These products just reflect light into people walking. Making it even hotter for them. The problem isnt lack of reflective materials. Its too much asphalt and not enough trees and other shade provising structures.
I read a report about 20 years ago that if every residences roof on Earth was painted white it would reflect a lot of heat back into space and cool the earth quite a bit. I don't know how to find the paper, my search before this comment didn't find it (poor search-fun I guess, haha) but according to the paper, put out long before the climate change bruhaha it should be done
