積もった雪がすべて凍ってるのではなく、屋根との接地面を通る雪解け水が冷やされて凍り“滑り面”となって起きる一種の“雪崩(なだれ)”です
このようにすべての積雪が崩れるのは“全層雪崩”と呼ばれる現象で、雪山で起こる雪崩と原理は同じ(雪山で起きやすいのは“表層雪崩(積雪の上に新雪が積もり、その間に雪解け水による滑り面ができた結果起こるもの)”)
だから屋根からこのように飛び出した雪がある場合、下敷きになると人は簡単に◯にます
おそらく経験したことがない人は木に積もった雪が落ちるような“ボフッ”としたものを想像するため危険予知ができないのかな、と
