I think when the Raiders came back to Oakland in the 90s they had to convert the stadium back to being a multi purpose stadium and that totally fucked it up beyond being acceptable. I would guess the lease with Oakland is the only thing keeping them in the city but I would have to imagine within a year or two they'll be playing in Las Vegas or somewhere else.

Something like 19 of the 32 NHL teams, during Bettman's tenure, have had ownership groups that either 1) ran out of money, 2) were at least investigated for financial crimes, many of whom were convicted, or 3) never had enough money to begin with [this happened THREE DIFFERENT TIMES!] That said, I don't know if any other NHL ownership is truly reviled like Dolan (and Snyder).

Once the league moved to a hard cap 20 years ago the operating costs are pretty similar league wide and since most share buildings you're not seeing the need for a billionaire sugar daddy to come in and save the franchise. Outside of Phoenix and Ottawa there haven't been many issues with ownership since switching to the cap. When the league was operating in the 90s it was a dumpster fire with those items you mentioned and why you had so many teams relocate.

The Chargers have at least played in a Super Bowl. The Ford family has owned the Lions for ever & since they took ownership of the team in 1961 they have exactly one playoff win. The Lions are the only legacy team (older then 1960) not to have played in a Super Bowl or won a title since the 1960 expansion. Even the Browns have a chip since the Fords bought the Lions.
As a Cardinals fan, although I love Larry Fitzgerald and Kurt Warner, that was kind of a fluky 2008 Super Bowl run. Other than that the Cards were decent for a couple of years under Arians but were also paper-tigerish and got annihilated in the playoffs against the Panthers. And that’s pretty much it. Basically a century of practically always being one of the very worst teams in the league every year. And the Bidwills have owned the team since like 1920 or something.

I'm a Premier League fan, and I've gotta say the Glazers who own Manchester United have to be the most hated owners in sports. They're never at the games, have publicly stated they don't care about the fans, they've taken iver 500m put of the club in personal payments while taking out loans to pay staff, havnt invested in the stadium or training facilities in 20 years, they've had fan protests about their ownership for almost as long as they've been to a point where a massive game against Liverpool got postponed due to fan protests and now after announcing they were going to sell are back tracking because they didn't get the offer they wanted (which was about 3 billion above market value) all while the club is still 750million in debt.
Listening to Brockman complain about John Henry while us Rockies fans are over here without hope for the future or much memory of the past is frustrating.
