My husband died almost a year ago. He was a drummer, and music was a big thing that we shared for 20+ years. We had our differences, but we also shared a love of a lot of musicians. I've liked Japan's Tin Drum since it came out, but it's only been since my husband passed that I delved deeper into all of Japan's work and particularly Mick's solo work. It pains me that we didn't get to share this, because it's something both of us would have deeply enjoyed for multiple reasons. Not being able to share this with him just makes the loss hit hard once again. Not helped with the fact that Mick died before his time, too.
Just love those bass harmonics. Fantastic stuff. A great matching of talents with David Torn. Another musical maestro gone but certainly not forgotten!
as incredible as King Crimson ! Japan the band were a band ahead of their time in the 80s,Mick Karn, Steve Jansen, Peter Murphy, David Sylvian are just awesome !
the wal is very distinct each pickup is actually four seperate pickups in one housing ,started using klein because torn played them,i dont like the sound of them at all.

Man I was a hip 23 year old kid playing this in the record store where I worked, when it came out. RIP Mick.
This track contains the most incredible bass parts I've ever heard. Mick Karn had a totally unique approach to playing bass.

i miss you...MIICK!!! この曲がたまらなく好きです!
Oh my god I just found his serious fretless bass work,
Totally amazing.
R.I.P. Mr.MICK KARN.

The sound of that bass can knock down buildings!
and burn bridges?
one of my favourite MK tracks. actually this track is up there among the best tracks ever from the japan camp.
i miss him. great memories.....
yeah i saw mick with david torn once with bruford on drums the other time with bozzio -polytown..his bass tone was awesome..
I saw Polytown in a small club, too. Those three guys were so cool together.
Such awesome fretless tones!
he has had this in his heart, soul and veins since a he was a very little boy
The Bass is so Bad Ass!
Easily on par with Jaco and Larry Graham.
Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow! Not sure how I missed this, but thanks for posting!
I really like this,I never heard of Mick
till today,to bad :(
WOW, SO COOL!!
Mick himself was a mutation; to think he got his start in a Hair Band!
Maybe the best hair band ever, tho. Not the hair, the band.
それもまた素晴らしい。だからミックは最高だ。
great, great stuff !
so good.
All my neurons are dancing!
you would probably enjoy Trey Gunn's albums.
soooooo good. soooooo mick
Genius RIP
He plays the bass abit like a sax here.
RIP
ONE DUMB VOTES NEGATIVE! THAT'S IT....
my least favourite album by mick karn.
why?
don't like the sound of the klein bass, the wal custom is a bit of a karn trademark sound.
titles/dreams of reason produce monsters/bestial cluster & polytown with with torn & bozzio.
the wal is very distinct each pickup is actually four seperate pickups in one housing ,started using klein because torn played them,i dont like the sound of them at all.
SHAZBAT414+ no problem,on youtube, key in ''imagination just an illusion top of the pops 1982''he was the 1st guy i saw playing a wal custom.
