    SOME WERE ALSO MIXED WITH SILVER TO GIVE THEM A SILVER LOOK.

    Some interesting coins! The provincial issues are often a challenge to identify, even for an advanced collector. The Roman imperial issues are easier.

    Not silver..they invented technique with tinning and brand new coins were looking just amazing and eye appealing. True silvering in that period is actually very rare!

      @@TreasureTownCoins It depends. Sometimes tinning, but sometimes they put the planchets in a strong brine solution which ate away the copper and left a thin layer of silver on the surface of the coin.
