Emulated it? More like failed to even come close to….. Bentley averaged a couple of goals and assists per season. Becks would get more goals and assists in 2 seasons than Bentleys entire career! Legend 😂
As a rovers fan I'll be forever gratefull to this geezer. Him. Benny Mccarthy. Ryan Nelson ,santa cruz. So many blackburn legends . Even Paul dickov. And the goat . Tugay
It’s fun to see some of these ex players in the spotlight through social media / pundit shows / podcast shows. Bentley was actually a very good player. Beast at Blackburn
Went downhill after he left Blackburn, I think he later commented on how other clubs he played for never felt the same as playing for Blackburn. I wonder why Blackburn was the place that unlocked his highest potential (in my opinion).
Answer to that is the freedom of playing as the star of the team and having tactics built up with you as the foundation. You don't get that going to a big club being asked to fit a certain role, stripping your creativity and potential impact.
He was billed like that. But it never really happened. Only 1 competitive game. Gerrard and Beckham were first choice on the right under Steve McClaren. Capello never capped him preferring Beckham/Walcott/Milner
In Bentley's defence, I think he called time on his career early, simply because he didn't want to play football anymore. He potentially could've gone on a bit longer.
@@LARK-ht7kd you have to be trying to wind me up 😂😂 I don’t ever remember Bentley winning a champions league. I don’t remember him captaining his country at major tournaments…..

At his peak he was brilliant imo, should have got more chance in the NT team at the team, at least make the squad. Opposite of what he says I think he had very good pace, was pretty quick, not rapid like Ronaldo, Bale etc, but had very good pace. A very good dribbler quite skilled, a great crosser. He was real quality for a while.
Antony should be doing this with players like mahrez or robben who are so left footed but added feints or triggered their cut in at a point where it was damn near impossible to stop it.
Wow look at Beckham's curve there. Im not even english but i have to say, Beckham gets alot of hate because people think he just looks good and isnt actually that good. But he was a fantastic player with some of the best crosses of all time
After the goal they brought him celebrating while playing for England! People can get confused, the goal came against Arsenal and I think it finished 4-4
Random fact: This is the first time I've ever heard a right footer described as having a wand. Thought it was legit a leftie term only like Southpaw is for boxing 😮

Not gonna lie that guy could pass a ball and cross Next Level on his Day
Remember when I first saw him play, I thought I was watching Beckham for a minute or so lol
To be fair Beckham was sneaky quick. He had pace but it wasn't his strongest attribute.
So underrated
Did crouch say he was beckhams replacement. I clearly missed that part of his career where that happened
he was defo in the mix at the time. In his early career he looked set to replace becks on right wing for england, but then lost his way.
