    This time, I decided to work on the videos before the article.
    For this study, I collected ~1600 datapoints, put together 50-something charts to help me to understand pros and cons of manually lofting an AIM-54.
    However, before discussing the results, the basics principles of how the Phoenix works, and where it performs better, should be clear.

    Didn't HB decrease the burntime to 20 seconds?

    Hi, what did you say the g limit of the AIM-54A was? 16 or 60?

    • @FlyAndWire
      @FlyAndWire  Год назад +1

      Actual limits? No one knows, besides who worked or used the missile.
      The 54A pulled 16Gs in a test in mid 70s, and this is public knowledge, but it may be able to pull harder.

    • @EEEEEEE354
      @EEEEEEE354 Год назад

      @@FlyAndWire ah, I see. Even the old AIM-7E-2 could pull around 25g so 16 for a big AIM-54 tracks.

      @FlyAndWire  Год назад

      @@EEEEEEE354 I guess it was able to pull more (and probably bleed most of its energy). However, I always stick to the numbers we have whenever I can. In fact, I recall an interview where crews stated that the C versions was able to pull double the Gs, but it does not mean much per se, imo.
