I count relocations to a new permanent installation as new credits. However, Six Flags ride relocation coasters don’t count because the intent was not for them to be permanent. New trains don’t count, unless it’s Arrow stand up trains hehe. A permanent relocation is like a coaster’s second life that wasn’t initially planned. The Beast possibly being extended by 3,000 FT poses problems.
Genuine vs forced humor. Thankfully it looks like CS is moving towards their strengths. Their upcoming RMC documentary looks cinematic and professional, and completely void of awkward skits.
@@ZeroCreditsRemaining Keep doing it, man. Not only is it true to yourself, but it gives your channel a unique flavor. Thoosie channels are a dime a dozen. Other enthusiasts might subscribe to them all, but if you want the GP (and let's face it, you do), those little moments make you stand out.
I see racers like this. Racer at Kings Island is two, separate coaster structures that have turns going opposite directions. Americaan Eagle is also two, separate coasters. Each is two credits. Kennywood Racer, Twisted Colossus, these are roller coasters with one track, and two lift hills. Each is one credit.
Heres what I think: clones are separate credits, racers are one credit even with different layouts, rides that have been relocated are a new credit, and changes of the seat from standing to sitting are not a new credit.
A personal rule is I can’t count cloned kiddy coasters I’ve ridden unless they actually look fun, no reason except it keeps me from going 100 miles out of my way to catch a ride at a bowling alley.
I became an enthusiast over covid when I was really sad about not being able to go to theme parks, so to cope and make me less sad I looked up roller coaster videos and found a coaster idiots video, and that’s where the rabbit hole started.
Now, what about Demon Drop at Dorney Park? Is it a credit or not? It has a lift system, a main drop, a brake run, and runs on track (for the majority of the ride).
I've ridden SFGA's American Eagle, Batman, and Viper with the trains installed backwards. Each was a totally different experience (from their normal trains) and counted each as a new credit. Stand-up trains changed to sit-down trains is a new credit in my opinion. Each side of a racing coaster (with separate tracks) is a separate credit. An existing ride that is disassembled and relocated to a different park qualifies as a new credit. Carnival roller coasters (that relocate every weekend or so) do not count as coaster credits. However if that same coaster is installed at a fixed location, it does count. Theming changes or a name change alone do not qualify as a new credit. Other murky variations: Wearing a virtual reality headset on an existing coaster. New credit? (I vote 'no') Mr. Freeze vs. Mr. Freeze Reverse Blast? (I vote it is 2 credits)
I rode Racer 75 at King's Dominion recently (just once one side). I didn't even think about whether I would count the other side as another credit when I ride it in the future.
Some of the most controversial credits are alpine coasters and powered coasters. I'm a lil indifferent about those, but I'll give the thumbs up to both of those coaster types being credits.
A powered coaster doesn't coast, therefore defies the very definition of a roller COASTer. An alpine coaster is a roller coaster just like any other. They have lift hills and rely on gravity to coast.
I agree with the same rules you have (Racing coasters are 2 credits, stand up to floorless conversions are one credit, relocations are one credit) But one question: *Do you think Mobius Loops are one credit or two credits?* As someone with a mobius loop at my home park, I see it as once credit since unlike other racing and dueling coasters, it is one long continuous track.
I very very briefly and kind of vaguely dismissed mobius loop coasters being 2 credits at 4:50. I agree with you there. It's just one coaster. It's another weird case that feels like a bit of a contradiction.
I think that train conversions are new credits like standing to floorless but relocations are not new credits. I don’t think hulk is a new credit after its track replacement because it’s the same layout. I do count clones as new credits though
I'm one of those weirdos who has a little notebook and writes every credit down, but I'm not otherwise obsessed as if it's not a ride that looks interesting (like kiddie credits) I'm just not going to do it. It's more to help my memory than anything else. My husband is the one who needs ALL THE CREDITS, ie, "where can we get a kid so I can ride the kiddie coaster at Lake Compounce?"
making it my business to ride every Vekoma Boomerang until I rupture a disc in my vertebrae (they get hated on but the Sidewinder at Hersheypark was the first coaster with inversions that I ever rode and it made me fall in love with roller coasters so...it's okay that I have awful taste).
I discovered your channel yesterday and have watched almost every video. I love your work. Very good and funny as well 👍😀 You have a new subscriber. As far as credits, I've been wanting to make my own video about credits for quite some time and I think I'm going to finally do that soon. I agree with a lot of what you said, though personally I don't count racing coasters as two credits. The exception would have been something like Dueling Dragons where as you mentioned the two sides are different layouts. Let me ask you, what are your thoughts on the first generation Intamin freefalls? I rode Demon Drop when it was at Cedar Point but have never counted it as a credit, but many people would argue that it is a credit, and I kind of get it because it has a track and uses gravity, but for me, that's one of those things where it just feels like you're reaching pretty far. Thoughts?
Thank you so much! I don’t count first gen freefalls, but I don’t blame people for counting them. They are similar to launching reverse freefalls. Change those to an elevator lift and babam. I feel like counting those is a slippery slope to starting to count drop towers though. Just a personal preference, I do think they’re practically roller coasters.
@@ZeroCreditsRemaining yeah, put perfectly! They are pretty similar in concept to those reverse freefalls. I don't see myself ever counting them, but with you putting it like that, I feel less conflicted about people counting them.
In my opinion one credit = one RCDB page with the exception of Floorless conversions and two different unique sides of a duelling coaster. And that’s not just to inflate my coaster count because I haven’t ridden any coasters that have been converted to floorless
My biggest "predicament" is that when I recently started writing down my credits (in Excel by the way), I was really surprised at how FEW coasters I've ridden in my life. LOL!
my rules 1. if it is mostly tracked. and is coaster like. it is a credit 2. if the roller coaster gets new unique trains, is refurbished, or gets a element changed. it is a seprate credit 3. 1-1 clones in different parks are different credits 4. if a roller coaster is moved. and I rode it at the previous location. it is a different credit because of the location change. 5. the 2 or more sides of a dueling coaster are credits 6. new themeing to a coaster or new paint dose not count as a seprate credit from the previous version unless it changes the core experence. (adding of head chopers/adding more or less feeling of danger) 7. a backwards ride on a rollar coaster is a seprate credit 8. changes to a ride purely by nature (wheathering of wooden coasters or change in forces on bad weather)is NOT a seprate credit. 9. sitting on different parts of a train dose not make it a new credit. (unless if that part of the train is backwards)
This video is amazing. A quick question though, if I may. Would you count the hamster wheel coaster from IAAPA (now relocated just outside of Grand Rapids) as 2 credits? One for the spinning cars and one of the hamster wheel car?
I counted powder keg as a new credit and if I had ridden buzz saw falls I still would have done the same! If you wanna play devils advocate to a tee, you could call powder keg a half credit for people that ride both lol. I wouldn’t personally suggest it tho. But I mean. 😅
Demon at Six Flags Great America has Shockwave track incorporated in it. If I had ridden Shockwave but never Demon until after the patchwork, would I have 1.9 credits between the two? It’s amusing to think about.
@ I count them as separate, if I rode Buzz Saw Falls (I wasn't born then) it would be separate from Powder Keg too. And what about Top Thrill 2? Is it separate from Dragster?
@@ZeroCreditsRemaining I would count that as a reprofile so Demon before and after reprofile are the same credit and Shockwave doesn't count at all if I rode Shockwave (I haven't even been to Six Flags Great America). You do you though.
Seems like most RUclips coaster enthusiasts at least the bigger channels and even some smaller ones inflate the shit out of their count. You seem pretty legit with your stance and maybe some of them should follow your view. Coaster studios is the biggest perpetrator at what he considers a credit. He would count a planted tree as a new credit. My one question is that why count a racing coaster as two but not a standup to sit down? I don't count either. If it's one coaster it's one coaster. Relocated not a new credit. Retheamed not a credit. Two tracks on one coaster not a new credit. It should be self explanatory but people think inflating their count does something for them. News flash don't lie to yourself
what about RMC conversions? shouldn't really be a question, but still a form of conversion. (speaking of RMC conversions I think we'll see one soon at SFGAm ;) )
IMO way more different than a floorless conversion. One is a train conversion, the other is like an entire coaster conversion. The entire layout of RMC conversions are actually drastically changed/re-designed throughout. I'd say Phantom's Revenge counts too. Speaking of, I wish I had mentioned Phantom's Revenge in the video.
My stance on credits ❌ relocation ✅ retheme/ train switch ✅ clones ✅racing coasters ✅flipping the train backwards All in all I don’t really care about credits. Right now I’d consider myself 70% enthusiast because I won’t go out of my way to ride a ride a wouldn’t enjoy like a wild mouse, boomerang, or an old arrow looper
I think everything changed counts as a credit except retracking and relocations. If something fundamental to the ride changed besides roughness, it's a different credit. Though one thing i'm iffy on is alpine slides. Alpine coasters count, bobsled coasters count, so is an alpine slide a coaster? How about ziplines? they're just alpine inverted coasters. Does it even matter? no.
