I've subconsciously used these ideas in my arrangements lol
Good to know the explanation on why this works ;)

And then subtract 14 cents from the major 3rd and add a minor 7th and subtract 31 cents. :)

Is this why a barbershop quartet is able to sometimes produce a fifth note, because these overtones add up?

Luuk Swinkels yeah, that’s an acoustical phenomenon called subharmonics. Pretty cool stuff.

Two Minute Music Theory I thought subharmonics was when the instrument sounds at a lower pitch than the "lowest possible note" I have noticed this extra note phenomenon in my own quartet writing. I could have a chord spread out across 2 octaves and hear a non-notated note in the chord a third above the viola because of the way the instruments resonate.

Hey! I really love your channel. Can you make a video about negative harmony ? Thanks!

ilias berrada hey, thanks for the kind words! I haven’t planned on doing a video on the topic. But both Adam Neely and 12 Tone have great videos on Negative Harmony.

Once again... simple, makes sense. Any "suggestions' for composing SSAATTBB compositions?

Is there any book on this topic. I'd like to learn more about it. If someone known about a book on the topic of overtones in general and overtones of diffrent instruments, pleese tell me.

I am currently writing a book on this subject this style of composition is called spectral composition and my book will be called spectral harmony. I have been developing a system of composition around it for the past 13 years , what’s cool is it uses the normal piano tuning (equal temperament with stretch tuning) approximating the harmonic series in the best possible position. Check out my spectral compositions in my relevant playlist where I show diverse modalities of how to apply it and if interested contact me for private lessons and early access 👍

Hi, I have a question: Is it one whole piece I have to compose with only one harmonic series? but let said if I compose with different harmonic series (for example: on A, on C, on E and so on), so what's the different if I compose it with jazz chords like AM7, CM7 and EM7 and so on...I feel like nothing different....just the way we are giving the names...

Everything in this video is only about voicing or orchestration of individual chords, so it is relative to the root of each chord.
