If you really think about it and put the peices together this song perfectly explains the fall of Arthur's trust and loyalty to the gang, to John being found by the Pinkerton's and eventually jack finishing the job by killing Ross It's a real crude lay out but it's the base line
I just had a good idea for the “Hells comin with me part” you could have done John at the front then all of the dead people from camp with him walking towards Micah, still love it though
I would've love that Arthur survived and then he hunted down dutch and Micah killed Micah and died in a shootout with dutch telling him that just as he came back someone else will and then we cut to the future where John has dutch at gun point
They did it to tie up a reason that he's not in RDR1. As influential as he is, had he not died there'd be no good reasoning behind him not being in RDR1.

The story is a tragey. Every good tragedy the tragic character dies. It’s what makes the story great. It would have less of an impact if he survived
