The best thing the pandemic has brought to ppl is WFH.

Hybrid work is convenient for many of us; it is not as tiring as going to office everyday also not boring like completely work from home

Can someone please explain to me why employers are insisting that they come to the office..?

For companies that own the building or still lease the space, it's to justify the cost of the building. That's the number one reason.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I did just fine working from home the for nearly 2 years post COVID and then the employer made us go back in. My happiness index declined and that's about it. Now, I work for myself, 100% remote. I will never go back to a box.

As an IT support person of over 30 years, a hybrid work schedule is nothing new. I wore a headset to support"users" and a pager to handle my server support on-call shifts (we actually programmed the servers to page with specific messages should things go bad). A nice, big Blackberry was so nice... ;-)
I actually preferred going into the office for the social interaction with the users (I was a weird sysadmin). But, I liked the freedom that remote work capability gave as well.

I only got to do it during Covid for two months. I miss it so much.

They just called us back for 3 days a week starting in April.
People are angry and are not prepared to return especially those with children or are further out in rural areas.
It sucks. We had our best productive years these last three years and there was no real reason they gave us to call us back. We think it’s political relationships with the city.

Currently, we're at a near 50-year low unemployment and half of the country wants that to go up in 2024 😅

From experience and observation, flextime work schedule is more desirable.

I’ve been 100% WFH since 2020. Really surprised to see 100% WFH is 1%, my company has at least half are 100% WFH.

If you’re not a remote only company I don’t even bother applying. I’m already in the process of freelancing and building my business. I will build that before I ever head back to an office. I work from where I want not the other way around.

I've been fully remote 11 of the past 13 years with a hybrid job in the middle. I had remote before the pandemic and certainly will after it. My job is a tech inside of cubicle type job, so no reason for there to be in-office work. I laugh when recruiters contact me and say the job requires me mainly in the office. Uh no it does not, and good luck finding a sucker to take that job.
If your boss tells you to come back to the office 5 days per week, say fine. Then start looking for a new job. There are millions more hybrid and remote jobs listed compared to when I started in 2011. Find a good company that actually puts employees first. Those companies requiring 5 days in an office are out for themselves only, and will lose out on the best employees.

These are all nice talking points, and they sound good but since when have companies actually cared about fair promotions? It seem things would be a lot more fair working from home so instead of promoting, the social butterfly who is well known and usually low producing in their positions,
promotions are actually based on productivity.

Full telework has kept me working. I would have retired a year ago if not for Telework. I would probably retire immediately if I had to go full time in the office. And I will probably continue to work an additional 2 or 3 years if I can continue to telework. The other issue is that my Office has gotten rid of almost all of it's office space. We couldn't all fit in the offices we keep now.

Try working in an office where 95% have the hybrid perk. Everyone gets a 3-4 day weekend every week. Nobody shows up on Fridays but my department needs to be in 5 days, no exceptions. Nobody does anything from home. They are only able to pull it off because the rest of us are always in. You have to realize it's highly unfair for others as well.

I don’t know if I would trust the Ernst and Young as a source for news when they are a company that seems to be in favor of in person work with their mandate to return to work. Better journalism please

So we should go back to the office because some positions can’t work from home?!?! 😂 How about they go to their respective work places with less traffic? I’m sure UPS drivers and teachers would love that actually.
