@@user-fo8ty3kc4vnah you’re just a noob in the valley of ignorance, it’s okay tho one day you’ll meet Dunning Kruger and you’ll realize you weren’t even sentient at this point in your life
@@user-fo8ty3kc4v😂😂😂😂😂
@@user-fo8ty3kc4v That's just how Chuck sounds. But the advice is still sound. Someone has that technique that lands. And they end up throwing it frequently. And become proficient at it. And when fighting someone, that someone has never seen it used that well before and can't easily make the read.
My Thai boxing coach taught this lead roundhouse first. He believes it’s a much quicker and more efficient and effective way of using your lead leg instead of switching all the time. And I agree, switch kicking is just much harder to land than throwing it no switch. At least for me it is anyway
Buakaw had a crazy switch kick. Marlon moraes and edson barboza had great switch kicks too. Just to need to make it fast and time it well. I think learning this first might actually be better as you'll understand better why you switch. Overtime, the switch becomes smaller and it becomes faster, and easier to land
It's all situational. This kick's advantage is that it's fast. The advantage of a switch kick is it's powerful. How easy they are to pull off is all down to practice.
I don't know why but my switch roundhouse is actually faster than just using the rear leg. however, you can't even compare the power. I always thought that if I could get my switch to be almost as powerful as the back leg roundhouse, it would be real hard to deal with in sparring. and now gabriel just drops this and makes me realize that you can kick with the lead leg without even switching stance before, and generating decent power. I'm eager to test this tomorrow in the heavy bag lol
@@gustavogoesgomes1863 you must be doing some things very wrong if your switch is more powerful. Maybe inverted stance?
hi Varga, you saved me from suicide because I watched your
Fights and your videos, it motivated me to not kill my self, so thank you. ❤
I'm sooo very happy to hear that.
Stay positive ❤and I'll keep the videos coming
Life is too short anyway, why end it yourself ! There's so much to enjoy and so much to live for. Been through shit too and now i even laugh at myself how much i took life too seriously and almost ended it for stupid stuff. It's all mental brother , stay strong!
How did it motivate you to not dead yourself? Like you want to be a professional fighter now or something?
@@GabrielVargaOfficial If he did do that, were you going to stop the videos or something?
@@ArtistDaynz90 no due to my condition I can’t be one, but I still train and spar regularly and had a few Muay Thai smokers.
the lead round kick is still my favorite kick to throw, I like to do switch kicks first so that my opponent is always looking for that stance change, then when I do throw a lead round kick, it's unexpected
Merely standing a bit squared and leaning sideways and back, you can get a lot more rotation in the hip as you kick.
Even do a hook-kick with a proper hip-thrust if you miss and land with your foot on the other side.
The same can be said for the rear Roundkick. I've learn so many ways to throw the rear kick, but from people who didn't know how to throw it in any other way then what they teach. As a trainer it's good to know different ways to teach something, but you have to make sure you're not teaching a inferior technic or you could be setting you student up for failure. Not all methods are created equal.🙏
It's basically kung fu/taekwondo/karate. It's funny it's being taught as a variation because it kind feels backwards to me. Adding the switch is the variation. As hoping forwards or backwards or stepping forwards and backwards or changing the stance. If you can do all of that it doesn't even matter what leg is in front. They are basically the same.
Hey! I saw you show this to Icy Mike some time ago, really cool techniques.
Hey Gabriel i was wondering if you could make a video on openings, what should i be looking out for in a fight, when should i rush in and start fighting more aggressively and how to safely do so
Sheesh, Gabriel be dropping some real fire content lately after my training sesh. Appreciate it 🤍🤍
nah bros been dropping consistent fire for yeaaars
Gabriel you really bring us the best content. I really needed this knowledge about left kick. Thank you so much 🙏
Excellent video.
Recently I realized my lead left kick actually got better than my rear right kick, because I trained it so much. Perfect Video just in time too 🔥🙌
Finally someone explaining this in detail. My 1st coach was raving about it all the time. He treated it like it was the holy grail to fighting. Master no switch lead leg kicking, he said, and you have already a huge headstart on your competition. Unfortunately he was never the most articulate guy and could not break down the mechanics: body and foot alignment, being offensive or defensive with it.
Fire content and great technique breakdown. Buakaw used the lead leg roundhouse so effectively in his career. Thanks for showing us how to incorporate it in our own game. You're producing some of the best fighting content online for real.
Just yesterday in our Kickboxing gym when me and a fellow competitor did combinations, he told me this exact same thing about roundhouse kicks Gabriel. He told me not to feint the jab to throw te left hook because he sees it from a mile away and I found out it is best to either not feint or feint and throw a low kick or a roundhouse kick for instance Gabriel. Thank you so much and massive kudos! 🥊
It was the most informative video I watched, thank you so much
Great technique, thank you. More like this would be greatly appreciated.
If you change legs it is not front round kinck no more ... In Kyokushin front mawashi geri or round house kick is very powerfull and with no switching legs.
Aww yiss one of my favourite kicks. Its so fast and hits harder than people expect. Switch kick is great for feinting but this kick is definetely my bread and butter when it comes to lead leg kicks.
As a taekwondo guy the stationary round kick is out first roundkick, I didn't learn about the switch kick until I did fitness kickboxing classes at a place that does Maui Thai and mma
One of my favorite defensive techniques!
Glaube Feitosa used that a lot to set up the Brazilian Kick.
Only way I learned 💯 my lead kick better than my rear. And got them leg kick kos from it
Im going try this next sparring
On my first and only so far kyokushin tournament the lead leg roundhouse was key, i didn't win the whole thing but got two good victories.
Awsome vídeo 🎉
Gabriel, I remember you saying that you didn't like this kick cause the very lack of power and I was dissapoint because I do like that kick. I guess one change one's mind over time
Excellent work
My fighters & I call this the “no-tel” (no telegraph).
Hi man big fan of your work l wish i could spar with you some time in the future. Your a legend and an idlle for me
Awesome lesson. ❤ We want another collab with sensei seth 😂
Misconception about a switch kick is the switch is not a set up. U gotta set it up like any other kick with hands and feints
I'm weird. More likely to switch rear round kick than switch lead. I don't know why, but I've always been good at landing quick, heavy leads, even off jab, so switch is just a waste of time. Switching rear to lead is like switch superman jab only round kick. It loses a little speed and power, but it wins timing. When I switch lead, it's mostly just to condition them for switch rear.
Is your heel on the floor when landing the defensive roundhouse, the same you you pivot with a front kick?
Muy buen video la verdad
PD:Esta es mi patada favorita de lanzar
One thing, this lead round kick seems to flow naturally after a cross.
One tip better than the other... Wooah man...Wrote it before and i will write it again... Vargas an awesome teacher..Wish i could be your student... despite my 45 years hehe!! Thanks brother
Kesame mawashi geri!
As a JKD fighter, Bruce Lee's fight method is once again verified here.
Will you be fighting before the year ends?

Another way is to take a small step to the outside
It's basically kung fu/taekwondo/karate. It's funny it's being taught as a variation because it kind feels backwards to me. Adding the switch is the variation. As hoping forwards or backwards or stepping forwards and backwards or changing the stance. If you can do all of that it doesn't even matter what leg is in front. They are basically the same.
I (15 male) sometimes spar with a guy who is a head taller and about 60Lbs heavier and I struggle heavily, I know dominating the sparring would be utopian but I can't hit a single technique. Is that normal or am I doing something wrong?
There's a reason that weight classes exist man, that's a big size gap. Also if you're only 15 you probably have an experience gap as well. If your gym has a decent culture you could literally just ask the bigger guy to not fight optimally and let you work. I'm bigger than a lot of people I train with, so I don't spar "optimally" with them (keeping them on the end of my jabs / kicks, spacing them out) because sparring should be about both parties learning something.
Imo switch kicks are overrated unless you do the buakaw or joe nattawut type of switch kick
Nah
Switch kicks are awesome bro
FIRST
Thank You!
I got a question. Could a left hook followed with a lead leg kick work?
Yes, kickboxer Bazooka Joe Valtellini on his channel mentioned that as one of his techniques...lead left hook followed with a lead left kick to the liver
@@PassionateSpirit88 jep, i got hit with that a couple of times, sneaky setup
@@nothydropump845 Bas Rutten will step forward like he is throwing an obvious wide left hook so the opponent raises their hands up to block but then instead uses the power and momentum of his to throw a powerful free liver kick. There's videos him explaining it.
@@PassionateSpirit88 Yeah i know about it all too well :P
I feel like pretty much any combination can work if you know how to throw it well. Thats the beuty.
