I located the ribbon and there was a tiny grease smudge. Quick wipe with an alcohol pad, and voila! Perfect printing! THANK YOU!

Thank you. Came here because Canon Printer TR4520 was printing and copying vertically askew images. An infrequent error 5100 also popping up. All maintenance performed and no better. Using your tip, I spotted grease on the ribbon, wiped it clear with alcohol swab and oila. Too easy, once I had the right information.
