      Thanks very much for filling us in a bit on the mystery. I have no idea where this cane came from, other than saying that Cirebon yard was strewn with pieces of cane, when I saw it in August 1979. But I never saw this on subsequent visits and those transhipment sidings were abandoned two years later when I went back to Tersana Baru. You probably know that the mill had a Ruston DM shunter for working the PJKA deliveries. Presumably there had been a steam predecessor.

      @@rosssadler3199 I don't know if Tersana Baru had a Ruston shunter Mr Sadler, I think that PJKA flatcar rakes was shunted with big PJKA engine, usually CC200 engine from Cirebon shed, the rakes shunted backwards from Babakan Railway Station to Tersana Baru transfer yard

      @@alvianfajar8376 No, it definitely had such an engine because I saw it myself and I have photographs of it, as do other early Tersana Baru visitors. So, PJKA engines would only have only taken the flat wagons to some meeting point and not right into the Tersana Baru yards. Sory.

      @@alvianfajar8376That's fined - Fully understood. We know far too little about these 3'6" gauge connections at the mills. Jatiroto, Semboro, Tasik Madu and Gondang Baru all had them during the years I went there, but they were only used for taking out product, not bringing in cane. Of course, they got far less attention than the tramways and the only one that's properly documented is the Gondang Baru one on Rob's International Steam Sweet Dreams pages. I never explored the 3'6" gauge line at Tersana Baru, but with the PJKA running past the back entrance of the mill (these sidings were at the front of the mill), you'd have to think the line wasn't very long. The Ruston diesel was pointing towards the east, which would mean that it entered the interchange radiator first - this would probably make sense as the driver would have a better view of any PJKA activity in that yard.
