Nobody will thumbs up this comment but, I lived overseas in Italy on a military installation. Vicenza to be exact, and they played a local show in 2010, in that little town, max like 40 people there, Matt Embree said he played that show because they had been there before and loved it, thats all. I ended up drinking some brews with him it was awesome, still my favorite band!!!! So glad they are doing new stuff.
Good old boi , me too have a soft spot for them yh mate have had some thing in my past experience with music hard punk rock and psy acid Tek bro jam on one life one lov
I truly think this is one of the most underrated bands. Rx bandits are absolutely amazing on record and live. They've got the right ethics and each record they make progresses in some way. I think its a shame they are not embraced more and I hope their hardcore fans stick around for a long time to keep them going. I never rant on youtube... but I just can't help it for rxb!
Shortly after this album had its debut, I heard "And the Battle Begun" on a local indie station, and IMMEDIATELY went out and bought the CD. Had never heard of the band before that.
Same for me, but it was actually an internet friend who mentioned them to me at the time. We met and used to hang out on a forum called psp-hacks and that guy went by the handle MarsVolta... Of course, we connected over music among other things and he was like "you like TMV, you should check these guys out" - one of the greatest recommendations of my life! I remember getting sucked in by their website which was all themed like the ATBB artwork. Got the CD from FYE the next time my dad took me to the mall and played that thing over and over and over. I've always said they are so underrated. Have introduced so many more people to their music over the years. I really hope they put out some new music again.
@@MyUncleWorksForNintendo The Mars Volta is probably the closest thing to this album and Mandala. Their journey as a band is crazy. I remember hearing them on a sampler in 1999 (when they were still in high school), when they were ska/punk, and watching them change sounds and grow over the years has been a true privilege.
When they all play together they are billed as RX Bandits. Chris Tsagakis and Matt started a project called BICERATOPS, Matt has also been associated with a few different projects: ME&LP with Lisa Papineau, Love You Moon with Lauren Coleman, he did a few tracks with Noel Vinson aka VITAL Emcee. Some other members have other bands, Satori was started by their former trombone player. The Sounds of Animals Fighting is another. Check em out! They're all Sargent House (label) groups.
Well coming from someone who stumbled upon this band through TSOAF, meaning this is my first experience with Rx Bandits, I would have to say that this is great! I love this sound. Great musicianship.
I'm 44 years old now. I've been listening to these dudes since 03 I guess. I've been to multiple shows, hung out many times, even bought merch and albums from their side projects or rather, label mates. 2 drunken poets still gets heavy rotation in my world. Check that shit out if y'all get a minute.
Oh man, loving this song just as much as the day it came out. I remember the tour for this album. Sooo good! Don't know why I haven't listened to them in the last couple years but clearly I need to bust out all of their vinyls I have!!!
this song is so perfectly constructed. its mind blowing. i wouldn't call it my favorite song, or even their best. but its definitely the most genius in terms of the way it progresses.
wanna hear something awesome ?? The Sound of Animals Fighting - Cellophane Matt Embree sings it. its freaking amazing. Anthony Green (former Saosin, now Circa Survive) is in it too
+Osvaldo Я No entiendo, porque? el que sea mas popular la va a hacer mejor banda? la vas a poder disfrutar mas? porque no se puede escuchar una banda o artista sin pensar que el éxito de esta depende de la cantidad de gente que la escuche/conozca?
RIP Rx Bandits You guys are my favorite band EVER and it 's depressing to know that you guys won't be making another album. I saw you guys live once and it was the best concert I've ever been to, bar fucking none. I've been listening to you guys since 2000 and you have never failed to amaze me with every album you came out with. Your unique mix of progressive, dub and punk is unprecedented and there will never be another band that did it quite like you guys. Your music will live on forever.
Saw these guys last year in Minneapolis. Had no idea who they were, hadn't even listened to a single song. My friends made me go. One of the best concerts of my life, and that's saying a lot.
im seeing them next month (toronto) with my bro, this will be my third concert, im so excited to see such an excellent band as one of my first concerts
These guys are brilliant and amazingly talented. One of my favorite bands if not my favorite. I'm seeing them live in Cali next month. It will be soo amazing.
i am 7 hours away from seeing them in new orleans i am truly grateful i get to see them perform at the very end of it all. it's going to be a very fitting farewell to one of the most underrated bands of all time. it's just a shame their not going on a full tour so everyone can feel as lucky as i do.
RX Bandits might be the most talented complete band out there today (The Living End could give em a run for pure musical talent, though). This song is one of the most complete songs I've ever heard. RX Bandits for life!
Just got to see this live at their last show ever. One of the best shows I have ever seen. It's a shame that it was their last show, but they went out the best way possible.
The last two times I saw Rx live Matt covered The Wind Cries Mary by Hendrix. If anyone has footage of that I would be truly grateful if you would upload it. If anyone hasn't checked out Matt's solo project it's a really cool album. He plays acoustic, much different from RX but still very good. He has a really unique voice and that album really opened my eyes to his level of guitar playing. That shit's difficult to do on an acoustic. It's called Love You Moon.
Without a doubt world's most underrated band. Saw them in Amsterdam last year, one of the best shows I've ever seen...and I've seen a lot of gigs... By the way, any drummer who tells you he can (easily) drum this...is lying!
@@user-ne6eu6hy1f Sadly, no they do not. As great as they are/were, they never attained the commercial success they wanted or needed in order to play music for a full time career. So, they disbanded and went back to normal lives working and starting families, etc. etc. But they did do a reunion tour a couple years ago that was really cool for fans, especially not having seen them in many years. I really hope they do that again!
@@user-os1zd6gm6j it's really sad. I cannot believe how dead the comments sections for their videos are now. They are so talented and made some of my favorite albums...there are all these highly technical, "noodly", chaotic, progressive bands that are popular these days but none of them have the penchant for melodies to accompany the technical skill and cool riffs that they had. They deserved a lot more.
RX BANDITS play the ROCK CITY BASEMENT in NOTTINGHAM as part of their 10 YEAR 'RESIGNATION' ANNIVERSARY TOUR on THURSDAY JANUARY 30TH 2014. Ticket are available from the Rock City box office or alt tickets.
We should build statues of gold of them and we worship those statues. Awesome stuff. You can really see the growth in their playing in each album they release. I'm stoked for their next one!
This video is sick! Lets see the unedited cut with the concepts in the background. LETS SEE IT! MORE BANDITS MOOOOOORE! GREAT VIDEO regardless. My favorite part.. "OPERATOR OPERATOR" And matts eyes going crazy...
Still ripping on a genius level in 2023. Never knew there was a vid!
Yep, 17 years ago

They're one of the most amazing bands, ever.
So underrated, might I add.

we're still here. Just waiting for another album.
Facts!
The way the "battle-like" drums and soft voices crescendo in the intro makes me melt.

I can think of no words to describe the brilliance of this song.
This song is just Perfect. There's no other way to describe it :)
Almost TOO perfect.
this video is too perfect as well one of their best
MYSTICAL
I mean you could describe it as bad but you'd be wrong

Literally just found this band and song... Crazy
Welcome to the club
this is absolutely fantastic. The whole album is superb. The hours and hours ive spent listening to it. it does not loose its magic.
2023 Stand up!!!!!
I cannot stop listening to them for about 5 months now, nonstop!
When someone who broke your heart,is the one who showed you this song..
+Amanda Shepard for me its the opposite lol i showed someone i cared for deeply this song and she broke my heart
Ha. Samesies.
I'm going to cry after I see them live for the last time. I dream of a reunion somewhere down the line, and one last album...

love how intricate and detailed the bandits are and always have been in their song writing... nice
Intuitive understanding of how a guitar is to be utilized in a piece of music. Same could be said for their Mandala album. True genius. Love them.
I love Rx Bandits!!! This song is awesome!! rx bandits @ ccs solo faltan dias para verlos en concierto YEAH!!!
wanna hear something awesome ??
The Sound of Animals Fighting - Cellophane
Matt Embree sings it. its freaking amazing.
Anthony Green (former Saosin, now Circa Survive) is in it too
This is ten years without any notice? Damn. Sounds of animals fighting and this town needs guns. Yes.
Tiger and The Duke was nothing short of a masterpiece!
The Heretic is my favorite song by them... the singer from Chiodos is also n the band
Love You Moon is his acoustic singer songwriter project album is called WAXWANE
Desearia que esta banda tuviera mas popularidad :D es fantastica!!!!

A really underrated band. I'm so glad i found out about them. Otherwise i would be missin out on some awesome music.
I'm so glad I typed RX instead of EX, or else I would've never found this band. Such a mellow sounding tone. Ska needs to be brought back.
I love how it gets slowly and slowly more complicated and amazing. It builds so well

RX bandits is definitely one of my favorite bands of all time the distance I would drive to see them again
Just saw these guys in Dallas for their farewell tour. Greatest concert in the world.
Saw these guys last year in Minneapolis. Had no idea who they were, hadn't even listened to a single song. My friends made me go.
One of the best concerts of my life, and that's saying a lot.
I just saw them in Arizona last night for their farewell tour! It was perhaps the best RX show I have been to! So Epic even without the horns!
A lot of the bands out there could learn something from these guys. In my eyes the are the greatest band of my generation.
Musicianship...possibly. propagandhi
Such a great song. Incredible album
Holy crap I forgot about these guys and I feel like I'm rediscovering them again. I love it!
"Take it away, release all your tension..."
This song alone releases all my tension :)
I don't see why more people aren't in love with the bandits. They're just so freakin great
these guys amaze me everytime with their songs, the rhytm the lyrics everything.they're fun and a challenge to play.wish they could come to aruba.
im seeing them next month (toronto) with my bro, this will be my third concert, im so excited to see such an excellent band as one of my first concerts
Saw them in San Antonio at their last show on tour.
They totally give it all!
I loved it.
You can talk about Huge guitar solos and Drum solos!
been following this band since i had my first bowl. sweet sound. been addicted ever since.
If the bandits keep up their pace, their next album will be an epic masterpiece. Here's to believing it will be!

Who Would Have Thought they would ever get this amazing. so good.
Good to know, cause I'm seein their concert on the 19th.

Its incredible how this band has evolved.
Awesome song.
I'm going to see them July 9th in D.C. Let the Battle Begin.

i love how the rx bandits have matured and how beautiful and meaningful their music has become. ska was fun, but i'm glad they moved on.
beyond amazing. I love Rx Bandits!
Just got to see this live at their last show ever. One of the best shows I have ever seen. It's a shame that it was their last show, but they went out the best way possible.

They rocked my socks off at the concert @ paradiso Amsterdam yesterday!
Great acoustic show on Mother's day!U guys should do an acoustic album.
Still their best music video....and one of the best songs of all time.
Is there any chance we can appreciate this video clip in a better quality than 240p ?
I miss this level of composition and powerful arrangements !!
amazing. Technically brilliant and musically astonishing. If I could join a band, it would be the RX bandits without a doubt.

i love this song! great video too
A superbly reasoned response, sir.
Amen to that. At first I wasn't sure if I liked Mandala since it was so different, but it's so amazing.
Love the Bandits! The singer sounds a bit like Bradley from Sublime
First listen, these guys are fantastic!
