- Apanhei-te Cavaquinho is a wonderfully infectious piece which is always fun to play. Although Nazareth described it as a 'Polca', it is commonly considered to be after the Brazilian choro style. Performance in the concert room at 4MBS FM Brisbane Australia in April 2013.

Hi.... I have a lovely German-made roundback instrument by Knorr....it is featured in our Scarlatti piece. I tend towards the L&H as it seems to me to strike a good balance between the'Gibson' sound and traditional 'bowlbacks', although I enjoy the Knorr as well.
You have no idea how I feel ,as a Brazilian hearing our so tipical chorinho, been played world wide with this kind of lovely interpretation!
A beautiful arrangement and a brilliant execution. Congratulations to both. I'd love to see you playing some songs of Jacob do Bandolim, Pixinguinha and other from Brazilian Choro. Greetings from Brasil.

Hi... I have played a number of early Gibsons and prefer their sound to the later models. If I hadn't been fortunate to be offered the L&H, I would probably have an early Gibson. I do like the sound and feel of the Emberghers, but they are difficult to find in my price-range. My German-style roundback provides a good tonal contrast when required. As with all types of instruments and their owners, opinions differ widely. But my L&H just does everything for me - never greedy...luckily ;-)
Hi Min Soon.... I have enjoyed your performances on RUclips for a long time. Your choice of repertoire is very close to what I like. I have a very good friend who had two almost identical Lyon & Healy mandolins, and he made the mistake of letting me choose on to purchase from him. I think I got the better of the two ;-). You can see the the other one in the Divertimento video on my page.... they don't appear for sale very often, and I am very happy to have one... it's almost 100 years old!.

I don't know much about the different styles of mandolin you are talking about, but what I have heard of you playing I think you would make a $ 10.00 mandplin sound like a $ 5000.00 instrument. You play beautifully. I have a Kentucky KMH 800 that I can barely tellone end from the other. When I hear you play it makes me want to try harder. BRAVA
I am surprised by the extremely wonderful performance.
It is practicing freely but I, too, can not play this music at such a fast tempo.
Let me know if there is a knack for playing at the fast tempo.

Have you tried one of the pre-Loar Gibsons from the early 20s? I've got a 1920 A-2 that sounds good when I play (at) classical pieces. Not loud or throaty like the later models, but sweet and full. Of course, I don't know what classical players go for. On many recordings they seem thin & greedy to me. Love your tone, though
