[Rumänien 2007, Teil 06/18] Ploiești, 04.-06.09.2007

Rumänien 2007, meine zweite große Reise ins Land der gebrauchten deutschen Straßenbahnen. Ploiești, das Zentrum der rumänischen Erdölindustrie, hatte zum Zeitpunkt des Besuchs nur noch zwei Straßenbahnlinien (von ursprünglich acht). Die Strecken waren sehr verschlissen und mit der Ausnahme eines rumänischen V3A verkehrten hauptsächlich ex Potsdamer KT4D durch die Stadt, die fast alle noch ihre Potsdamer Lackierung und deutsche Anschriften trugen.
Auch war die Stadt eine Hochburg für Ikarus Busse im Stadt und Überlandverkehr.

Things look better now in Ploiești. All the tram lines have been rebuilt and the KT4D trams run smooth now. Also all the trams have been somewhat modernized, but are definitely showing their age. There are some licitations undergoing for 21 new LF trams. New trolleybuses built by Solaris have arrived in 2021 and 6 electric buses built by SOR are sitting in the depot because they can't get the registration right (like always in Romania😐). We have gotten rid of the Ikarus buses back in 2021, in 2018 some Romanian built buses (which are kinda bad), arrived and right now some studies are undergoing to get funding to replace the MAN buses with new hydrogen, hybrid and electric buses. Thank you for the updated information. It's amazing, but Ploiesti is the last city in Romania that still doesn't have a new low-floor tram. But you announced it was going to change. I myself have always been happy about the Ikarus buses. I was in Ploiesti again in 2016. It was the last city in Europe with manually operated Ikarus buses. And they also had the old folding doors.
