Despite what people say about HSPs, highly sensitive people have their own unique strengths too. Curious to know what they are? Watch this video: ruclips.net/video/UEwJtYsu6Zo/видео.html

I felt so betrayed when people, even as a little kid, would tell me to stop being so sensitive. Now I understand (in a humble way) the power that I and so many others have. I related to all of those 7 signs and I even thought of more signs based on previous adversities in life in my short 18 years. Understanding and analyzing the world through thoughtful eyes and an empathetic heart is something the majority of people around me never grasped. Even as a toddler, my mom would tell me how I would intently analyze things and people. I hope to have a relationship with someone who I'd understand and who'd understand me, but for real...Love you my fellow HSPs ❤

@@andreagarcialopez5988 @Andrea García López you shouldn't have to be afraid :) just be yourself and if they can't deal with that, they are not the one for you. It's something I had to learn, but I have peace with it now. Just take me for who I am, no one deserves less. Stay true to yourself and with time you will find the right partner! I have one, and he may not understand me in every way, but he respects me, all of me, so also this part. With a lot of talking we found a way which works for us. Love is beautiful, but also a lot of work. In the end it's all worth it (atleast for me).

Not distracting, not overwhelming, instead just... well, soothing. Thank you, Psych2Go. ♥

Being an hsp is just continously soul crushing to me...
You get to enjoy all these little things and you notice so many wonderful details that others never get to experience.... But everytime you see some of these and start talking about how joyful something makes you feel and how beautiful you think something is people start to look at you all weird and confused. It's just annoying to never find someone who shares your view of the world.
I love my friends and family but they never seem to get that you really wanna be that person who just... finds joy in all the wholesome things...
You're never understood and bottle your emotions to a degree where you just about guess the social standard would accept your way you view the world. It feels even worse being male, where emotions are always synonymous to weakness. You just get afraid to never find those people around you that enjoy that side of you because it seems so rare. Same counts for love. Barely any woman wants a guy who keeps raving about lovingly crafted small details in buildings, nature, movies. And then this might not even be true... but you just feel like it.. so you bottle your emotions even more to socially acceptable point...
I love being able to feel so much.
But I hate being socially forced to brake my emotions this way. You can just never truly be yourself...

Regarding the point about absorbing other ppl's feelings . . .
WOW!!! This explains the reason I have become so repelled by a neighbor I used to TRY to be friendly with. In short - even though I'm a hsp, when around others I try to be charming, funny and gregarious which zaps my energy. So all the times we chatted felt to me like giving myself away. Not only THAT but she is one of those professional victims happy in her misery, never returning my offerings of happy chit chat. Recently I didn't know why but I COULDN'T STAND TO EVEN SEE HER let alone show my previous friendliness. Now, due to a few of these helpful videos, I completely understand my anger and revulsion. SHE WAS POISONING ME WITH HER PERCEPTUAL NEGATIVITY and her complete unacceptance of my helpfulness and sympathy.
Thank you a thousand times for this ah ha moment (insight). I can now relinquish my anger and return to my normal self. What a GREAT RELIEF to finally understand why these energy suckers have plagued me all my life. I'm 75 and still learning how to live this gift of life. Thank God for your psychological explanations. I just had an argument with someone who was calling over being over sensitive being too emotional and crying over everything. Of course I was pretty upset and I explained what it actually was. I was ridiculed and told my facts were wrong. I hate arguing with immature people who are unnecessarily rude. I have valid facts and symptoms and was told I was assuming what the other person had. I didn’t say anything about them btw. I hated that while texting in the argument my heart was beating so fast and was about to cry. I really didn’t want to though. And he was being rude to me ima large gc so I felt embarrassed. I cried after and was sad for the rest of the day. It doesn’t help that I’m also an infj and an empath so this affected me very much. In short some thoughts that may help you - the first thing is to ask yourself do I need to be always right and what I have to actually proof to this person - do I need external validation to my opinion to feel happy - or I am happy and know my value no matter what the other person is saying, doing and thinking. Some toxic people feel pleasure to trap you in argumentative discussions and drain your energy. To think on the matter this way - I am allowed to have my opinion - others are allowed to have theirs- I understand your viewpoint but not feel the urge and the need for you to understand mine if you are not capable 😃. People opinions are something external - and something we can never fully control - and trying to control others opinions can bring huge irritation and unhappiness if we try hard to do so.

@@lillyk3680 Hey, my point is this is more like a process - the results doesn't instantly happen - the results are determined by your inner work, and growing emotionally day by day - for example if you are unhappy dont just dwell and overthink it - but focus your thoughts to try to change that from inside to out (not pretending that you are happy -this is only resulting in toxic fake happiness) just try asking yourself - what is the real cause of your unhappiness or negative emotion - sometimes our emotions get triggered by outside stimuli (a dispute, somebody's actions or behavior) but the true cause for our emotions and reactions is just our personal interpretation on the matter and it is coming from our perspective (inside world). Great video! As a lifelong HSP, I would say that using the word "over" as in overcritical, overanalyze, etc. is not accurate for me. I definitely spend a lot of time thinking and analyzing, but I'm just trying to learn and piece all the pieces together. Sometimes that means that I need to go over the same things a lot until I understand them better, but that has served me well for many years. In the video, it seems to be inferring that this "over" doing things is negative, but it has definitely been one of the best things in my life that has taught me so much and helped me find peace and understanding.

And shaking off who narcissistic mother and bully enabler father groomed me to be. Literally struggling today as I grapple with a decision to leave a crochet group I enjoy. The leader is toxic. And, I don’t wanna be in her company. She does things based on her thinking & feelings for different members of the group. She is quite insensitive 😢 😠 to others making jokes about physical appearance that is the result of a medical condition 💔💔. Today I think was the last straw!!! I’m done. I spoke with a good friend about the events of this day and did ask “am I being too sensitive??” To which she responded “no, I think you’re thinking right”. I learned from my Grandmother to always do what’s right. For me to be in the company of a leader who doesn’t do this, is more than I want to handle. One point, which I'd like to offer as constructive feedback and not as aggressive criticism, is that as a person with HSP traits, I find background music and ambient soundtracks in spoken-word videos and podcasts to be particularly distracting and irritating. I'd place that in the "noisy environments are chaotic" category. The background music in this video, even though soft and gentle, didn't add to the educational content, and it detracted from the calm narration.

It's so lovely meeting fellow HSPs.
I used to get told I was too sensitive, like it was a bad thing. I still feel anxious about admitting this to people as they either A) will misunderstand me or B) manipulate me.
With help, from therapist and this channel, I am understanding that this is my superpower.
    We are all superheroes!😁❤️🦸🦸🏻‍♀️

    1. Some loud noises could mind me and my ears can hear literally everything around me
    2. Yes I relate. If someone for example cries next to me I feel bad and sorry, If someone is angry, I feel nervous
    3. I relate a lot. I'm over-analytical, observant and over-thinking. When someone says or makes something to me it will be stucked in my head for a long time and I hardly forget it
    4. If I don't sleep enough can feel tired and nervous all day. Actually If I can't sleep is because I can't stop thinking to what happened to me that day or because I am anxious for something (like a school test)
    5. Well... I never feel "hangry"
    6. I can relate too. I'm very self-critical (and maybe strict to myself) and I feel pressed when I am observed or under evaluation. I feel that I'll do everything wrong, I am also very anxious and I am afraid that people can hate or judge me.
I feel embarrassed when someone found out someone a interest of mine and I always have doubts about myself (for example I sometimes feel that I'm not sensitive or idk I feel toxic etc)
    7. Relatable. I usually say yes when I actually want to say no. I don't want to make upset people and I never say if something is wrong
Sorry I had to write this .-.

The overthinking part started once a someone critized me harsh and truelly cruel. They insulted me and I was so angry. This person is someone important that I see in day to day life. I never dealt with my anger and it festers. It never goes away. I started to realise that I was angry at myself to. Cause deep down I judged myself just as cruel and since then I've been expierencing self doubt.

I been highly sensitive ever since I was little I’ve accepted that it’s just a part of me and I been trying to not let others bring me down bc of it bc there’s nothing wrong with being sensitive. It doesn’t mean I’m easily upset over little things like people assume. I just absorb the energy around me. Trying to surround myself with good people has been great for my mental health alone.

#2 is me in a nutshell. Honestly, I feel like it's more of a nuisance than a gift. It's especially difficult when you have people in your life/family with a lot of problems who can't manage their own lives. And then you feel it all. In these times I felt like my life was in shambles when in reality I only felt their feelings while my own life was going fine.

    1. noisy environments are chaotic for you
I REALLY relate to this, as I often felt like I was the only one who noticed how loud the room was despite everyone else laughing and having fun and joking. I can barely focus when my classroom's really loud, and I become really unproductive and frustrated. I hold it in because what can I do? Even when the teacher tries to help, the class will get loud again... My mom used to say 'hey, people can learn better with loud noise because it becomes background noise' and I find that the case _sometimes_ but often I'm more distracted and frustrated than being in silence.
    2. you absorb other people's feelings as your own
This isn't really true of me. It's hard for me to connect to people's feelings easily, so I have to put pieces together and try to image what _I_ would feel like if I were in their shoes. I think this is because I haven't experienced enough things that I can't relate, so I can only image. Even then, people's feelings doesn't transfer to me, more so that I'm 'mirroring' people's feelings than 'absorbing'.
    3. you are overly analytical and observant of other people
I'm not sure if this is true to me or not. I mean, I am quite critical to myself, but I will admit I do kind of get judgmental and assume things about others by observing... But in my head I tell myself to stop because assuming things is wrong and that I shouldn't act on only assumptions. It's not a good things for me to do, so I try not to. I need to be more of an open person.
    4. you don't do well on a poor nights sleep
I... I think I have poor nights sleep almost every day so I wouldn't know...
    5. you get extremely 'hangry'
I usually don't have that big of an appetite so I don't know. Whenever I'm angry, I just hold it in until it settles. I know that's not a good thing to do, but eh... (I'm usually not that much of an 'angry' person or don't lash out, in fact I prefer not to, and I just tend to be more upset than angry.)
    6. the pressure of being under observation is overwhelming to you
THIS!!! OH MAN, I'm an artist, and I love drawing, but the instant someone's behind watching me, then I will draw terrible. I don't intend to, but that's because I feel a little pressured to do 'better' just to show off that I'm actually good or just to impress them or just to tell them 'hey! I don't suck!' but like, every time, my artwork looks worse then when I draw alone.
    7. you say yes when you really want to say no
Ahaha, to combat this, I often say 'maybe' or 'i don't know' or 'it depends' or 'im not sure, let me think about it.' I just generally need time to think about it, I hate being rushed. but this annoys people, and I understand why! People want clear answers, but I don't want to confirm an absolute answer before making sure it's the answer I want. Anyways, this happened to me sometimes, but it's to close people who go 'you really actually don't want to, right? you can say no' so thankfully I can say no.
