See me - Put yourself in my place Be me - Put my eyes in your face Maybe then you'll see Why this place terrifies me And why I've got to get myself away So hard to deal with the ones who aren’t real They continually blow my mind No need - I've been burned enough times myself You're like me - Sometimes you scare yourself The things that you think And the way that you feel Makes you think you're all alone When you go outside And try to find yourself a familiar mind It really lets you know that you're on your own So unknown When those walls close in around you When all about you doubt you When the world can live without you Get a grip, get a grip and keep it You see how hard they'll shove you Hate your guts and tell you they love you Get a grip, get a grip, right now You see how far you get pushed How long they'll hold you down Feed you lies, drive you insane Give you poison to kill your pain Know me - I see the fear in your eyes Pull back - There are some things to realize So hard to deal with the ones who can't feel It's unbelievable what they'll put you through Get in your face and smile, get in your face and lie And all the while, you just stand in line No matter what they say or do, no matter what they put you through Never lose your self-respect You don't have to live like that You don't have to live like that No, no, no, no, nooooooo You've got to keep your self-respect You've got to keep your self-respect You got to jump back Keep your self-respect intact You've got to keep it like that You've got to keep your self-respect You've got to keep your self-respect Your self-respect Living well is the best revenge
Yep saw his first Australia gig was 16 unreal bass player broke a string still played with 3 my first stage dive always wire those Bike shorts anyway not a timetraveller jus old and why is this suddenly getting attention did Mr Henry Rollins die or something????
My fave Rollins Band batch of jams - for years I would always play Tearing first when debuting a new stereo to see how much the speakers could cope with 🤘🏻
2 sides of the same coin. Anselmo and Rollins would've been an unstoppable team back in the day. I guess they still could be. Shame Rollins doesnt sing anymore. Cant really get in to his political talks. Love the music tho!
Amazing how garfield managed to get such competent musicians to surround him when he absolutely had no talent at all. Solid album musically and production wise thanks to Andy Wallace mixing....
This tune is so underrated. One of the best ones on End of Silence.
my very fav.. damn i love rollins!
Great lyrics
See me - Put yourself in my place
Be me - Put my eyes in your face
Maybe then you'll see
Why this place terrifies me
And why I've got to get myself away
So hard to deal with the ones who aren’t real
They continually blow my mind
No need - I've been burned enough times myself
You're like me - Sometimes you scare yourself
The things that you think
And the way that you feel
Makes you think you're all alone
When you go outside
And try to find yourself a familiar mind
It really lets you know that you're on your own
So unknown
When those walls close in around you
When all about you doubt you
When the world can live without you
Get a grip, get a grip and keep it
You see how hard they'll shove you
Hate your guts and tell you they love you
Get a grip, get a grip, right now
You see how far you get pushed
How long they'll hold you down
Feed you lies, drive you insane
Give you poison to kill your pain
Know me - I see the fear in your eyes
Pull back - There are some things to realize
So hard to deal with the ones who can't feel
It's unbelievable what they'll put you through
Get in your face and smile, get in your face and lie
And all the while, you just stand in line
No matter what they say or do, no matter what they put you through
Never lose your self-respect
You don't have to live like that
You don't have to live like that
No, no, no, no, nooooooo
You've got to keep your self-respect
You've got to keep your self-respect
You got to jump back
Keep your self-respect intact
You've got to keep it like that
You've got to keep your self-respect
You've got to keep your self-respect
Your self-respect
Living well is the best revenge
Thanks for posting the lyrics. In the old days there would have been a 7" double a-side; this tune and Public Image by PIL. Love Rollins Band forever.
'When those walls close in around you
When all about you doubt you
When the world can live without you'
I can relate to this, and the whole song
I think having even just a little self respect is one of the most important thing in life. This song made me do a complete 180.
I agree
@@ivanmdc22 Thank you for agreeing 🙏

A VERY much underrated album
Trey Fisse
Used to crank it up back in the daze. Drug n shrink free therapy.
His best album

love the bass play in the song, been listening to it none stop while working out
True! It's a drug
Andrew Weiss is a beast; unsung hero
Get a grip and keep it. Such simple but excellent advice. Damn I wish Henry was still making music 😞
Agree
Me too. But I admire his integrity of stopping when he doesn't feel it anymore
He will. On the pages of music. There is a notation that exclaim "rest" unless he sold out like most of the cali sellouts.
Henry was my favorite solo musician in the 90's,every freaking album was killer
Healing my soul, feeding my heart...
"No armies. No armies. Army of one. I'm the lord of my church. I wrote the book. I'm the man on the cross. I'm the boss. And I believe. Amen."
Please tell me who said that quote so i can worship him
@@motherofoblivion7497 HR himself. Hell of a guy.
Finally found a familiar mind even though I'm still lost in this world that is mine alienated
Parts of this song give me an RATM vibe. 🤘🎸 Great stuff!
Such a beautiful and powerful message in this song. And oh yeah, it also rawks.
Been with this album since 1987 and it still relates
@toilet_quake nope 53 now jus fukn old edit maybe wrong a year or two sorry I'm Old
Except this was released in 1992.
@@gunterkrass4778 .. I'm Old can't remember LoL .. thought he did some of those song's but I was on weed Bak then think it was 89 he come over
Happy birthday Mr. Rollins!
Get a grip
Get a grip
Get a grip
RIGHT NOW!
This song revs me up
Clearly his best album
Ugh Thks Henry!!!!! I needed this song today 💚
Great playing
Legend
I could swear I once saw a pic / poster of that Phil there next to your name and Rollins!
2 sides of the same coin. Anselmo and Rollins would've been an unstoppable team back in the day. I guess they still could be. Shame Rollins doesnt sing anymore. Cant really get in to his political talks. Love the music tho!
"Give you poison to kill your pain" gracias Henry!!!
Rollins Band is underrated as hell.
great song
Fucking life saving song 💥 Thank you
So hard to deal with the ones who aren't real.
Can’t wait till I get my end of silence tattoo
Cool
Rollins swet hit everyone at his shows. Kind of like the fake blood at a Gwar show, if you didn't have some on you then you weren't there.

The main riff kinda sounds like four sticks by Zeppelin.
Funny thing. I think they did the versión of it in encomium the tribute to led zeppelin
not so close, it's his own in my opinion
I love this song. It almost sounds like NoMeansNo in style + lyrics, just needs to have the bass mixed louder.
What is the time signature in this song?? It's driving me crazy
Its in 5 :)
Anybody listening?
Every day
Hell yeah I have to listen at least once a day
Fuckin’ A
Henry has said before that Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy is his Guardo Camino. Well Rollins is MY Guardo Camino!
Henry and this album took me places.
this is good but the demo is better
