    Hey Welder
Haha, nice reaction! Thank you! Cool to hear you like our song!
About your question on the instrument(s) you hear in the very beginning of the song:
Well, it's actually two instruments (well, it's actually many).
The VERY first instrument you'd hear is actually a small Celtic bards harp.
Then the strings set in... there's some strings (Cello & violins) accompanying, but I think what you mean is the melody instruments. Right?
These are two instruments playing unisono. Well, unisono but octaved.
The main one is an Uilleann Pipe (the Irish bagpipe). And playing along one octave higher is the Tin Whistle (an Irish whistle).
And yes, just as Merienne already said - the lady singing is Anna Murphy. She's not in our band anymore, she today sings in her own project called Cellar Darling (really amazing! Check it out!). And about the "high notes" and "power"... to be honest: Besides Floor Jansen and Fabienne Erni (our today's female singer) I don't really know many female singers with as much power in their voices as Anna has it!
And yes, we do have a fanbase. :)
@Mark: And yes, you're right - Troy plays the same. Well, both. Troy (who's actually a friend of ours) Uilleann Pipes as well as Tin & Low Whistles.
    Cheers!
    Chrigel & Eluveitie

@@welderreactor Hey Welder! Yeah, sure. I'm the founder & singer of Eluveitie. Why wouldn't I be? ;)
Haha, don't worry about pronouncing our band name wrong! Hardly ANYONE can pronounce it right! For us it's actually kind of funny to discover new "weird" ways of pronouncing Eluveitie when we're touring. ;)
But I mean, we chose a name in ancient Celtic language.... so what would we expect? No one can pronounce that shit! All good, don't worry! :)
      Nice you like Inis Mona!
And welcome! Sure, we watch your video's and since you asked a question I'd answer! ;)
      But hey, one thing:
You mention the word "medieval" a few times in your review. The whole thing doesn't have much to do with medieval times!!! You're around 1000 years too late there! ;)
We are a Celtic band. And we mean it by hear, we're serious about it. We are daughters and sons of the Celtic druids. This is not some "medieval reenactment" stuff and not some fantasy Game of throne delivery and not some mead-filled drinking horn Vikings victory hymns! We do have quite a few songs about war and battles. But they're not funny, not "glorious". Have you ever been in war? It is not something "cool". It's something terrible.
So yeah... Eluveitie's not about the medieval ages, nor is about battles, victories and all that. It's about real stuff that matters today.
Sorry for writing a fucking novel here! ;) Feel free to ask any more questions if there are some!
      Again: Thanks for everything!

The man who growls is actualy the main singer, his name is Chrigel Glanzmann. The female singer is Anna Murphy, she left the band with two other band members and formed Cellar Darling.

I believe Troy in Nightwish plays an assortment of that first instrument. I believe it's most commonly referred to as a tin whistle.
