Congratulations you two all the best of luck t❤️ I have an interview in a couple of days for graduate studies , do u mind share some of your experience
@@sevinch917 Hey thanks for getting back to me, I was interested in knowing anything related to the interview process. You weren't scheduled for an interview ? I guess maybe because i am applying for graduate studies
@@soulsymphony5111 hey, I had to comment from my different account because RUclips keeps deleting my comments for some unknown reason lol. My friend who had an interview told me that besides the common questions asked on interviews, they asked what clubs she’d join at the university and what book she’d recommend and why
A great combo-data science and epi. I’m a Prof of Epidemiology in one of the top Epi departments and was an undergrad at U of R many decades ago. Good luck!
Hello, I am currently applying for PhD in translational biomedical sciences at University of Rochester. I have just completed my masters in biotechnology from Amity University (2020-2022). I am not aware of the acceptance rate of the university for international students. But I am still applying, hope I get selected 🤞🙃
Any opinion pertaining to difficulty of maintains a solid GPA? Is it difficult to maintain a 3.8 in humanities at the UofRochester? I heard it doesn’t have inflation nor deflation.
It’s not too difficult to maintain a strong GPA if you pick your classes right and maintain good study/work habits. There isn’t really grade inflation or deflation here, except for a few classes
Hey can you please also give tips for off campus housing and suggest good affordable places near the campus? I realize you're living on campus but if possible maybe you can ask your fellow students who live off campus
How well do you know about their film or digital media courses? I plan to apply but can't really feel much of how they'll work for me in terms of environment and opportunity...
I know the DMS program is pretty well-liked and some of my friends have enjoyed it so far. It’s definitely not a USC or NYU-caliber film program (those are some of the top undergraduate film programs), but you can get a lot out of it if you’re proactive and put in the time.
This was really helpful. I am planning to come to Rochester this fall for MS in Data Science. It would be great if you could give some insights about the Data Science Program or you can provide your email id so I can contact you there.
Congratulations! I'd be happy to talk about it in a future video, but if you would like my contact email, just check the About section of my channel and I can answer any specific questions you might have.
Hi! I'm attending Rochester as a freshman this fall, and I was wondering if you would recommend double majoring? Do you think the workload you have is stressful?
In general, it kind of depends on the major. For my two majors, it hasn’t been too bad and the workload in general is pretty manageable. But if you decide to do pre-med or a heavy STEM major like neuroscience or BME, you may find it harder to manage, in which case double majoring probably won’t be a good idea
It is important to note though, that the open curriculum lends itself very well to double majoring in feilds from two of the three different disciplines (STEM, Social Sciences, Humanities). Ex. My roommate is double-majoring in Linguistics and BCS, and the only courses he has to take outside of those are 3 humanities classes.
Hey Gooth , first of all congrats man! I wanted to know one thing, please help me with this Do they provide scholarships (merot based) or financial aid for international students who want to pursue an undergraduate degree I'm from India ,junior year in high school. Hoping for a soon reply Good luck bro!
They do! I am a student right now, and I received the Bausch + Lomb Scholarship, which is very sizeable. Furthermore, I received a large amount of need-based aid, though I am aware this is different. I also know of many others who have received a wide variety of scholarships, some small, some very large.
@@amy21470 I am an Undergrad (and only in Phys, not Astro), so I don't have any experience personally. But, I do know that most of our research oppostunities are geared towards Astro. Fuethermore, the Physics professors that I have had so far have been great! That being said, I have heard mixed reviews about the Astro professors.
Super useful video tysm!! Just applied ED and now I'm feeling so happy that I decided to ED there after watching this. I'll have an interview next week, do you have any advice for that?
@@deepesh16 Thanks to your video, I actually mentioned part of it in the interview. I actually got in! Unfortunately FA is a problem so I dropped my dream school :(
Your field of study is very specific, especially being that you just finished your freshman year. How did you know you wanted to study data science and epidemiology? I recognize that in combination these degrees can be used together for very specialized fields.
I'll actually be making a video on this shortly but basically, I've always had an interest in CS and in high school, I aspired to use my future CS knowledge in the medical field without having to attend med school. At U of R, the DS majors and epidemiology majors not only had a lot of overlap but also seemed to best fit my interests. It also helped that Rochester is one of the only schools with an epidemiology undergraduate major so that may help me stand out in the future!
As a professor of epidemiology in a top program, I can tell you that the job prospects are great-ideally with at least a master’s and better yet with a PhD or equivalent, depending on what you want to do. But there are many prospects, esp in rural health depts, with an undergrad degree.
hello, I can't wait to get accepted from this school for fall next year! but is the SAT exam compulsory for international students at the application stage? I only have the financial situation to meet the English proficiency exam, I hope this does not affect it badly.
The school itself has been pretty safe; I've never had any issues with safety on campus. With that being said, there are some areas of the cities that are definitely unsafe but they are far enough away that it's pretty easy to avoid. I would say the campus overall is definitely pretty safe.
Can you do a video on the dorm and dining options. Also if there are other costs laundry gong into town best way to get to nyc . Do you need a car is there a charge for parking
I can’t really speak from experience but I’m sure the opportunities are similar to other top-ranked schools. In the end, it’s more about your proactiveness and work ethic than about which school you attend.
Definitely an interesting program to consider. The courses can get a little dry but the curriculum is pretty manageable and comprehensive and the topics we cover are pretty fascinating if you’re interested in Epi or public health
Hi there! Just got accepted as a first year transfer but the school classified me as class of 2024. Since I’ll basically restart college, is it easy to change majors at U of R?
Hi, thanks for reaching out! I’m not too sure if URochester has specific TOEFL requirements but I would definitely recommend reaching out to a professor in the epidemiology department and expressing your interest. Here’s a link to the PhD program: www.urmc.rochester.edu/education/graduate/phd/epidemiology.aspx
The school is about 25% international so there's definitely a ton of diversity here! I've had the opportunity to meet people from all around the world.
We don’t have an architectural program as far as I know, but there is a major in “archaeology, technology, and historical structures (ATHS)”, which you may want to look into if you’re interested.

Hi! Is UofR good for international students?
Is epidemiology a hard major ? Compared to engineering, or a hard science ? I am thinking of being a philosophy and epidemiology double major.
Maybe bioethics, as well
I’m class of 2022 and UofR is my #1 and I was just wondering if everyone does an interview? Are they optional? Thank you!
I didn't have an interview when I applied. It's recommended if U of R is one of your top choices but completely optional.
