For VAs, this must be the mother of all voice acting flexes.
The characters I've seen so far (Barnaby and the theatre guy) are extremely cartoony. You really have to do chaotic things with your voice to get it to match the characters energy. And _THEN_ you have to sing while doing that. You have to keep the rhythms within certain parameters, you have to hit those notes (especially for Barnaby, he goes _high_ ) and you have to keep good breath support. All of that, without slipping out of character even a little bit. And since it's a cartoon, any pulling back from the chaos becomes all the more noticable. There's not much wiggle room there either.

@@BlackGryph0n I've heard a couple different things you've sung at this point, and you've got a very flexible voice. The roles you've done really don't sound like each other, they sound like their own unique characters. It's pretty awesome
@BlackGryph0n I remember auditioning for Barnaby. I didn't even care that I wasn't chosen, I was so happy for you, getting to compete with you was a privilege and truly you fit the role like a glove, my take was a bit too ghoulish sounding xD
Barnaby is the perfect balance between unsettling and cartoonish, the little unhinged expressions he does between the lines are perfect, I love him
I like how the concept of not dying is so absent from Barnaby's brain that he views choosing "none of the above" when suggesting murder ideas as "pick a random one my guy idgaf"

the concept of self preservation & will to continue living is alien to a being that never lived or is deceased to begin with.
to him death is merely the door to the next stage of existence.

The way everything works together, and how chaotic it all feels all while fitting together with the song without missing a beat really nails the immersion factor. Deffo feels like youre stuck in the clutches of someone thats absolutely toying with your mortality just for the fun of it.

for the longest time when watching this animation, from the storyboards to the previous version: i never got that Barnaby used his legs like hands and it was only until like maybe two days ago when i found that out and its such a neat and unique detail but i absolutely love it.

A mandela effect i have right now was that when barnaby at the start said "wait a minute..." And when he repeated it i remembered him saying "wait a minuty minute..." But when he just repeated the same thing i was flabbergasted

0:55 ok, see this makes me feel like something extra was going on with Billie that Barnaby noticed. I'm not sure WHAT yet, but he probably was just gonna either LEAVE, have HER leave, or whatever, but then he noticed something about her that made him decided he just HAD to have her at his party at any cost.

This is one of the most amazing platformer bosses I've seen in ages, and gives me the same vibes as the poo boss in Conker's Bad Fur Day except cuter (naturally), with funner game play. My only critique is your yellow ghostly back-up singers look flat and out of place compared to the animated boss, and the 3d environment. It would be nice if they too were animated and had more detail, but otherwise this looks like perfection.

I literally had a dream with Barnaby in it, and woke up to this. This has to be the most perfectly timed video ever lol.

@@brodyhutchens9819 It was a video game character convention, where a ton of characters would go and chat. I was there (for some reason) and just hung out with Barnaby and a few others. We even shared a chocolate cake, which was nice. :3

It’s ruder to try and kill your guests
List of all the changes spotted so far!
1. The gem has more texture and detail.
2. There's a bed/chair where Barnaby disappears during the cutscene instead of nothing.
3. Barnaby wears the gem on his chest instead of just a yellow circle.
4. Sometimes you would see Barnaby pop into place for the chase right after the cutscene but that is not present in this footage and the chase starts with him properly in place.
5. Barnaby's knife swipe has a red and more detailed glow before he strikes instead of blue.
6. Barnaby no longer instant-transmission teleports down the slope and instead slides down the slope behind Billie.
7. Barnaby no longer swipes his knife through the giant pillow and instead swipes after it.
8. The meme pose that Billie does is next to a tombstone with her KO face on it at the end instead of the tombstone just saying "Press Any Button" which is amazing.
9. Even more changes spotted in the replies below!
Edit: On 8. some people are mistaking that I'm saying that they added the meme pose, but I'm only referring to the KO face on the Tombstone.
I still wish there were more sound effects during the chase; it just feels weird to me, having everything else be mute. 🤨

There's a cook book with Billie's body on it, I don't think it was there before.
@@mrbenio looks like they muted the actual gameplay and played the song over it. the lip syncing is a little bit off i think. you should be able to hear Billie jumping, taking damage, and the knife swooshing.
I love how they incorporate another art style into the game by way of a few characters instead of a whole region.

I love how Billie grabs her own pudge when Barnaby says "well you can't go like THAT". Every little extra detail like his face spinning when he's talking to her, the cracks on the gemstone itself and all is just a feast for the eyes and coming out today was a top notch flavor win.
It was pretty funny for Billie to do that, I agree.

I love how expressive Barnaby's facial expressions are. Especially at the start of the chase.

I love it when animation can use its unique medium to make people move in ways you just can't really do in real life footage. I absolutely adore how Barnaby's animated in the first cinematic, it's so creative.
Everything about this is amazing! From the animation, facial expressions, voice acting, scenery and setting and also THE SONG. OH BOY THAT SONG IS AMAZING I WAS JAMMING LIKE CRAZY! Thank you Billie bust up developers and voice actors for bringing this masterpiece of a game to life!

I think itd be cool if when barnaby says shoe, a giant shoe should fall down and smack down with a very audible *THUD*.
I think itd fit the song well, and be an extra challenge in the last part of the song, as it seems a little barren during this section.
You could probably have a shadow start out small, then get bigger and slam down on the ground as soon as the word "shoe" is said.

The animation was so smooth and beautifully done! I loved the bits of comedy thrown in as well! Everyone did an amazing job!
I like how his character, while similar to Snatchers design from a hat in time, is so different you could hardly compare them. It’s quite lovely
Also, "turned into a stuffie, now that’s something we could do" is pretty genius.
Barnaby's my favorite villain so far along with his song! His cartoonish yet dark personality is unexpectedly charming.

Gotta say, this is shaping up so beautifully with all of the additional efforts you all are putting in to this project. I am admitting that I wonder if Barnaby has different statements if you die to each of the obstacles, if at all.
Whether he does or not, this more finished form of this match has solidified my drive to purchase the game when it is released.
