    - About Dr. Mary Claire Haver and The Galveston Diet -
    Dr. Mary Claire Haver is a passionate women’s health advocate who believes women in midlife deserve to live their best life. She cuts through fat-shaming and fads, so women are empowered with the science behind anti-inflammation nutrition.
    Dr. Mary Claire Haver is a wife, mom, physician, and entrepreneur who has devoted her adult life to women’s health. As a Board-Certified OBGYN in the Houston area, Dr. Haver has delivered thousands of babies, completed thousands of well-woman exams, counseled patients, taught residents, and did everything an academic professor and OBGYN could do.
    As her patient population aged, Dr. Haver was overwhelmed with the number of complaints and concerns her patients had with weight gain while going through menopause. For years, she told her patients to eat less and exercise more. It wasn't until she experienced the changes of menopause and mid-life weight gain that she realized this advice doesn't work and ultimately led to her creating and developing a new program, The Galveston Diet.
    The Galveston Diet is the first and only nutrition program created by a Female OBGYN, designed for women in menopause. The Galveston Diet helps women reach their health and wellness goals through an anti-inflammatory approach to nutrition. Dr. Haver believes in food's power to combat inflammation and highly recommends the unlimited benefits of intermittent fasting. As part of her ongoing research, she became certified in Culinary Medicine in 2019, specializing in medical nutrition.

    Something that we don't talk about enough is the fact that when you eat poorly your gut biome changes and makes you crave more crappy food. So these healthier meals are not going to appeal to someone who eats a lot of fast food or eats a lot of gluten or dairy or carbohydrates that aren't necessarily great. The thing that we need to be talking about is that eventually you will crave the berries and the yogurt and the good stuff but it takes time to change your gut biome. Sometimes we have to eat the way we should be eating instead of the way we want to be eating. And we just have to keep doing that until the biome changes.

      That Fage yogurt is very high in protein and it is unsweetened. Berries have a lot of fiber and are low glycemic. The nuts, flax add to the protein content. It wouldn’t cause a large spike. Maybe if you ate that mixed tools it or activia or some other Standard American Diet garbage.

      @@Padraigp So, you missed the Greek yoghurt, berries and nuts? Try it before you diss it. Protein and fats fill you up and don't spike your blood sugar. That means that you will feel satiated for a long time. Eat a baguette instead and your blood sugar will go through the roof for a while and then you will get a low which sends you looking for your next snack, creating a vicious circle of hunger and snacking. But to each his own.

    • @Padraigp
      @Padraigp 5 месяцев назад

      @Acadia26 no I didn't miss the very nice snack or dessert but a lunch involves a whole meal for me. I wouldnt sit down snd eat a baguette either. Bit like soup salad a nice desert like this or a quiche and some coleslaw and fruit..a meal... a sit down for an hour and eat meal. French beans in garlic and butter with a risotto or a bowl of stew and some crusty bread ...or some tapas sort of thing. And chia is inflammatory if not soaked

    Always soak your Chia seeds in anything you want that’s healthy for you the night before, or at least two hours in the refrigerator. Chia seeds expand if you don’t soak them before you eat them, they will expand in your stomach and cause all sorts of digestive issues. I like to grind my seeds, because you have to really chew flax seeds to get all the nutrients. If you don’t grind them it compose a problem when mixing it With other ingredients. Make sure you store your grind flaxseeds in a tight container in the fridge as they can turn rancid pretty quickly.

    Chia needs to be soaked in order to provide benefits. Always keep flax and hemp in fridge- they spoil quickly, especially flax.

    You shouldn't eat dry chia though. They can get caught in your throat and expand causing blockage. Add the chia to the yogurt so they will hydrate.

    I use that brand of yogurt but I get the 0% fat. I use flax seed in all soups, it's a great thickener. Lately I just put the yogurt with a little skim milk n berries...... Maybe I will try adding chia seeds
