That T80 looks absolutely amazing.....half aircraft, half spaceship. What a piece of engineering in the 1930's. Mercedes-Benz have some back-catalogue! Unlike any other manufacturer in history!
How in the world were they not able to figure this out through wind tunnel testing? The technology wasn't exactly brand new. The Wright brothers had designed their own wind tunnel 40 years before out of a small shop in Ohio.
Because at that point prop planes would have been slower/around the same speed as it In ww2 you understand how large of a wind tunnel you would need and how much proper the fans would need to test it at nearly 500mph
Yes, i agree with everything youve said there. I guess with 0 downforce at the front, and a diffuser at the rear, creating more df than at the front, it would have taken off, but i think more likely, the bodywork at the rear would have distorted, warped, or worse, disintegrated causing a crash, rather than a clean takeoff. A puncture could also have been possible.
I can’t fathom the power that 44.5 liters would make when combined with todays advancements direct and indirect high pressure fuel, dual apark coil on plug. Vvt/vvl. Sleeved cylinders and boost…… I can’t possibly fathom the power ability that thing has. Like bro 😂
The DB603 HAD direct and indirect fuel injection, dual spark plugs, 4-valve heads, there were versions with two stage blower, nitrous oxide, and water/methanol injection, and even VVT. So, nothing new.
I've been to that museum and saw the T80 there. Over 80 years later it's still an awesome piece of engineering!
Thats pretty cool😱
Ikr? I was truly ahead of its time!
Yea, yet it’s look sometimes is too futuristic, like it sometimes scares me of how fast it could go

Nice to know that Mercedes is consistent with their aerobatic shenanigans lol
Hahaha😂😂
It was only that one type of chassis of the CLK the GTR was a beast and never had any problems
Imagine if Mercedes remade the t80 with all the technical advancements they’ve achieved since then

The write Bros plane went like 20 miles and hour not 500. They would need several thousand hp to move enough air test the full size car.
When the reply easily takes into consideratikn a majorr point op failed to. Truly a think before you post moment.

i notice that South African accent from miles away😂❤
as well bru lol
Same here
The South African Cape town accent can be heard through a soundproof wall

I hope Mercedes would reattempt the record with that car by tweaking it a bit. I would love to see German engineering peak once again
This masterpiece of a car is a Icarus itself
if only there was no war and yet no stricts regulation.
It's a spaceship on ground
...What if Mercedes revives..the Mercedes T80...
Wait so the aerodynamics on the front and the back of the T80 are different?
Ye, duh. In front of the car their is high pressure. Behind, low pressure
It’s different on all cars

The future predicted flying cars - so what’s the problem 😄
by the way: only the first pic is Hans Stuck, the other two is Hans Joachim Stuck, his son.

The cameraman though 💀💀💀
They called every German car of that era the Silver Arrow 😂
Mercedes always king and still greatest car company
👍💪✌
Da supra will be DEAD 2000+
Propaganda backed up by facts 😂
It’s not facts
When you're so dumb you can't understand that propaganda is never factual because that's what the word propaganda basically means
43 seconds in and I can’t take you seriously.
