It was so much fun listening to this and comparing the differences with the movie. Beautiful photos with this too. It’s such a treat to hear their radio programs. Thanks for posting them.
The Railroad Hour with Gordon MacCrae hosting also did many of the Operattas from the movies and performed them very well. I am not sure if this one is part of their listings but many such performances were made on The Railroad Hour. Oddly we are lucky to even have The Railroad Hour shows available to us today as they were thought lost for years until a set of the original transcription discs were found in a storage locker. Luckily the original discs have now been restored by Radio Archives (out of Spokane, Washington) back to the crystal clarity heard when they were originally broadcast.
I remember Lux Radio Theatre, I think that it was a separate radio production and not taken from the movie soundtrack. All the movies would be too long to compress into an hour long radio program.
Yes, the scripts were written or rewritten for radio and the score was reworked. They sometimes used music for the radio version that was not included in the film (i.e. Cricket on the Hearth from Sweethearts).
I am 90 years old and I saw my first Eddy/Mac movie when I was 9 years old. I fell in love with his voice and for the past 81 years, I haven't changed my mind. Thanks for posting something I love. ladylilyan
After seeing "Maytime" in 2014 I found the MacEddy Club on line. Then purchased the book "Sweethearts" by Sharon Rich. That lead me to purchase their 8 marriages in film. All are on Discs. Nelson's book "A Will of Evil" was next in 2017. Sharon helped Linda publish this gem. The Truth is always beautiful.
No one can compare to them. Their voices complemented each other’s.

@@AngelaM55 Yep, it provided more income for the actors, one from the movie and one from the radio.
Beautifully done as always. It would be wonderful if their last two albums could be reproduced.
They sure had fun kidding the NM plot and their own personas!!

@@deborahweiss3003 The radio shows were quite different during the Golden Age of Radio than is the case today.
