whatever the reason my heart tells me it was to protect her son even if it wasn’t the ideal situation. It’s easy to judge from a distance. I think Afeni did all she could and raised a revolutionary King that’ll live on forever. RIP Afeni and PAC forever eternal ❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🏾
Billy Garland didn't introduce Afeni to drugs. It must be the other man Legs from New York. The man that Afeni told Pac was his father. Pac said he was a drug dealer and he also died from drug overdose.
Legs introduced her to drugs. He's the guy she got with following the Panther 21 Trial. Some even think he was an undercover agent sent to get her on drugs.Legs supposedly ended up dying from a heart attack in prison.
To be honest, I'm dissapointed in Afeni... Tupac believed his father was dead his whole life and his father didn't know where he was until he got famous because afeni was on drugs and moving Pac around. She still trying to stick the knife in slow. Another of mother's feel they have all the control but it was really up to 2pac, not her to decide.
Much respect to Afeni & may she continue to rest in peace, but its disappointing to see this bitter side of her cause she was such a powerful women. She's made it seem like Billy was a deadbeat father to Pac, but failed to mention she constantly moved across the world, purposely keeping him from Tupac. Its foul how she made the world see him in that light when shes the reason Pac didn't know his father until he was a grown man. Tbh, she created that void in Pac. When you think about it, she kinda contradicts & goes against what her movement of being a fighting Black Panther is, by painting a BLACK MAN in such a negative light. Again, may she rest in peace, but this is foul.
LIES!!! She moved her children around to have a better life: she did the best she could on her own. Billy had a choice: no one can keep you from your child if you want to be there, Tupac knew his donor was alive all the time.

Lol she did. He didn't want to stop dealing drugs and staying out of trouble. With her being a panther she could not take that risk with her and her son's life especially since she already lost her life during the "Panther 21 trial" tf
I'm trying no to respect for her after finding out she lied to 2Pac about his father, no women should have the right to deny who's the father of their children is, particularly if is a boy. Women cannot teach boys how to become man. Whatever the reason was, cheating, beating her up, w/e she had no right to do so unless Billy was the one who run away from his kid, we would never know, but I believe there's an incredible number of man that went through this because of all of those "feminist" movements from the 60s teaching women don't need a man in their lives so I'm not surprise if Afeni called on that b.s. too.
There's always two sides to a story, and somewhere in the middle lies the truth. So far, all we've known is the story that the media has told for years on end. We also know what all of these artists, entourage, and WOMEN had said about him. We all have accounts of him by all of these people, except his own father. So far, everyone in here has been fighting over whether or not Billy Garland was a deadbeat father and an opportunist, while others are arguing that he's a victim of wholesale paternity fraud. With that being said, it's interesting that the chapter that Afeni feels is her favorite, questions Billy Garland's presence, character, and motives, with the author being someone with whom Tupac allegedly had a sexual relationship with, so, of course, this is going to appear biased. The bottom line is that Afeni conceived Tupac while she was still married to a man who was locked up. By her own admission, she was seeing two guys after being released from lockup (Legs Saunders and Billy Garland), and she chose to be with the guy who most likely supported her lifestyle (Legs). With Billy being the father, this puts a monkey wrench in what she's doing, because he ain't hardly a street dude. Furthermore, Afeni Shakur's life has been very well documented, all the way into her teenage years. She's a wealth of knowledge, free-spirit, black power, and street wisdom. Trust me, if you look long enough, you will find interviews going all the way back to the late 60s documenting her thoughts and feelings about things going on in her life, including the time she was freed from incarceration, and you will see that I'm not making ANY of this up. God rest her soul, because she worked very hard to keep Tupac and Billy Garland apart for so many years.
This is so sad tu pac may not have been perfect nobody is perfect but I feel sad thinking about tu pac sometimes in so many ways he try to please the people around him but they gave him a raw deal which push him over the edge and not think straight.
RIP to Afeni but I understand that women always play the victim and I'm sure there's more to it than just that. She kept moving away city to city to keep 2Pac away from the father. That's what I got out of it.

There's two sides to a story. Tupac said in his interview with MTV interview at Venice beach that at the time she has had him his mom was sleeping with guys but never really getting into a relationship with them and that she was living her life. By his own words Tupac basically said that his mom was being wreckless & irresponsible with her womb. Wan do that all the time. When theirs a break up most woman take the child away from the father and use the child as a weapon against them. This is a 1 sided story with her not admitting the mistakes that she made the put Tupac into that situation where he was kept away from his father.
You are talking about Afeni in the 80s, during the time she got hooked to drugs, when she couldn't find a job to raise her children properly cause no one wanted to hire her once they found out who she was, Billy was a drug dealer who wouldn't stop dealing drugs and with her profile as a panther and already being under their radar she couldn't take that risk, Tupac also said in an interview when he was 17 that he only seen his father a few times and he jokingly stated how he had no idea why or how his mother and father got together since they were the complete polar opposite. Tupac may have not been around his bio father but he did have a powerful father figure who is also his little brothers father and brother of assata Shakur. I think y'all tend to forget who Afeni is. He said he felt abandoned as a child because she was more concerned with fighting for our black community than spending time with him and his siblings. When a child got older he went to go see his father and that child asked why he didn't keep in touch and he said he tried to and he showed the child the copies of the letters that you written for years! So it's not unheard of but what you said was on point and yes rest in peace to her soul.
most of our mothers tell half the story and always the victim .

Tupac was 23 in 1994 ? Someone said he was 20 in that 1994 interview with Tanya Hart, unless that interview was done in 1991.

Wan do that all the time. When theirs a break up most woman take the child away from the father and use the child as a weapon against them. This is a 1 sided story with her not admitting the mistakes that she made the put Tupac into that situation where he was kept away from his father.
Man I agree w you..well said
You are talking about Afeni in the 80s, during the time she got hooked to drugs, when she couldn't find a job to raise her children properly cause no one wanted to hire her once they found out who she was, Billy was a drug dealer who wouldn't stop dealing drugs and with her profile as a panther and already being under their radar she couldn't take that risk, Tupac also said in an interview when he was 17 that he only seen his father a few times and he jokingly stated how he had no idea why or how his mother and father got together since they were the complete polar opposite. Do your research. Mutulu Jamal Daruba Geronimo it took a village of revolutionary souljas to raise tupac. All of thse men knew Tupac s real father from the relvolution of black liberaton movement. Billy garland was not resistor.
Its not billy his fault he was in jail and Afeni on crack I dont know how long he was in jail but its afeni her fault too. She moved alot to different states. Dont become a feminist and believe the women stories always. Dont buy this book.
She did not tell tu pac about Billy garland when Billy went to the hospital to see tu pac pac did not know who he was.
Pac had her dimples.
He he didn't try to lay claim on half of 2pac estate I might of be inclined to believe it wasn't all his doings why he never had a relationship with his son until 2pac found fame. Yes there are some bitter nasty minded mothers out there that will stop access out of pure spite. So if he is infact telling the truth that it was Afeni where his proof at cus if a father wants to be in their child's life and has been prevented they will have some kind of proof of it. So I'm on Afeni side as this dude has shown his all about 2pac legacy and his money.
She's just trying to be a real mother after he died. Terrible
