    Love pushbacks in rules it is a good reason for me playing rules having push backs.. very interesting thank you for posting Martin. If they create a rulebook to accommodate 13th century (Barons war) i will purchase for sure!

    What a great look at this ruleset and these books. They look like a neat set of rules, accessible and a nice amount of dice rolling. I'll take a closer look at them, thank you!

    As a fellow Martin... I can confirm I role terribly too. 18 attack... 1 wound. Sad times.
    Very good flip through/ demo. I am interested in a game like this but never know what to buy to get there model wise.

    Great video, Martin! I love the difference in the combat with regard to specific weapons, in this case, the charging unit with Thrusting Spears only fighting with the front rank and the defending unit with Thrusting Spears getting to fight with three ranks. Also, the charging units re-roll misses in the first turn. Great variety!

    Martin, another great video. I liked the innovations you show-cased enough I bought the complete two rule set offer from WIP, plus their terrain four set token offer. Wouldn't have done so without your review. Shipping to Australia was also much more reasonable than buying anything equivalent from the United States. Quality work mate. Thanks.

    I found the melee rules a bit confusing. For example, in the rules is a chart saying 'rank bonus' (or something like that) but it does on explain what that means. So next to infantry it has 3. Is that plus 3 per rank (!). Ok, I believe it means that is the max rank bonus they can have (so +3 for 3 complete ranks) but it is not stated. I think a bit of example text would have helped (yes, there is one for a 'multi unit' melee but id have liked a single unit on unit one as well). The rules also mention 'other' combat modifiers but i cant find any that would effect combat itself (as opposed to momentum). I also don't think it great to have to pay out for a rule book that is 90% (or more) the same as the other one when all i want is the period specific rules. I wish they would have beefed up the main rule book as a sort of 'master set' and then added army books that would cover the periods in more depth - lets be honest, that is a tried and tested method. Overall though, I like these rules. Yes, they seem very much an almost 'basic' Warhammer, but that appeals to me, with all the info I need on the units themselves etc. Adding in the pushback and multiple melee rounds is very good plus orders. I think those last two give the rules enough 'shine' to make them worth having a go with.

    • @7thson726
      @7thson726  5 месяцев назад +1

      I assumed the same but that's just from years of playing Warhammer. I slightly disagree on the rulebook front. I found it slightly more refreshing to just need a single book, yes the rules will be repeated on other volumes but it reduces the "buy in" cost. Take Saga for example £12 for the rules then £32 for each of the individual Age books (now those are hardback and GB have more production cost but it's just an illustration 👍). I'm sure if the game is successful then there will be future additions and maybe there will be a change in the approach 👍
      I agree about the push back is great fun though, I think people will be getting alot of fun from this set.
      Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 🙂

    Really like the look of this ruleset! The pushback system is such a nice touch, would really like to see that in more systems. How many models are generally needed per side?

    • @7thson726
      @7thson726  6 месяцев назад

      I think you could have a decent game with 4 or 5 units a side and a couple of commanders. So it would be about 100 ISH 👍

    Some of these mechanisms go right back to WRG rules, e.g. pushback was standard in those rules. These rules have too many dice rolls for my taste. Thanks for the video, though.

    Hello, so great that you had this review, I have been interested to know more about the rules. Thank you. Why did you re-roll misses in the second round of melee? Wasn't the charge over after the first round. But even if it hadn' finished why did you re-roll for the Black Guard? They did not charge.

    • @7thson726
      @7thson726  6 месяцев назад +1

      Hey there, I didn't re roll them, I just didn't have enough dice to roll 18 dice to start so I rolled 12 then 6 👍
